The Senator allowed a smirk to slip across her face. "Well, Senator, I believe that there are enough people in Senate that would not let it go any further than a censure. Besides, only the people of the Cronese Mandate can vote you out of your position, am I correct?" Ilanah took a small sip of her water and toyed with the stem of the glass as she thought for a moment. Amneris' voice cut the silence and she glanced over and idly wondered how Kal would answer that question.

She turned her attention back to Zaracaine. "And besides....I know some people that would be able to help you should things not go well." Ilanah said before she sat her glass down. "Not that they will. You do have people on your side here, Senator."

"It is not the fact that the people of the Cronese Mandate can vote me out of my position, as much as the constant communications from the people requesting that I pull the Mandate out of the Empire and close our borders." Zarcaine let out a sigh as he looked to the window for a quick moment, he could already feel the rage boiling up as he thought on how free speech was being torn apart with in the Senate, and including the sham of a bill that Senator North had deemed was needed. Zarcaine watched the rain as he it seemed to calm him, the anger slowly giving way, yet still sitting there mixing with the pain that he was feeling in his shoulder again. It would seem that the same bolt had come undone again as he looked back to the senator.

Being mid drink and having the Senator's wife ask him about what he did for a living, Kal nearly choked. He gently set the glass back down on the table and cleared his throat as he gave her an answer.

"Lately, it's been several different things. Right now, I am the security guard for my wife. Before this, I was doing various jobs just to keep myself busy while she was attending to her Senatorial dealings."

He would glance over to Lana. He wasn't exactly sure if he had answered that properly or not. It was obvious that he could tell what his true job was, so he decided that it would be best to keep up the charade they had going about him being her security guard.

"What about yourself, do anything to keep yourself preoccupied while your husband is off doing what needs to be done for his people?" He wanted to quickly get the subject off of him and onto her so that his job hopefully wouldn't be brought up.

Amneris listened intently to him, nodding a little as he spoke to her. Idly, she smoothed the napkin on her lap, toying with the hemmed edges of the linen. She found it interesting that he was Senator Thanatos security guard. Though, who better to protect her than someone who loved her. After Amneris thought about it, the situation was actually very sweet.

And then he asked about her life.

It was hard for her to say what she did all day, because it was usually absolutely nothing. Sure, she supervised those that worked in the house, taking the time to make sure everything was perfect for when he returned home, but other than that, she had no real purpose. "I....actually....supervise the household, I suppose. A housewife. In simple terms." It wasn't glamorous or exciting, not in the least.

"Have you two been married for long?" Amneris asked. She was almost embarrassed, and was trying (like he had with her) to try and steer the conversation back to his life.

The Senator's anger over the situation was not lost on her at all. She understood more than he likely thought that she did. For the moment, Ilanah allowed him to calm down to keep an even temper in the room. She knew that if Kal thought there was upset, he would likely step in. And she didn't want that right now.

While she waited, her gaze wandered to Kal as he spoke with the young bride of Zaracaine. She almost felt bad that Kal had to lie to keep himself under cover, but he seemed to handle it fine.

"The reason I wanted to meet with you, personally, Senator, was simply to let you know that you do have friends in this senate." She gave him a smile as she observed him. "Are you quite well?" Ilanah asked as she noted his discomfort. It could have been anything, but she didn't know it was an old injury.

His attention turned back to the Senator when she asked if he was alright, for the moment hearing his wife's voice, although timid, yet sweet, seemed to help him calm more. As Senator Thanatos though asked if he was alright he gave a smile and a nod. "Yes, I'm quite alright, it just seems that my shoulder stiffs up when I here blowhards like Oswaldt use his service in the Clone Wars, where he killed thousands of innocents might I add, as a political platform. Unlike him, I couldn't get into the relative safety of the navy." He gave a slight smile as he brought his hand up and rubbed his shoulder, feeling the loose piece again as he sighed and pushed it back in, trying to make it look like he was massaging the joint, more than doing a minor repair on a piece of machinery.

The Senator of Telos IV wouldn't use just about anyone to do this certain menial task. It was something that would have to be done carefully. He had sent someone that he would trust with this objective. It was an off-duty bodyguard that remained behind on Coruscant, or rather the Imperial Center. He wasn't carrying a holopad or a datapad, for that matter. It was being done in an old-fashioned way. A handwritten paper would be perfect for this particular circumstance.

The guy would walk up to the door of Senator Thanatos' private residence. For security reasons, the paper in Tremaine's handwriting would be tucked away inside one of his pockets. Then the guy proceeded to knock on the door.

He couldn't help but laugh a little as she said that she was in charge of supervising the household. It wasn't a laugh meant to hurt feelings or anything, he just found it a little funny the way that she said it.

The next question would be a simple one for him to answer. He would take a quick glance to Lana before back to the Senator's wife, telling her, "Well, we were married a few years ago, had a divorce after a few issues then came across each other just a few months ago. We fell in love all over again and got married for the second time. How about..."

He was interrupted by a simple knock on their front door. His head turned to Lana, "I'd make a bet and say that it is for you..."

Amneris' cheeks flushed a deep red when he laughed. It was embarrassing for her to have said it, let alone have someone laugh about it. She didn't know the context in which he was laughing though, so she just assumed it was because she was just some silly girl. When she had first married Zarc, there were rumors about her, of course, but she thought that all of that was left at home.

Instead of getting upset, she tried to push the feelings down and pay attention to what the man was telling her. Her gaze went from him to the Senator when his did, and she smiled a little. "It is sad that you separated, but sweet that you are no longer apart." She said, and then the knock at the door interrupted them.

Her gaze caught Kal's and she gave him a brief smile before she slid her hand over to his. She rested her hand on top of his and then curled her digits around his palm and squeezed gently. The conversation he was having with Zaracaine's wife was not something that she interrupted though.

The knock on the door did that for her.

"Will you excuse me, Senator?" She said as she pulled herself to her feet and left the dining room, hopefully only very briefly. Ilanah went to the door and opened it and was surprised to find the slightly familiar bodyguard standing there.

"What are you doing here? Is everything alright with Tremaine?"

The bodyguard simply nodded at Senator Thanatos. "Yes, Senator Fowlkes is fine. He just wanted me to pass a message to you. Here it is." He used his left hand to take the paper out of a pocket, and handed it over to Ilanah. "Before you read it, he wanted to offer his apology. Have a good day, ma'am." The man would turn around and walk away.

The note would state, "Dear Lana, I am afraid I'm the bearer of bad news. I am here to inform you that Jules was killed in action while the Libs were evacuating from the Imperial forces at Molavar. If you need anything, let me know. Oh, and burn this letter after you've read this."

Zarcaine gave a slight nod to Senator Thanatos as she went to check the door, his hand sliding under the table as it glides over Amneris' lap. He took her hand in his and gave it a light squeeze, his thumb brushing against hers as he looked at her and gave her a smile. Trying in his own way to assure her that she wasn't be laughed at as he looked to the Senator's husband for a quick glance before he returned his view to his wife. His hand still holding hers as he thought on a few things. He had been skirting around the actual subject, not answering her questions directly on purpose in case she or her husband were trying to trip up Zarcaine into saying something to be used against him. His own hesitation and worry running through his mind, being covered by other thoughts and ideas that continued to clash and come together in his mind. For all the chaos on the inside though, or what seemed like chaos, he always remained cool and calm as he waited for the Senator to return.

His eyes wouldn't follow Lana as she got up from the table and attended to the person at the door, but rather his senses remained trained on her. There wouldn't be a second go by that he wouldn't know exactly where she was and the emotions she was giving off. She wasn't the only one that he could feel feelings from. The two of them that were sitting with him at the table were giving of their own.

This apartment was full of swirling emotions from everyone, except Kal. He was calm and had a cleared mind. It could have been the satisfaction of completing his newest weapon, or it could have been the alcohol finally taking a toll on him. With that now in his head, his hand reached out and grabbed a hold of his glass, bringing it to his lips and taking a large drink from it.

An awkward smile would come to his face as he would try to break the tension between the three at the table, "So...you two seem like a happy couple. How did you two happen to meet?"

She watched the Senator leave the table, and then re-direct her attention back to Mr. Thanatos. She almost hated to answer his question, but she also did not want to lie to him, or anyone.

"My father arranged the marriage. He has been friends with Zaracaine for many years, isn't that right?" She looked to Zarc to back her up. "He and my Uncle made all of the arrangements." She said. It would explain a lot about her and the reason she was the way she was. And it would likely make people assume a lot that wasn't necessarily true.

Ilanah looked up at the familiar guard and took the note from him before she nodded. "You too....thank you." She was a little perplexed by the fact that he had given her a note, on paper. Even though she hadn't read it, it looked like it was hand written. Instead of returning to the dining room, she stood in the foyer and unfolded the letter and started to read it.

Her fingers trembled as she read the brief note and most of the color drained from her face before she squeezed her eyes shut for a moment and crumpled the bit of paper in her hand. Jules had been her aide, the woman who took care of everything that she needed, especially her contact with Tremaine. And Hunter....Hunter was going to deliver the ships to her. Lana rested her hand against the wall and steadied herself for a moment, staying put so that she could take a moment to collect herself, as she was a wreck of emotion.

Finally, she would compose herself enough to return to the dining room. "Pardon me, Senator....business, you know." She was lying to him, of course, and putting up a front. He was doing it to her, after all.
