| He wondered if his rather ingrained pessimism or 'shit-colored glasses' at this stage of his life had contributed to the triggering of the event now erupting before him. Having no stake in either of their sides however, he just sat idly by, watching and waiting to see how it would unfold. There was a chance his craft would be fired upon, and his body annihilated in the attack from the far larger and longer-ranged vessels, but to run suggested a far more certain and sooner coming demise, so he remained in his seat where the view was best, and watched in awe and wonder at the new ship and weapon designs he had until then never born witness to.
A nagging worry in the back of his mind reminded him that these sorts of things might trigger another of his damning, debilitating episodes, and that he needed to check to ensure he had his medicine close at hand, but then his far more prominent character aspect crowded that worrying back into submission and repression, reminding him with a hearty amount of dark humor that he was probably going to die sooner or later, no matter what happened at this point, so he might as well not even worry about that and just enjoy the show.
He laughed at the thought of firing on their superior warships, and then again at the thought of how unarmed his transport vessel really was. Speaking to himself and not really taking any notice as to whether or not the two Bothan refugees he had taken aboard were paying attention, he mumbled something like "figures." Until he was wounded or dead, this would mostly only annoy him, as it would divert all of the boarding party's attention, delaying his interaction with them and whoever it was commanding them.
'Either way,' he then thought, 'I'll get to meet someone new and stimulating.' He leaned back into his cockpit chair, interlaced his fingers behind his head, and watched as the fire continued to bolt out between the warring groups.

| The TIE boarding craft that had been fired upon by the Theta had been vaporized in matter of seconds. The TIE fighter that had been fired upon would be taken by surprise as well, vaporizing in as much time as it took to destroy the boarding craft. However, the second TIE fighter was able to evade the firing. The pilot inside the TIE managed to break to the right when this was happening, deciding to move further away for a second in order to make a run back at the shuttle. The pilot didn't need an order to defend himself. While this had been happened, Netan's mood went from stern to furious within matter of moments.
The man was such a hot-headed person that it doesn't take a lot to piss him off. The Captain had ordered for both boarding crafts to pull back, just as the boarding party would begin pouring back into their ships. The stormtroopers didn't have time to find anything unusual within both freighters. The Imperial-I star destroyer was going to keep the tractor beam activated to hold the freighters in place. Netan had also ordered the TIE squadron that were hovering around the freighters to go after the now-armed shuttle.
However, Captain Halan's mood turned afoul when another ship dropped out of hyperspace. A much larger warship. He knew what it was even before the radar officer shouted out what the ship was. "Separatists!" The man echoed the single word throughout the bridge. That was the first assumption that came to his mind. Though around this period, it's possible the Munificent is being operated by a ragtag band of pirates. He wasn't going to take a chance by making that assumption, though. Either way, he knew the Munificent could pack a punch. This was becoming a familiar situation for Captain Halan. He had encountered and fought a lot of Munificents during the Clone Wars. The only differences were that it was done in much larger, full-scale battles. This is going to be a lone star destroyer combating a lone frigate. The another difference is that Netan is using a newer technology.
The man began to bark out orders, "Shut down the tractor beam! Weapons hot! Launch all fighters and other armed ships! Raise the shields!" The tractor beam was the first thing to be done, shutting down. All of sudden, both freighters just didn't seem all that important to the Imperials. It is possible they were working with the Separatists, or they acted alone and just happened to set afoot into a heated situation. Either way, they could attempt to escape, providing the freighters don't get caught in the crossfire. Within next moments, 6 dual heavy turbolaser turrets, 2 dual heavy ion cannon turrets, 2 quad heavy turbolasers, 3 triple medium turbolasers, 2 medium turbolasers, 60 XX-9 heavyturbolasers, and 60 NK-7 ion cannons would all be trained on the Separatist frigate.
Meanwhile, the pilots would be getting on their ships. In addition to 13 TIE/In fighters already deployed, 35 TIE/In fighters, and 12 TIE/sa bombers were being launched out of both hangar bays. Because assault gunboats didn't exist around this time, more room was made for Skipray blastboats. 8 of them could also be seen exiting the hangar bays. 2 Gamma-class assault shuttles would be launched after all the fighters had been deployed to serve as small and armed warships to assist the star destroyer. The room were made for more than one since Delta-class stormtrooper transports didn't exist just yet. The hangar bays were finally emptied up, except for the Lambda-class shuttles and TIE boarding crafts of which won't be used unless they absolutely have to.
While the pilots were heading for the Munificent, the comm officer told the Captain that the Separatists were trying to jam their holotransmitters and radiotransmitters. Netan simply chuckled, "Alert all local Imperial presence that we have Separatist in the vicinity. That we may need assistance, should we request it." Almost immediately as Netan looked back out the window, he barked out one last order. "Bring the Iron Fist about! Reinforce our pilots!" After the last order was given, he walked over to the holotransmitter. "Open a channel to the Munificent." The Captain stood in front of the holotransmitter, and spoke directly into it. "Listen, you sorry excuse of a Sep. The Imperial authority does not bow down to anyone. Especially to someone that had already lost to us! Prepare to face the full wrath of the Empire!" He stopped speaking, heading back out the window to supervise the battle.
All of the weapons on the Iron Fist were primed and ready to fire, in addition to being trained upon the enemy warship. Netan was a man that lust for battle, especially when there was none for him to be around in a long while. It was a great opportunity for someone like the Captain of the Iron Fist to show he can still be of an use to the Galactic Empire.

| The Theta was heading in a wide loop away from the Munificent, giving it all the engines could. The pursuing squadron of TIE fighters, of course, had superior acceleration, but for now, it would take them a bit to catch up to firing range of the shuttle. Indeed, the only one who could fire on the shuttle was the solitary TIE fighter who was breaking away to try and re--engage the shuttle, which in turn kept up a steady series of blasts from its rear cannon against the fighter, largely to prevent it from getting an easy shot, but also to attempt to destroy it before its TIE fighter brothers caught up in a matter of minutes.
Now it came down to the Sword and the Iron Fist. Oh, true, the Star Destroyer was using modernized technology, but there were still several factors that would turn the battle against Netan from the start. For some reason or another, Netan had not seen enough of a threat in the freighters to keep his shields up. It could have been a common misconception from the arrogance and supreme authority most Star Destroyer captains felt at the helm of such a powerful warship. Perhaps it was simply an error. It was this factor, his lowered shields, that would swing the balance in the favor of Shiva's vessel. That, and the fact that for all the firepower the Star Destroyer bristled with, for all its destructive glory, it simply... did... not... have... the reach of the Munificent's primary and long-range armament that, while older, still out-distanced what the Star Destroyer had to throw back in return.
Perhaps Netan's first order should have been to raise the shields, but with such a small gap between the arrival of the Sword and its initial firing, there would have been such a slim chance anyway. The ion cannon blasts struck first, a heavy blow against the bow of the vessel which would cause massive electrical damage and a cascade of failing systems across the ship; the more sensitive the system, the more likely it was to fail. It was also quite possible that their long-range communications equipment, sensitive of course, would be shorted out as well. This was compounded a moment later as the pair of massive twin turbolaser cannon blasts struck dead on the prow, ripping up deck plates, venting atmosphere and causing all sorts of havoc and destruction along a wide swatch of the bow, more than likely damaging a good many tractor beam projectors (for there were located therein). As Netan was ordering his fighters launched and tractor beam disengaged and, of course, shields up, the second set of blasts would strike, this time further up the vessel. The ion cannon paired shot splashed across the lowest level of the four-level superstructure, furthering any ionized computer equipment and, quite possibly, preventing easy targeting for the ship's targeting computers and making other tasks all that much harder. Then the second set of turbolaser blasts hit, almost in the same spot, which would tear further damage, vent even more decks to space and, worst of all, perhaps cause some damage to the main hypermatter reactor core. The good news though, was that Netan's shields would be up in time to catch the third ion cannon blast, dissipating it, yet at the cost of taxing the shields. The ship, of course, was not likely to have the heavy shields equal to a ten-kilometer long battle-station, and while the shields did dissipate the turbolaser strike to an extent, the remainder would punch through the hit near the along the wide bow again, causing yet more damage and destruction.
The Sword engaged its thrusters to full now, heading for full speed. The distance would prevent the (hopefully) damaged Star Destroyer from easily closing the distance, what with so much damage, which, incidentally, would make it even easier for the Sword's communications jamming equipment to work. Heading outwards more, the port side of the Munificent would be angled against the accelerating Star Destroyer. It did help as well that the smaller Separatist vessel had a greater acceleration and would therefore force the slower Star Destroyer to play a deadly game of tag as it headed away from the Iron Fist on a course that would force the ship to angle more to port if it intended to follow.
As it stood, the TIE fighters with their rapid acceleration stood the best chance of reaching and engaging the Sword first, with the Skipray Blastboats coming in second and then in the rear, the lumbering TIE bombers. This of course, assumes that they did not form up and move as a massed group, in which case they'd all be limited by the lesser speed of the bombers. Still, there would be quite a few tense minutes as they closed towards their target.
"Imperial captain," came the cultured tones of the reply, "I have no wish to destroy you. In technicality, we lost to the Republic, not your Empire, and in this case, you were caught with your pants down. Surrender, captain, or my next shots will pierce your vessel's core and you will die. Your men will die. You will have no chance to avenge this day."

The Sword's initial strike had been a telling one; the majority of the Iron Fist's communication equipment was fried before a distress call could be successfully completed and indeed, outside of short-range communications, there was little they could do to call for help. Unfortunately, in this remote area, help was nowhere near coming. The prow of the mighty ship appeared as if it had run into a rather solid and nasty wall; six of the ten tractor beam projectors had been utterly destroyed. Fires had started as atmosphere was vented into space, along with crewmen and pieces of crewmen unfortunate enough to not have been vaporized. Likely as not, steps would be taken to seal off the damaged areas as quickly as possible, but the ion cannon blasts would impede this as electrical fires sprang up about the ship, causing more havoc and systems overloaded. It would not be a stretch to say that the shields themselves were already sorely taxed from the blasts as well as the damage to systems internal.
The second shots enhanced the damage, blasting through a number of XX-9 heavy turbolasers and NK-7 ion cannons as well as the deck plating beneath, charring armor and ripping apart crew stations close to the hypermatter reactor core. The sudden discharge within such a vital space, a lucky hit in truth more than anything, did not puncture the reactor, thankfully, nor did it cause it to overload, but the reactor could not take such damage easily, and power fluxes throughout the ship would increase as the reactor was unable to power everything as efficiently due to severed cables and damaged conduits. Weapon systems would go offline; the engines would slow and perhaps best of all, the bridge's computer systems would be further impaired. Fortunately, the auxiliary reactor could help sustain the sudden load that had dropped upon the beleaguered vessel.
The final strike was absorbed mainly by the now-activated shields, draining them further and the turbolaser blast that continued inwards only served to cause more death and mayhem and damage among the systems. It wouldn't be long before the snub craft were in range and able to engage the Sword, which was rapidly outdistancing the damaged Iron Fist. Drawing the smaller craft away from the larger ship was exactly as what was intended as the heavy end of the hammer was finally dropped on poor, poor Captain Netan.
To the rear of the Iron Fist, a dozen kilometers distant, emerged the sleek and deadly Divine Shadow, Shiva's Providence-class destroyer. The emergence of the powerful warship, capable of going toe-to-toe with a Venator or Victory-class would spell the end for Netan's ship. However, it held its fire, though the mass of weapons were locked solidly on the Imperial craft. Utilizing the short-distance communications available to the Star Destroyer, the ship hailed the craft, allowing the shadow-cloaked form of Shiva to appear, albeit flickering in the damaged vessel's communicator.
"Captain, your vessel is trapped. You and your crew are doomed if you do not flee the vessel now and surrender. Meet the following terms and you will live. Depart the ship, set no self-destruct or traps and you will have your lives and your freedom to fight me another day. These are generous terms, Captain. I give you one minute to make your decision. If you do not reply within that allotted time, I will order my vessel to run all torpedoes, and I assure you Captain, your stern does not have the means or methods to deflect my assault. Choose."

| (( Thank you Netan. I'll wrap things up as we agreed upon. ))
The Iron Fist was at a clear disadvantage. Netan was a loyal Imperial to the core; there was no way he'd turn to serve Separatists. In this fight, however, he'd realized he'd lost. Bad luck and timing had served him an ill meal, and all he could hope for now was that Shiva was a being of his word; willing at least to accept a surrender. "I accept, Shiva... damn you, I accept." The order went out moments later to recall the fighters and shuttles, which looped back around in an orderly fashion to file on into the Star Destroyer's expansive hanger. At the same time, weapons and shields powered down to allow for the rest of Shiva's orders to be complied with. No communication had gone out, unfortunately, or else Netan might have had better luck as well.
The exodus from the craft began with any of the infantry aboard; Shiva was generous enough to allow them to take the remaining eleven TIE boarding craft to begin packing up and disembarking the ship. Personal arms and weapons in storage lockers were to remain aboard the vessel as well. Under new terms, the engineering crew would remain for a time, halting any further damage and, alongside damage-control parties, would do their best to make the ship space-worthy as possible for a hyperspace jump or two. With the amount of crew on-board, some twenty-seven thousand and change (not counting gunners, officers or infantry), there would be plenty of people working under the guns of Shiva's capital vessels.
It would take quite a bit of time; several hours at least, and while this was all happening, Shiva would attend to another matter: witnesses in the freighters. An offer was sent out to both to come to the Divine Shadow where a meeting would be held between Shiva and the unfortunates who'd been caught in the crossfire. In all rights though, it was less a request than an order at this time, but given without malice.
(( Auzdein, if you or the Bothans would like to post, this is your shot to get in. I'll be finishing this thread up once I have your decision. ))

Auzdein's attention was pulled from his rather epic view through the cockpit window panels bordering a few of the sides of where he sat in the pilot's chair. A blinking indicator on his control console was alerting him to a pending message. Upon reviewing it, he waved his two new acquaintances in to review it with him. After how edgy and uneasy they had been even when he'd shown up unarmed, he thought it best to let them make their own decisions about it before he maneuvered his ship with any intent.
"I have no side in this quarrel, my friends. There is always a chance that this is a trap, but our options are quite limited at present; I really don't think I have the means available to stand up to or even evade ships like those."
If they had any opinions, he would hear them, but the way things stood, his mind was already made up for his next few steps, at least; he would respond to the message, indicating his intention to join those who had requested him. With any luck, they would value his military experience, or other educational background, and give him some interesting work to do. Worst case scenario, he would be tortured or bugged or frozen in carbonite. Either way, it would kill the boredom, and stave off his damned horrible panic attacks for a little while; hopefully forever.

Once the freighter landed, it would be met by a line of twenty-four B-2 battle droids that split off into two ranks of twelve, forming a passage of sorts from the freighter's ramp to the ship's deck proper. On the deck, a number of humanoids worked alongside droids, but the group that cut the most imposing picture was the dark-robed form of Shiva, escorted by a quartet of IG-100 MagnaGuards as they made their way towards the shuttle. Knowing that Phen Varak was ensuring that basic repairs that could be made were being done so to the Iron Fist, including overseeing a temporary human-droid crew for skeleton operations, was going on in his temporary absence, Shiva was free to meet the poor folks who'd been caught in the middle. From the owner's own words, he had no quarrel with either side; Shiva was one to judge personally. If the man was no Imperial supported, Shiva had already planned to send him off to the Libs, who were always happy to pick up strays and help them out. The Shadowlord gave an amused snort at the thought of such. Far too honorable and unwilling to get their hands dirty; that described the Libs perfectly in his opinion.
