Captain Alarius, astonished with how pear shaped things had gone nodded as he saw the damage report from the Nebulon-B frigate. It had had its shields battered down and was starting to suffer hull damage, but before anything major could be done the Hapans had blown up their own ship. "Useless bastards!" exclaimed Alarius, ordering a status report from the Squadron. A communication was broadcast to the Hapans, that they should remain off the streets and not attempt to impede Imperial personnel, any attempt to do so would result in lethal force. The comms jamming was kept in place for hypercomm transmissions off the planet. The Hapans had thrown in their lot in by refusing Imperial orders and had seen the consequences, and they better hope they did not do it again.

Further communication was sent to high command, giving damage reports.

The corvettes moved out and about around the squadron, moving into picket positions except the one in the atmosphere. Half of the fighters returned to their landing places, except the 24 from the Invulnerable which went into the atmosphere to help support the landing which was expected. Any vessels which attempted to leave Parein II, as per the blockade would be intercepted and destroyed.

The damaged Lacerator moved off after the Invulnerable, using its tractor beams to stabilize its orbit and sending shuttles in to help repair the damage to the vessel enough to get power back online. Still, the casualties were appalling, 90% of the troopers onboard had been in the hangar awaiting deployment and were so dead, accounting for 900, plus roughly 50% of the crew including the whole command cadre, bringing the estimated casualty number to 1500 dead, with hundreds more wounded.

From the Invincible the 800 Imperial Army Troopers and 200 Stormtroopers began to be unloaded to the planet via Grek-class Troop Transports, strike teams of stormtroopers moving in first, securing the spaceport, any landing pads and any governmental buildings. Any attempt to contest this initial wave of assault would find itself opposed by intense laser fire from the TIE fighters in the atmosphere. Further waves were also landed with some medium and light vehicles, which would approach the settlement itself from the north and south via the ground.

Shuttles also descended from the group, carrying down to the planet (a goodly distance from the Hapan settlement) enough power generators and fuel, as well as tents and a pair of anti-air laser cannons to support them in the event of an emergency. A basic setup was rigged at the camp, and technicians and a dozen troopers were landed also to help keep an eye on the place and provide logistical cover for the fighters when they had to land. The plan was to keep the fighters from the Invulnerable planetside for now, as part of the garrison, rationed and supplied in this landing strip.

The Hapan settlement, as they considered it, was actually one of Parein II's cities with Hapan structures that had been built within and about the cities; part of the melding process that the present government of Parein II had only been too happy to oblige; the revenue had brought jobs and increased wealth to the planet. However, the citizens from both sides followed orders to remain indoors, and on Presidium Da'shune's orders, the Hapan ground forces, which did outnumber the Imperial troops by a good margin, took no action to impede their progress as they secured spaceport and government buildings. Quite the opposite, as the Hapan upper echelon worked with the Parein II government to broadcast calming messages throughout the city and ensuring the common people were not caught up in something that would lead to unnecessary problems. For the time being, it seemed everything was up in the air.

As the Imperial forces moved in, shuttles moved to "rescue" any hapan crewmen who had bailed out in escape pods and would now be scattered around the planet. Once found they were returned to orbit.

Imperial Forces would move to disarm the Hapan forces as quickly as possible. Further forces would move to secure banks and all important civic assets. There were multiple atrocities committed, in the quiet. Any Hapan refugee who so much as put a foot out of line was driven out of the city by Imperial Troopers and was simply shot, their bodies burned and the remains raked over.

A group of 30 Stormtroopers arrived at the Hapan Refugees command center (where Oriel had landed) landing on the same pad as Oriel had landed on and moving to the doors of the building. A Captain, in charge of the Stormtroopers lead them down from the Grek-class shuttle in a column and knocked on the door of the residence. "Open up, Imperial Forces" he would shout, as 20 of his troopers fanned out and around the building to prevent escape from any other exits. "Presidium Da'shune is under arrest and will present himself immediately. All members of "Independent Hapan Nation" military and government are to be considered under arrest with immediate effect, to determine their complicity in the Murder and Massacre of 1500 Imperial Military Personnel, including the Sector Governor in an extraordinary act of treason."

Any Hapan government or military members who did not surrender when the Imperial Troopers arrived would find themselves executed in a summary matter. The Empire was coming down like a ton of bricks upon these rebellious dogs who had invaded their space. Guided by local Imperial Citizens they were able to help isolate Hapans homes easily. Several were pillaged and ransacked by Imperial Troopers. Others were set alight by locals, actions which the Imperial Military made no effort to stop.

Such destructive actions by vandals were stopped by other locals who had, by and large, benefited from the Hapan arrival. Loyalty to the Empire was in some ways a tenuous thing on Parein II, which had seen no Imperial governor or real overseer since the Empire's rise and had largely been left alone even when under the Galactic Republic. If anything, the Imperial troops might be confronted with riots as citizens turned against citizens and the local law enforcement, constrained by the Imperial presence, were powerless to halt the issue. While several Hapans were murdered by Imperial soldiers, by and large, the Hapans who lived on Parein II were compliant with the wishes of their captors.

At the government building, an aide answered the knock from the Captain, then stood aside as Da'shune, followed by those within the building, nearly sixty people including the Hapan guards, stepped forward into a formation. Inspecting the rank of the man before him, Da'shune nodded to himself and then squared his shoulders. "As you wish, Captain. See that my people are treated fairly, if you would be so kind. They had no part in the horrific deeds that occurred today."

"Kick the living crap out of him if you will Sergeant" said the Captain "I think he means he is resisting arrest". A sergeant loomed forward and clubbed down on Kso, intending to slam his fist into the man's sternum and wind him. If not obstructed, they would give him a sound beating and drag him back to the shuttle, from there Kso would be returned to the Invincible in orbit.

The troopers would then move into building, arresting everyone present and beating most they found very thoroughly. Imperial Army troopers arrived some minutes later and took part in the operation by taking the lead in the looting (any Hapan guns of control, important schematics, computers and Rainbow gems were handed in and retrieved to orbit everything else was fair game for the men).

Any rioters who opposed the Imperial forces would simply be shot, the Imperial Forces were soldiers not policemen and would follow standard Imperial procedure and execute any protesters in the warzone who threatened operations. Once things were pacified and the Hapan soldiers disarmed and their databases seized, the Hapans would start to be shipped off to orbit wholesale (the civilians that is). Being driven out of the city, forced to strip and be searched in order to prevent any trouble or technology coming into the Imperial ships.

Once rounded up they would be taken up to orbit and kept in the floors of the Hangars in the large ships, the blast doors sealed and guarded. Alarius was taking the sensible precaution of concentrating the Hapan population aboard the vessels wide hangars and storage areas (each arrival was scanned for weapons to double check). Naked and uncared for they would be provided with no sanitary facilities and a quantity of sack cloth in which to dress themselves, little food was provided and no medical care. Many hapan women were beaten and humiliated, but not on an organised basis.

The Hapan Military and Government members would also be driven out of the cities and forced to disrobe, being searched and scanned before being shipped up to cargo bays in the Imperial Customs Frigates, these vessels would then begin to ferry them to the nearest Imperial Naval Dock. Any there were no space for would be placed in crude camps made by putting a death fence around an area of land (hundreds of KM distant from the cities) and guarded by a few dozen troopers. Officers were deported first to Imperial bases in order of rank.

K'so was enough of a military man to recognize that the Captain was angry at the situation. He should have been a smart enough officer to be upset at his former leadership as well. It seemed that if K'so was going to be resisting arrest, it would hardly be the first beating he'd encountered in his life and was, by and far, one of the less horrible ones he'd suffered at the hands of his trainers. There was little he could do to halt the beating of other Hapans and it was like as not that some Hapans would strike back. Whether or not their martial prowess overcame their captors was an even toss-up. Items such as rainbow gems, guns of command and indeed important schematics would not be found. Da'shune had not been fool enough to place such resources within easy grasp of a fledgling planet on which they'd landed. The sparse handful of rainbow gems, if not hoarded away or spent or transferred off-world, would be in the hands of Parein II's government officials. By and large, the troopers could loot some works of art and rather nice furniture, as well as standard Imperial machines of office work if they chose.

Shooting rioters in such a large city drove the population into hiding in some cases; in others, the population struck back, and it might well seem that the Imperials had not brought enough men. Anger a free people enough who have known no yoke for a very long time and like as not, you were apt to get stung. Any Hapan women who were raped or had an attempted rape against them were likely to show their captors a thing or two about Hapan military females: they were not as timid as the females of some races. More than one Imperial trooper would find himself gelded by one means or another, which, depending on the commanding officers of the Imperials, could go either way. Rape was not often tolerated, even in the Imperial forces.

As for the small government, it was not likely there were enough members to not fit aboard the ships and as such, there would be little need for camps.

Any hapan who resisted was shot. Officers took a very dim view of men being gelded. In some cases they would stop the atrocities but such was the rage in the Imperial forces against the Hapans that further acts of violence and resistance just caused a redoubling of violence.

Airstrikes were called in against protestors immediately if they attempted to protest further. This was not some organised movement but just the hotheads and the morons who had decided to betray the Empire. Organised rifle fire sliced down the crowds, complimented by aerial laser cannon blasts. Propaganda would be circulated that the people rioting were rebels who had brought the hapan invaders to their world, the hapans had been planning to install a matriarchy etc. The locals would be otherwise given good conditions and be allowed to move into the Hapan housing if they wishes. The few locals who protested would be cut down, most locals knew sense and would refrain from such an action which was legitimate as it was in breach of the previously declared instruction to remain inside (a curfew).

The government were shipped offworld, there to be tortured for any important information, the Hapans concentrated in inhumane, cold dank hangars in orbit. Thus came to an end the Independent Hapan Nation on Parein II. A new governor was emplaced swiftly and an extra regiment was called in from elsewhere in the Sector. As the planet had only a few thousand Imperial Citizen natives, the task would be simple.

If in doubt the new Governor would not hesitate to use the TIE Squadrons at his disposal to make targeted attacks on rebels. A proclamation was issued that all rebels would be shot. They were. The planet's Holonet connections were severed to prevent the locals wailing to the rest of the galactic community. Outbound travel was still heavily restricted and only organised flights were permitted carrying pre-screened personnel.

There were nearly three-hundred fifty thousand people between Parein II and it's four moons; inhabited satellites which had somehow been overlooked by Lestrade's forces; a lack of foresight. While the Hapan presence on the inhabited moons was small, the actions undertaken on Parein II would fuel a firestorm. Recordings from high-intensity cameras, satellites and so forth would record and pick up the mass of firing by airstrikes on a very populated city, which resulted in high casualties. The sullen populace was likely to grudgingly obey, but there would constantly be those who fought back in a guerrilla manner. In attempting to remove the Hapan presence, the Imperials had only created a larger monster.

Meanwhile, pictures, accounts and videos would find their way onto the Holonet and even into the hands of rebellious groups galaxy-wide. The infamous battle in which Lestrade perished would become a pivotal image, and Lestrade himself a laughingstock in some places more than likely. The Imperial propaganda was taken as such: propaganda, and primarily from the moons, local propaganda would spread as well: Lestrade had been cuckolded by a Hapan and was simply looking for revenge, or that he'd been unfit for command. Very few people believed that the Hapans had come to establish a matriarchy. The Hapan government, by and large, lacked information that would do the Empire much good. Most of their information was simply on the fact that they'd come to establish a free nation.

As had been discussed and established by Previous RP, the world was very sparsely inhabited, as were it's moons, barely a few thousand squatters and itinerant vagrants. These vagrants had lived the past years with no Imperial control, or no control at all. When the Hapans arrived very few (some dozens) might welcome the technology and money. Most, however, would simply resent the Hapans bringing government (and Imperial attention) to their unspoiled little dell.

There was no great upwelling of support or fellow feeling for the Hapans, they had invaded and brought the Empire's rule with them, they were thus detested by most who simply wished the Hapans (and Imperials) to be gone as soon as possible and so would make no effort at all to obstruct the

With the jamming in place at the local Holonet receivers and wider scale jamming in place, no photo or video would escape of the battle or the aftermath. Any who did attempt to transmit such would find themselves swiftly under arrest from Imperial Authorites.

The Hapans were cut from Parein II fairly cleanly, like a surgeon cutting rot from a wound, but what fate awaited them?

As had been approved in previous requests, the population was much larger for the planet and its moons, albeit most of the population was focused on Parein II. Perhaps the Imperial census takers had been mistaken. As with any major dictatorship, the locals would eventually be ground down and pacified, but also true would be that to say that no photo or video would escape the aftermath was an impossibility. Barring a door-to-door search of every single residential house on Parein II and its moons and a confiscation of every single camera, recording equipment and sensor, such a blockade of information would be unrealistic. The data that emerged in the aftermath would be small, but it did exist. Whether or not the galaxy chose to accept these facts would be for the future to hold.

So for now, the captured remnants of the IHN waited to see what would happen. Not all was lost yet. They had suffered a blow, true, but they had not come this far to fail in their goals.

Perhaps in the distant future some would are, but this was not the time. Even if there was 350,000 in the moons and planet this would likely only leave a few thousand in the capital itself. The belt was applied now asif to chastise a badly behaving child, in future kindness would be applied by the Empire, rebuilding and largesse.

In time it would come to the point where few would believe the detractors of the Empire. The Hapans had come and gone in a few weeks, and like a summer storm they were forgotten in the months which followed. Little allegiance to them would have ever formed, or would exist in the future.

And what had become of the IHN trading vessels? That was a mystery as well; one that was likely overlooked in the shuffle, but they had managed to vanish with their cargoes. It may not have been much, but so long as one element survived, the IHN would live on, at least in part. Who could say where they would turn up next? Parein II belonged to the Empire now, but not all worlds were owned by such.

Some freighters had escaped, that was all very well. But the fate for the remaining Hapans was bleak unless the IHN who has escaped could provide a compelling reason to not simply deport the remaining people to Hapan space.
