"Vil Haran is identified as the leader of the True Crusaders, lately heading the rebellion at Dxun. The man was a known rebel and criminal." Lord Catrix would open the airlock when the relevant security details had been taken care of (checking Rath's credentials digitally). A squire (aged 17) awaited Rath at the door of the airlock, the younger illegitimate son of the Baron himself. An elderly butler and a pair of droids were with him also.

Squire Charles Park offered a bow "Good Evening your Lordship, if you would follow me this way." he said gesturing to the direction of the bridge as he bowed "Perhaps I may fetch you refreshments? How might I introduce you to the Lord Catrix?" he spoke nervously, keen to follow all the relevant rules of protocol and etiquette. The inside of the ship was elegantly decorated in hardwoods and fine metals, a far cry from the bright white of the ghastly Tantive IV. The corridors were dim and lit by synthetic holographic candles, giving the corridors the appearance of being brightly candle lit with none of the fire hazard.

Deschain's appearance was foreboding to many. It was a good sign that these folk were not bothered by the faceless nature he wore. His lightsabers were concealed under his cloak, but he wore a brace of throwing knives diagonally across his chest, housing eight. While hardly extremely proficient at using such weapons, he could work with them in a pinch, and they served to heighten the image he cultivated and changed from meeting to meeting; the perfect ISB agent: cruel, mysterious and deadly. His credentials would indeed come up under the ISB; he had a file on record there for identification purposes.

"Your lordship?" Deschain's voice carried all sorts of amusement. "I was never a lord, boy. Likely I was lower born than you are. You can simply introduce me as Agent Deschain. It will suffice." It was plain to see that credits had gone into the interior of the ship, so much fancy waste. Deschain grimaced behind the holographic mask. He preferred the spartan quarters on his personal craft; the small meditation area where he worked and plotted for the greater good of... well, Palpatine and by extent, Vader, as well as for himself. The Empire came on the list as well, but below those three particulars.

"I apologise your agentship" spoke the young man, unfamiliar with contact with people above him who did not have some form of feudal rank. "His Excellency, Agent Deschain" spoke the young Squire as he introduced him to Catrix's presence.

They entered the cockpit, the cockpit rather more spartan (but still expensive). The room was equipped in a minimalist style with comfortable command couches and chairs which one could sink into and relax in, allowing crewmen to sleep at their stations (and also acting as emergency inertial dampening) if need be. Two figures were seated in the bridge, a young technical specialist at the front operating a console and Lord Catrix in the captain's chair. He span the leather effect chair around and stood. "Agent Deschain, I am honored by your presence. I am Lord Catrix of Mithra, King Deralius is my liege and the Baron Park the man who has engaged me for this purpose, how may I be of service to you today?"

"Lord Catrix, an honor." Lords. Feudal creatures with prickly honor and a love of their titles. Deschain had never known wealth or luxury, and he spurned it unless it worked the means of the ends he sought. "A rather large force to capture one Mandalorian, leader or not. From what I understand, the Empire drove them from Dxun with relatively little difficulty; certainly he cannot be so fearsome if these Mandalorians could not do better than the Confederacy's droid armies. That is neither here nor there.

"So you have caught him here at Felucia... a rather interesting planet these days, my lord. Are you aware of what else transpired at Felucia not long ago?"

"What else transpired at Felucia? I simply know this braggard challenged my Lord Park to a duel. He has little sympathy for primitive duel customs and arrived in style, his lordship does not like to travel away from his vessel. We brought the armaments because we assumed it was an ambush, and we require the ability to capture and hold all the mandalorian rebels captured and brought in chains to the Emperor's servants.

We are not familiar with Felucia as a world, I never served here in my time in the Republic Military. From what I read on the holonet its a mushroom ridden fungus world, sounds awful. It is not marked as off limits on any star chart?" spoke Lord Catrix "Perhaps you could enlighten me?"

"Felucia, Lord Catrix... well, for those who make a study of the heresies of the Force, it is a place teeming with energy. Dark, light, it is all the same, but the planet changes with those in tune with it... or those strong enough, so it is said. You read the bounty lists, yes? Caden Sturn, a promising young man in Imperial service was sent to Felucia to apprehend or kill a Jedi who had taken refuge here. Sturn betrayed the Empire and he and the Jedi fled. As such, I find it... intriguing that Baron Park and Vil Haran chose to meet here. It is quite possible that this Haran is a Force-wielder, and if that is so, it is good that you brought such armaments, though I daresay that had it been an ambush, from what I have read of Mandalorian culture, you did not come heavily enough armed.

"A duel though. Duels are a remnant of much more ancient and elegant times." His voice trailed off into nostalgia for a moment. "Days that do not belong in the glory of the Empire, Lord Catrix. If you have managed to capture this criminal, I will have to question him. If he is in league with the Jedi, it will not do to take him back to Imperial Center directly." The plan began to take shape in his mind now, forming even further. "Baron Park will likely have room in the Nevar Belt, would he not? Perhaps he can accommodate my questioning there."

"You jest surely? The force is a myth so I was taught in school. Merely made up to empower the Jedi. And I am quite sure this vessel could deal with any number of treasonable "mandalorians"..The Baron certainly has room on the Nevar Belt, we could even designate a distant asteroid (many have abandoned bases on them) for your own personal use. Or indeed could allow you to interrogate the rebel on Deralia itself, in the Park estates I gather there would be specialized facilities available. I will update you as soon as we have news from the hunting team." said Catrix

(( Okay, let's see what the damage is, shall we?

So, while I concede that a turbolaser + missile barrage from orbit simply to eliminate a single person is overkill... Park is entirely within his right to do so. Considering the blast radius of such a torrent of pretty-colored death is rather large (given enough time, a single ship could level an entire planet, i.e. Taris... though I'm quite certain there were other ships in the vicinity during the Taris attack but Malak's flagship did do substantial damage to the planet) I'm afraid there's no feasible way that Vil could avoid such an attack unless he had a rather fast vehicle in which he could escape the blast. Also, those giant purple mushrooms aren't composed of titanium, they're overgrown fungi... if I shot a BB gun at a portobello I'm pretty sure the portobello would be rather destroyed. I apologize for such a crude analogy, but there it is.

Also, take note that you did have a few posts where the guns were targeting you, so if you had run then, you might have had a shot at evading them. Not everyone fights fair, I'm afraid... the Death Star should be enough evidence to support that. Were I in your position, I wouldn't have invited someone to a duel on a neutral site without some sort of backup. I understand the Mandalorian concept of honor would hold true if you were dueling an honorable person, which Park doesn't seem to be. Nevertheless, I can't help but feel that he's being somewhat generous here. The fact that the blast probably would have killed you outright, rather than leaving you injured as Park's stated, is something of a miracle in and of itself. I don't think the heat signatures of the local flora and fauna could have sheltered you from a turbolaser barrage. Perhaps it might have thrown off the missiles (if they're heat-seeking, which I believe they are). If they are heat-seeking, I'm willing to concede that they probably wouldn't hit Vil directly (if only for the sake of fairness, because this attack as a whole is rather unavoidable).

So there it is, my ruling. I'm siding with Park for the most part, though perhaps he could amend his post concerning the missiles unless he can come up with a convincing counter-argument. Sorry if I sound like the bad guy here, I'm trying to be impartial, but that's hard to accomplish when it's one man vs. a big ship with a lot of lasers. ))

It would have seemed though that Park didnt think his attack through. The fact that he had just recently fired upon the area with the turbolasers, causing damage, and leaving residual heat signatures in the areas, was a problem when one was also using heat seeking missiles. The missiles that had been targeted on Vil's heat signature would find themselves locking onto the heat signature of the larger blown out areas that had recently been hit with the turbolaser fire. Those area's now carrying a much more prominent heat signatures than Vil. He watched as the missiles veered off and struck the larger heat sources. The explosions tore into the area, sending up thick pieces of splinters and clumps of dirt when they struck. The added heat from their own explosions would cause the area's to become even more prominent, making any type of heat seeking weaponry now pointless, as they would lock onto the large signatures of heat that now marked the area due to the turbolaser fire.

Vil stood up as he felt the heat from the nearest turbolaser blast, the shockwave knocking him back as he slammed against one of the large fauna. His ears were ringing as he opened and closed his eyes, his vision beginning to blur as he stood up and stumbled. It was difficult to walk now, let alone move, yet he couldn't sit in the same place. The constant bombardment of the area though had sent a gift in a different way, more than likely, unintended. The animals around the area had begun to flee when the fire was turned towards them, the creatures rushing away from the flames as Vil stumbled again. The bombardment had another effect on the area, the edges of the blast providing enough heat to start various fires that quickly grew in size, further more obstructing the heat signatures with in the area. Now it was more difficult to tell Vil apart from one of the fires or one of the many species of creatures that were fleeing from the fires. Vil held his side tightly as he stumble again, only to fall over as he fell to his back. He was lucky though, his fall landed him on top of a Gelagrub that had just found its way down from one of the towering mushrooms. The creature joining with others that were fleeing from the area as they rushed away from the fires. Vil opened and closed his eyes as he began to find it difficult to breath, his vision blurry as he watched the Felucian Birds cloud the sky and fly away, darting through the thick smoke of the now rampant fire.

He didnt know how long he was on the Gelagrub, or how far he had been taken when he finally rolled off and fell to the ground. He looked up as he reached out with his arm, pulling himself along the ground. Vil's vision continued to blur as he found himself a large mushroom to lean up against, sitting with his back to it as he tried to look at his wound. Luck though would shine on him once more as he looked up and saw the outlines of the native Felucian beings. He let out a sharp breath as he noticed one approach him, yet, there was something familiar about this one. The Felucian remembered Vil from when he was here before during the Clone Wars, just to be sure though the Felucian pushed up the helmet that Vil wore to get a better look. Vil brought his hand up, pulling the helmet back down, never allowing for it to be removed as the Felucian nodded to those with him. The natives picking up Vil and carrying him off deeper into the jungle to keep him in hiding.

Heat seeking technology was one of the more primitive spectrums on the scanners. The fighters and orbital would simply switch to other bands, metal scans, electric signal scans and a variety of others would be used to designate. In seconds the target was refound and targeted. The turbolaser would open up in front of the hapless beast, then on its sides and rear, simply turning the fungal landscape around it and its rider into a river of Lava. The gunners did thorough work to assure that there were no convenient jumping places to cross the river, nor fallen fungus trees over the lava, just a wide river of fire hemming Vil in a small area of jungle.

Vil had previously taken serious and multiple injuries (severe burns and wounds from being thrown twice), he would likely now be (as highlighted in his own post) unconcious lying on top of the grub, it would begin to panic as it realised it was hemmed in by lava.. what worse could happen now.

Now effectively shooting fish in a barrel, hemmed in on all sides (with the previous turbolaser fire blocking their rear), the fighters moved in for the kill, laser cannons, ion cannons and turbolaser blasts, dozens of them, streaked through the fungal canopy, followed by another brace of concussion missiles targeted on the man riding the weird grub creature, with the laser cannon blasts aimed at the creature itself.

The Aegis-class shuttle, skimming over the landscape also locked on to fast moving metal and biosignature (the electrics of the armour and his heart and brain being prominent), it skimmed after the grub, also firing a pair of laser cannon blasts to hit the animal if it turned back.

Deschain remained calm while waiting. If Catrix made small talk, Deschain would, for the most part, simply take in the words and respond with small replies. He didn't even bother going more in-depth about the Force to the man; the Lord would never understand. Still after all this time, it seemed unlikely that they would catch Haran. Certainly they'd unleashed enough firepower at him. If they couldn't find him though, they would be tasked with the unfortunate item of aiding a blockade of Felucia alongside the Star Destroyer that would arrive soon enough. If the Baron's men proved inept... well, the jungle world would be nothing to Deschain's Purifiers. For now, he waited.

The moment they switched to over to other forms of scanning would prove just as difficult. The first thing they'd pick up when they'd begin to scan for metals where the larger deposits under the ground, in the immediate area. To try scanning for the metal in his suit, with out knowing the exact composition of the metal, was a far off dream. To find such a small target with out knowing what metal made up his armor, would take hours, if not days to find an exact lock between Vil's armor and the backdrop of large under ground deposits, there was also the problem of trying to lock onto a single electrical signal, the previous volley of Ion Cannons had built up static with in the air around the area that had been bombarded, causing the scans to pick up on those electrical signals. The fact that Vil's body was near unconcious, meant that his own rhythm of his heart beat, and biosignature would be much more difficult to pick up between the over laying bio signatures, and frightened animals, whose own signatures stood out more now that they were frightened.

The Grub though would make it away from the area, Turbolasers, even with experience gunners, were known for their terrible inaccuracy and being ineffective and problematic in trying to preform such delicate task as carving out a river of lava in one area. To even try to do so would see the blast spread out and would more than likely not achieve the desired effect of carving out such a river. Vil had been lucky enough to get away as the terrified animals ran into the forest, where he had been found by a familiar Felucian. Those with him, carried Vil deeper into the over grown area's of the jungle, where scanning for a single source would be more difficult to achieve as the over grown jungle itself would be more than enough to hide Vil. The native Felucian tribe that had found him, was one that he had known from the Clone Wars. The fact that they found him was his luck showing trough even more now as they carried him down into the earth, into the various tunnels that the native Felucians would dig for their own hiding. It would be in these dug out tunnels that he would be safest, as the ground would provide a stronger over head canopy, coupled with the over grown forest, and the residual heat of the day, would mask his own heat signature, and muffle the bio sign as the native Felucians looked to his wound and injuries. The Mandalorian Battle Armor, passed down through Clan Haran, would prove more sturdy and stronger than the armor used by the Mandalorians today. Much of the body was covered in armor, leaving very few gaps between the plates, which was more than likely the reason that Vil was able to survive. Let alone the fact that the sealed suit worn beneath, designed to insulate the body from the cold vacuum of space, would be more than enough to also help stem the effects of extreme heat for the time being. Vil's burns would be revealed to be secondary and first degree burns, nothing that the native Felucians and their Shamans couldn't heal.

The scans were not impeded. The technology was designed for difficult circumstances and were effective at targeting Vil.

One of these is a dream, in the mind of Vil, one is reality. Which he picks is his choice.

Vil was snagged on the gelagrub, it was maddened with terror and pain. As stated in Vil's own post it continued forwards. As stated in my post "The turbolaser would open up in front of the hapless beast, " The Gelagrub would run straight into the fiery chaos, its fleshy moist body being dried to a crisp and burned in seconds, it screamed and bubbled as the liquids within it were rapidly vaporised.

Vil's own fate would not be better, out of it and snagged onto its corpse he would be dragged into this hellish firestorm, the turbolasers thundering around him would cause the heat to rise into the hundreds of C around him. His suit and armour would be as nought faced with such sustained and powerful heat. Vil's death was mercifully brief, death would come quickly as his heart gave out in the intense heat. Half a second later little remained of him as his body began to vaporize and melt about him, his bones not lasting much longer before they too were just ash and dust. In a full second all that would remain of Vil Haran would be rivulets of molten metal and atomised ash on the wind, such was the fate of one who ran into an area being blasted by turbolasers.

OR

The Gelagrub tossed Vil off, contemptuous of the metallic figure on top of it, shrieking in pain from him landing on it it reared up. At this moment the storm of laser blasts and ion blasts (in addition to blasts from concussion missiles) hit around him. Fortunately the vast majority of all the energy was soaked up by the bug, splattering Vil with its insides as it was utterly destroyed by the blasts and energy bolts.

Vil himself was hit by a blaster bolt in one leg, excising it at the calf and vaporizing the lower half. An Ion blast would strike him in the lower back, the Ion Blast causing intense burns and actually causing parts of his armour on his back to be misshapen, all electronics in his armour would be dead. His heart would almost fail but continue (in an erratic fashion) as the electronic overload brought his nervous system to its knees.

Other blasts grazed him, knocking him from side to side, causing severe burns on his arms and ches, melting long gouges in his armour. The Concussion missiles hit a moment later, after all this damage was caused, Vil was again tossed up in the air, like a rag doll he would be thrown around by the explosions before impacting against a tree and sliding down. His back would be broken (repairably but temporarily paralysing him), his ear drums would be burst, his remaining leg was broken. Several ribs were broken and the contusion in his head was becoming more severe. Most of his body was burned, some of it very deeply or severely. Unless he was in a medical unit within an hour, his prognosis was very severe, it was likely that he would be dead by nightfall.

The fact remained that Vil was a machine and he had survived where few men would, but he was now immobilised, crippled, broken bleeding and burned, surrounded by enemies and out of it.. still the Mandalorian spirit remained within his broken body, sadly, spirit was not everything, and his capture was now all but inevitable.

The fighters around took care of any threatening wildlife in the sealed off area which could threaten a landing team.

Carefully treading the area between the gouges the turbolasers were driving in the land about them, and coordinating its flight with the ships computer, the Aegis-class shuttle trod, approaching a hundred meters above Vil, not taking any chances as the two men aboard fired stun blasts repeatedly into his form, pounding him deeper into unconciousness.

Once he was out, the shuttle would land and place him on a stretcher, stripping him of his armour, the droids starting emergency medical care, assuring the level of sedatives was high enough in him to assure he did not wake up in the middle of surgery. He was then strapped in with kinetic fields and the droids operated on him, seeking to repair his injuries as the shuttle skimmed back towards orbit and the medical bay it was directed to. They could save this man, he had fought well, and would live to fight another day, but how, and where.. was the real question.

The events though wouldn't go as Park had expected, even though Vil had ordered his own men not in interfer in the duel, it didnt stop them from keeping track of what was going on. The moment the sensors at the Albata Ing base (approved by management in the request, the base also includes a sensor array that allows for them to track ships in the system, as well as a jamming array keeping the base invisble to scanning) picked up the weapons fire, their medical droids were loaded onto the shuttles, and the ships were lifted off. (Park said that a jammer was put into place to prevent Vil from broadcasting a message, but not preventing anyone else in the system from picking up the weapons fire.) While in route, they had been warned about the ships in orbit, over Vil's position. They didn't have much time left, and they knew this, the pilots coaxing as much speed as they could out of the ships. Vil would regain enough conciousness in what seemed to be his last moments, watching the final burst of missiles and turbolaser fire rain down. In the last few seconds though he would see a large blurry shadow or a form hovering over him. His leg in fact would not be hit, nor would the creature near him as the Corellian Star Shuttle hovered over the body of Vil. The missiles and turbolaser fire struck the powerful defelctor shields of the Corellian Star Shuttle as its own turbolaser cannons were aimed upwards at the fireing ship. Returning fire with a rapid response.

Beneath the shuttle two Nu Class attack shuttles quickly darted under, one keeping track of the fighters still in the air as the two unleashed a quick burst of laser cannon fire. One of the two shuttles slowly let down on the dusted and burning floor of the forest. The ramp opening as a group of mandalorian soldiers rushed out, two of them carrying portable missile launchers as they kept track of the fighters, each aiming and waiting for locks as they gave the others a chance to do their work. Colonel was the one leading the group as they approached Vil, their own stretcher ready as the second shuttle slowly circled under the Corellian star shuttle. Every now and again it would fire off a few quick burst as the fighters, or the aegis shuttle in the area.

The men on the ground quickly moved Vil onto the stretcher as they lift it up and rushed him on board. The medical droids already in the passanger area as the last of the men boarded. The ramp pulling up as the shuttle lift up and joined the second Nu Class Attack shuttle. The two sending a message to the Corellian Star shuttle that let off a last quick burst of Turbolaser fire. The unsuspected barrage of turbolaser fire would be damaging to the ship in orbit, as it would with any ship that didnt have its shields up (no previous post of Park's has said that the shields on his corvette were powered up or on.) The three shuttles began to break away as they rushed over the canopy of large mushrooms. The three ships speed being their main defense now as the pilots ran along the contour of the world, moving in a back and forth weaving line to prevent any lock on the ships as they all broke off. Each of the three breaking for orbit as they tore through the atmosphere.

The three ships though would not return to base, as they didnt want to risk leading Park and the Empire to the front door of their base. The pilots all began to bring up their hyperdrives, setting course to jump away from the Felucian system. The hyperdrive engines began to warm up as the three ships headed towards the edge of the system. Knowing that it would take a while to get the hyperdrive started up. On the Nu Class shuttle though the medical droids had already removed Vil's armor, along with his helmet, only being allowed to do so in such a dire necessity. The droids began to work on his extensive injuries, the wound on his side alone enough to have caused him a large loss of blood. Extensive burns, and various other internal injuries marked the rest of the chart. So much so that the droids nearly didnt know where to begin in the scheme of things. They knew though that they had their job to keep Vil from dying as the pilots of the three craft continued towards the edge of the Felucian system, ready to jump to hyperspace, just having to wait a little longer.
