There were sounds of cheering coming from swoop fans in the audience. The noises of a powerful engine humming. There was a team coming from a local news station to do their job of broadcasting the race over the HoloNet. A helmet were strapped over Radim's head, as he was riding his Air-2 racing swoop against several other racers. The swoop was moving left and right, both to get itself a boost from several speed boosters and to avoid debris that served as obstacle courses. In a strange way, swoop races had reminded him of his time as a Separatist during the Clone Wars.

Being on the edge with the adrenaline rush flowing inside him, it made him all more focused on winning the race for the Krayt Dragons. Yes, he was a member of a swoop gang. Importantly, he was the leader. Radim knew that if he wins this race, he'd be able to recruit a few more members to the gang and their cause. The Krayt Dragons are barely keeping themselves as the best swoop racing team of the Lower City. They're also having some trouble keeping themselves as the best swoop gang of the Lower City. It wasn't easy for Radim to convince other swoop gangs that unity is more important if they wanted to have a shot at crippling Imperial presence on Taris.

A "do-gooders" swoop gang doesn't bode well with the rest of the gangs, but the Krayt Dragons aren't completely perfect neither. Radim would worry about his swoop gang's imperfections later, concentrating on the race further. The man was overally in the third place thus far in the race, and it was coming to an end. The racer ahead of him would end up crashing into one of the debris that were littered all over the racing track. Radim's racing swoop would pull to the left just in time to avoid crashing into what's likely to be a body of another racer. He moved into the second place, gaining some ground with the leader of the race.

The finish line was approaching. His swoop would move to the left, racing head-to-head with a fellow racer. Both of them were switching the places of first and second, and this went on for a good ten seconds. Then the racer next to him would begin to use his swoop to bump his, trying to force him to either back off or crash. Radim did the same, bumping back. The next thing he knew was, both were trying so hard to knock each other out. Thek decided to push another swoop hard to the right, and then pulled out just in time for that particular swoop to crash into yet another debris. A flash would appear to his right side, developing into a picture of Radim crossing the finish line as the winner of this particular race.

It would take him a few moments to slow down and to turn the engines off, taking himself to the winner's circle. Once it had shut down completely, he got off the swoop. A fellow member of the Krayt Dragons would get on his swoop and took off, taking it back to their base of operations. The host of the race, along with a reporter, a cameraman, and a pack of fans wanting an autograph, would walk up to Radim inside the winner's circle. The host handed him a bag of credits, of which the swoop racer would kindly put it inside one of the pockets on his racing suit. He put the goggles above, laying on the helmet so everyone could see his face clearly.

He would sign a few autographs before a reporter began showering him with a few questions. "Now that you've won this race, what are you going to do with the money?" The swoop gang leader gave the lady a smirk and decided to give her a smug response. "The usual, which is dedicating to my cause. Excuse me, I have more pressing matters to attend." He'd walk away from the lady, just as a couple of bodyguards would pull up to escort him. In addition, another fellow member came up to him. Only this time, Radim would speak. "What's the current progress on the selling of spice? Recruitment? Credits? Anything?" The aide-de-camp would shower him with the current progress on everything, of which most didn't sounds well. Although Radim was content with how much credits and people they had brought in at the moment.

The men would get on their KV swoops and headed for their base...

All four of the swoops would make it to the base of operations safely. Without much difficulty, really. The swoop leader had always taken the backdoor to the base, this path he usually take doesn't have much people around. In that, no rival gangs or Imperials would attempt to assassinate Radim. In addition to that, there may be bounty hunters looking for the man since he is a former Separatist. The Empire had put a bounty on all Separatists, former or not. He have made quite a few enemies here on Taris. Rival gangs, crime lords, and most important of all, the Empire. The Krayt Dragons were committing guerilla and urban warfare against Imperial patrols.

Of course, they would target him because he was a Separatist and because he is a swoop gang leader that's hell bent on getting the Empire out of Lower City. Because of that, the Krayt Dragons doesn't exactly have an open-door policy. Everyone in the Lower City and the Undercity have had to make an appointment with the aide-de-camp in order to meet with Radim. Even then, the security always goes through a intensive background check. After all that, the security would do a thorough body scan with the appointee before having a meeting. At the meeting, the bodyguards keep a close eye. Which explains why not a lot of people are able to schedule a meeting and that it's hard to get in touch with Radim.

The man would get into the base, letting one of the men take his own swoop back into the garage, as usual. He had been increasingly frustrated with the rival gangs lately. He knows fully well they don't like the Empire, but they wouldn't listen to his advice. That advice is to unite as one gang in order to have a chance to strike back at the Empire for making everything horrible on Taris and everywhere else in the galaxy. That their men and women are being waated in a petty gang war. He got into his personal quarters, unlocking the liquor cabinet to take a bottle of Johrian whiskey out. He'd pour it down a shot, and gulped it immediately after.

The Lower City and the Undercity of Taris were not for the faint of heart. Overrun by gangs and swoop racers, it was a place where Imperial raiding parties could turn up at any moment; a place where people died for the wrong look at the wrong person. In short, it was a place where a doctor would be in good supply, seeing as medical droids were not always easy or cheap to come by.

It so happened that Jared Tallon had attended the swoop race won by the young Krayt Dragon leader. Following an impulse, Tallon had tailed the man to his base, but for now, remained outside and distant. It took some deliberation, but Tallon approached towards what could be considered the proverbial front door. He knew he was more than likely watched and expected such. With any luck, he would be permitted inside to see about a job. It had been some time since he'd worked as a doctor, after all, and the urge to help people was always there.

Indeed, the security was pretty tight. Security is one of the most important things if you're in a place like the Lower City and the Undercity. There were a surveillance camera placed up high, several inches above the proverbial front door. There were a couple of guards stationed at the door. Both of them would spot an approaching man, and immediately took out a C-10 Dragoneye reaper each. Pointing the guns at the stranger in a mysterious attire. It wasn't something that seems to typically be worn by someone from this area of the planet. "Put your hands up where we can see them! Slowly put yourself on the ground so we can do a body check!" One of the guards would call out at the stranger.

The second guard would then use the comlink to inform the aide-de-camp of the possible intruder. The same guard would then turn his attention back at the stranger. The aide-de-camp would send someone to Radim's quarters to inform him of the upcoming situation. From there on, Radim's right-hand man would soon make a beeline for the front door while Radim would soon stop trying to drink a second shot and get on a personal console that were installed inside his personal quarters. The leader had given the underling a full authority to decide whether to let someone in or not.

Meanwhile, the guards kept training their C-10s upon the stranger. They were ready to shoot if the man wouldn't be deemed cooperative. It was becoming a standard procedures for the guards. Everyone that had come this way would either try and attack the base or wants to speak with Radim in hopes of the Krayt Dragons helping out.

The wear of a long, black overcoat was hardly something overly suspicious; especially in the Lower City where people wished to keep things hidden. Nonetheless, Tallon halted and cocked his head to the side as the pair of sentries aimed their weapons at him. Judging the distance carefully, he discerned that hew could quite easily take the pair of men with either the ballistic knives he carried or a pair of carefully aimed scalpels. Still, he was here for a job and not a fight. He did so detest pointless fighting.

Raising his arms slowly, he sank to one knee and then the other, placing himself face down as he waited for further instructions. If this was how all visitors to the gang's headquarters were greeted, it was not surprising they did not have more members.

Unfortunately, this is how the Krayt Dragons treat every visitors. With many of the threats looming in the Lower City, Radim couldn't take any chances. One guard kept his pistol pointed at the stranger, while another would disarm by putting his pistol back into the holster. This same guard would resume the body search. A few moments had passed, and the body search was done. At the same time the aide-de-camp walked out of the front door, the guard pulled back and stood by the second in command. The another guard simply put the pistol back into the holster.

While Radim were watching the camera, the man would start the conservation he usually start with many visitors that came through this area. "You don't look like you're here to fight. Let me guess, you want to see the man in charge of the Krayt Dragons. I'm the one with the power to decide whether you can come in or not. Now, tell me who you are and what you are doing here."

The knives were likely taken as weapons, as would be the scalpels, both metallic and the laser scalpel he carried in a hip pocket. It would be a tossup if they removed his additional medical equipment as well; a set of high-strength bandages, some various needles with painkillers in them; items such as that. Standing up finally and dusting himself off, Tallon straightened his overcoat.

"No, I am not here to fight. And, technically speaking, if I can gain employment without speaking to your boss, I am fine with that too. My name is Jared Tallon, wandering doctor and I have come to ask for a position with the Krayt Dragons."

Indeed, the knives were taken away. So would the scalpels and the additional medical equipment. It was typical for the guards to remove anything that would be viewed as weapons and as possible weapons. They weren't taking any chances. However, they wouldn't be completely protective should the aide-de-camp decided not to let this stranger in. If that's the case, the man's equipment would be returned. That isn't something their rival gangs would do. They would simply shoot everyone on sight and loot the bodies.

However, that decision hasn't been made just yet. The aide-de-camp went silent for a moment, raising his eyebrows and looked at both guards before speaking to the stranger. "We have people inside the gang that are equivalent to military medics. But no real doctors would want to work inside a gang, at least not voluntarily. Now, tell me, what does a doctor want with people like us?"

Tallon chuckled and shrugged. It was indeed an odd request and he could see how it would be met with a certain amount of suspicion. "I'm a doctor, sir. Medicine and surgery and all the rest. I wander from place to place; I help those when I see it and I ask little in return. However, I fear I lack a steady income, and my ship does require maintenance and fuel. I have helped Imperial officers and common citizens alike. I even aided a Moff, once. As it is, I need to make some credits to depart Taris. What can I say? A gang is a good place where I will be needed."

It was a statement full of half-truths. He had indeed helped a Moff once, but he also had a pile of credits stashed. Any extra money he made was just a bonus. His real work was simply because he loved what he did.

"If you knew anything about the Krayt Dragons, you'd know we're an enemy of the Empire. It sounds like you have such a noble cause, so do we. But we kill Imperials for a living. How are you going to deal with that, knowing that you've helped the Empire in the past?" The aide-de-camp would ask. However, before the doctor had a chance to respond, he went ahead and give the guards a nod of approval. "I'll let you have a meeting with the big man himself. Just remember, there are many eyes on the base. Should you attempt an assassination, you would be subject to lethal force. Come on."

The aide-de-camp moved to the side, gesturing for the doctor to get inside first. But before he'd let the good doctor by, he took out a C-10 Dragoneye Reaper and pointed it at the man. "Let's go. I'm sure you understand the precautions."

Raising his hands in surrender, Tallon offered a disarming smile. "No need for weapons, my good sir. I'm a doctor. I'm certainly not an Imperial, and I would say it is the duty of any doctor to aid those whom they can, whether it be Imperial or not. If you kill Imperials, that is your business. I simply put people back together." Moving ahead of the aide, Tallon entered the hideout. It seemed that if all went well on meeting the head of the operation, he would be employed once again. It was a good prospect. Taris would serve both sides of his nature; the healing... and the other.

Radim would immediately walk out of his personal quarters, walking over into the main area of the base. It was most of the Krayt Dragons would be around. There was a small table at the edge of the area, where he would place himself on a seat. It was a place where a meeting place usually held, in front of everyone. No assassin would try to kill him, not without getting killed himself. There were many sets of eyes, so he would be safe. He would await the doctor to come his way.

Meanwhile, the aide-de-camp kept his blaster trained on the doctor. Getting to the main area was a pretty straightforward, getting into the hallway and it would take them right into the area. Once that was done, he put the C-10 back into the holster. There was no reason to continue and point the pistol, especially not when there are many set of eyes.

It struck Tallon that the Krayt Dragons had not considered that an assassin might well have been sent on a suicide mission. Tallon, however, was neither suicidal nor an assassin. Well, not an assassin today, as it were. Who could say what the future would hold? Coming to stand in front of the table, for he'd seen no seat offered, Tallon smiled at the man who led the gang. "Good day to you sir. Your aide has invited me in so we might discuss terms of employment in your service as a doctor. I hope you are open to the same ideas."

The swoop leader simply snapped his finger, and one of the Krayt Dragons would find a nearby seat. Then it would be brought over in front of the table, for the doctor to sit on. "Have a seat, please." He offered, watching the doctor. It was strange for a doctor to dress like that, so it might be possible he was a detective from Tarisian law enforcement. Probably not, it isn't likely a detective would openly enter a mynock's nest. "Sorry if I don't shake hands. We don't really trust anyone down here."

Radim proceeded to sit up, to show he was taking a particular interest in the man. "Before I decide whether to hire you or not, I'm sure my right-hand had brought this up, I find it odd that a trained doctor would be interested in working with a swoop gang. Swoop racers, maybe. It would be nice to have a doctor that could work on one of the more serious injuries that my men might not be able to treat. You must have an agenda, though. Name your terms to start the negotiations with, and see if I'll agree." While they would talk, his right-hand man would go into Radim's personal quarters to do a background check on Jared Tallon.

This was being done to ensure the Krayt Dragons' safety. The stranger did mentioned he worked for the Empire before, so there has to be a record of some kind on the man.

There would indeed be a record of Jared Tallon having treated a Moff of a smaller, Outer Rim sector for wounds taken from a wild animal. It had been fortuitous circumstance that Tallon had been on-hand to treat the man. Other records to track Tallon would be by his ship, the Scalpel, if they looked hard enough. He did not often visit the Core Worlds, preferring to stay along the Outer Rim where good doctors were hard to find. In that regard, he had never truly 'worked' for the Empire on a payroll. Other than that, his background was rather scarce; almost suspiciously scarce.

"A trained doctor finds work wherever he can, sir. Just because you are a gang does not mean you do not race, and racers gain injuries. A gang simply means I will treat your men more often. As for terms? I would like a nice place to live, the ability to come and go as I please and a decent salary. I can hardly work for nothing all the time, now can I?" He offered another smile. The people here were so serious, it was almost depressing.

The Krayt Dragons were the sort of people to jump to conclusions rather easily. However, they also knew that a scarce background doesn't necessarily mean he's a threat. After all, most of the members had a scarce background except for the leader himself. The aide-de-camp returned to whisper into Radim's ears. It was done to tell him the background check had come through. The former Separatist would return his attention back to the doctor.

"You do have a point there. Okay, I'll keep you around on a trial basis first. Since we're a gang, we don't abide by the galactic law of employment compensation. You're going to be on what we call a two-week internship. After you've prove your worth, I will compensate you for the work you've done over that period of time, in addition to a commission pay for saving every life within the Krayt Dragons. On a regular basis, you'll be well paid since it's very hard to find a trained doctor in this area of the galaxy. In addition to that, you will be given a personal quarter here on the base. Once you show you can be used on a regular basis, you'll be given an apartment outside the base should we come under attack and are forced to relocate. You may come and go as you please, as long as we don't find you helping other gangs or the Imperials out. Anyone else other than that is okay in my books. Do you agree?"
