| "Useful parts? Eh, we got ores and such. Be honest with ya though, we've been here quite some time. Nova crystals all but dried up, and we've been havin' to dig deeper and deeper to get the good ore. Stuff towards the top's rubbish, y'know. More'n welcome to do that first contact operations. I'm sure the Tintinna'll be glad to see more people about. You'd be surprised what they can do with steam power, cap'n. Course, we'd be breachin' your flagship example unless we stayed outta the picture." The ships had slowly moved closer towards the moon and then beyond, easing past it and closer to the defensive guns.
"Might'n be we could share the burden of keepin' the peace from actual smugglers. We got a few cannons here; likely ya saw on the way in."

| Captain Jackson replied politely "How much are your ores fetching?" out of genuine interest. His family were metalworkers by trade and so this was a pertinent question.
From hyperspace a further DP20 exited, flanked on both sides by two Nebulon-B frigates. The five vessels exited hyperspace and were on full alert, shields being charged to full and weapons active. From their fighter bars screamed fully 48 TIE Fighters (half their compliment) The show of force was completed by the fighters looping around and forming up with the rest of the vessels which had emerged from the hyperspace point away from the asteroids and steamed towards Rinn.
The Alsakan Glory formed up with the delta shaped arrow of vessels, placing itself behind the other DP20 and so taking rearguard. Commodore Harkin opened the communicator channel to the people on Rinn and to the Miners. "This is COmmodore Harkin of the Alsakan Aegis Fleet. We are here to establish a base of operations for our world in this system. We intended to make first contact and negotiate with the locals, as they are already tainted by your influence we declare Rinn to be a possession and protectorate of Alsakan. We will introduce a planetary governor appointed by myself who will govern Rinn for the good of the natives. As for you miners, you may keep your mines and mining rights, but all armed platforms must be immediately surrendered or dismantled. Your vessels (which I note are illegal under the Capital Vessels Act) are to be removed or surrendered also. Please reply with immediate notice of compliance."

| With the arrival of the Alsakan fleet, the vessels moved in an obvious retreat towards the asteroid field. Again, the drawling voice came over the radio. It was a good thing, of course, that so much distance had been put between themselves and the Alsakan fleet as it stood so that running into the asteroid field would present little issue. "Well Commodore, I suppose I can;t hold your cap'n there to his deal. I suppose we'll do as you say and take our platforms and ships and leave this place. Almost more trouble than its worth, y'know, but these ships we use to make our living, so we'll take your first option and skedaddle to make room for the rest of you boys. Fair enough, that?"

| The Alsakan Fleet would move inwards. The fighters would see that the smugglers or miners left with their platforms. As soon as they were a goodly distance gone (had jumped for hyperspace) shuttles would land with diplomats under guard take ownership of Rinn's singular city.
They would also (with their full scans from all their ships) notice that the inactive platforms and mines, politely sending a reminder to the smugglers to get rid of them too. They were given half an hour. The fleet was moved (before the people left of course) within gunnery range of their vessels but out of gunnery range of their stati defences. Just to ensure no duplicity.
Once the smugglers had left the Anaxes Aegis Fleet would maintain a geostationary orbit over the capital, keeping pickets and patrols out. They also deployed probes around the system to give them five minutes warning of inbound craft.

| As complied with, the trio of craft did indeed attack themselves via towing lines to the stations, intending to tow them out and away, while the mines were retrieved and stowed aboard. All in all, the departure was made without issue and before long, all of the 'smuggler' assets were out of the system, leaving behind no real trace that the Red Mynocks had ever based at Rinn.
Of course, the planet itself was a different story. When the Alsakan shuttles headed down for New Haven, they would breach atmosphere without incident, they would reach a point about a kilometer out when they would come under attack from behind the walled city. A pair of dormant IG-227 Hailfire droids, kept from prying eyes within a pair of silos, had been activated. After all, a quarter of Shiva's manpower (read, living) worked the planet alongside the loyal Tintinna. The hour that had been bought for them by the Red Mynocks had been put to good use. a flurry communications had gone into effect, allowing the men working the current shift in the mines to prepare, as well as those in New Haven. Word had gone out to the closest Tintinna cities to expect trouble; that the invaders in orbit were cruel and abnormal men who had come to destroy them all.
While documents were being burned and data disks smashed across certain offices within the city, more of Shiva's men had been stocking their weapons and making ready to retreat underground. A light defense force had been left above the city as well. It was from this force that the first blow was struck, as each Hailfire droid fired two homing missiles at each incoming shuttle.

| The well shielded boarding shuttles made evasive manouvres as the fire came inbound. They made moves to retreat to orbit, one of the two was struck by a missile but its heavy shielding defended it as it skimmed away out of the atmosphere. There was a discussion on the matter by the orbiting Alsakans. The decision was made to send negotiators to the tribes, as such representations were sent down (away from the heavily defended city) by trained contact agents, with gifts and presents for the rat people. These agents, adept in diplomacy would likely be able to undo the sour rumours from the rat men. Shuttles were dispatched also to the moon, dropping off droid crews to check for booby traps etc.
A communication was opened on all channels to the Separatists who fired upon them. "People of Rinn, this is Commodore Harkin of the Alsakan Aegis Fleet. We are here for your protection and not to make war upon you. You just fired on us with a Separatist weapon, you do realize, do you not, that the Clone Wars have ended, the Galaxy is once more at peace. Come now, power down your weapons and we can negotiate a peaceful end to this. Disarm and surrender to us immediately and we will spare your lives and return you home (as per the peace treaty). If you do not surrender now, I will be forced to report your forces to the Imperial Government which rules what you knew as the Republic. They are unlikely to offer these generous terms."
All the while the Nebulon-B Frigates prepared their Ion cannons to target power grids etc in the city, the Gunships prepared Ion Bombs. An assessment was made that it would be impracticable to take the position by force with presently available forces, as such they would simply observe for now. A message was prepared for dispatch to the Imperial Authorities in the event that a refusal was made.

| The reply that came back was not tinged with worry or fear. It was, if anything, amused and relaxed. "Commodore, you and the Alsakan people aren't welcome here, not is the Empire, its Imperial Government or that joke you call an Emperor. It would take more people than you have to root us out of this moon and with our allies here, we're rather comfortably entrenched. Besides, it wouldn't be quite right to allow the master to have his house taken over when he's not in, wouldn't you agree. We'll offer you some terms in exchange. Leave Rinn, withdraw your forces in a timely manner and we won't lay waste to you. The war might be over, but people who don't want a part of your Empire aren't really welcome anywhere, aside from in body bags."
The droid crews that landed on the moon would find it free of booby traps. The listening post and communications relay was simply what it was made out to be, and no Alsakan droids would be damaged there. A large number of New Haven's primary power relays and systems were buried, which would protect in some ways from an ion assault, but by far more numerous were the underground systems, powering the defenses below and within the more important command area and living quarters which covered perhaps a square mile. Most of the defenders had retreated to this deep sub-level, leaving the pair of Hailfire droids and a handful of defenders within the city, whose walls of only sixty feet were not a determined deterrent.
The problem of approaching the Tintinna was two-fold. Word traveled fast among the small communities and they had been told that visitors would bear gifts and promises and then, once they'd been lulled into submission, they would be captured, experimented upon and likely even consumed. If these contact agents had not come equipped with protocol droids with good knowledge of the language, they'd be met with fierce resistance with slug weapons as well as blasters. After all, the Tintinna were not widespread and their language was not likely known off-hand, and even fewer among them spoke basic. Each Tintinna tribe had a chief and a shaman, and many of the shamans feared and respected the 'god-like' powers of Shiva and as such, were far more prone to believe the words of Shiva's men, who'd never harmed them only helped them, over strangers, gifts or no. This is not to say that Tintinna elsewhere on other continents would not believe the Alsakans, but this continent and even a few Tintinna populaces on others would not be convinced. If the contact teams did have a droid or a translator of some kind, the Tintinna would welcome them in... and then fall upon them with abandon, slaughtering them to a man where possible and even going so far as to destroy any shuttles they could that were landed.

| "You are lucky we are not orbitally bombarding you Separatists. However, we try to avoid this in all but essential circumstances. Consider yourself blockaded, I have summoned the Imperial Navy.".
The contact teams would pull out when fired upon, simply refusing to get killed for these rat people. If the people had been made barbarous by these Separatists then that was not unexpected and they would be left to their own affairs.
The ships in orbit began to blockade the world, jamming its hypercomms. A small boarding crew moved into the facilities on the moon to secure them for Alsakan, using droids to get them into the computer systems onboard and establish essential systems. Any ships which attempted the run in or out would be intercepted by TIE Fighters. The world was under lockdown until the Imperial Navy arrived.

| It would take some time for the Imperial Navy to arrive at Rinn. In this time, Shiva's men weren't likely to sit around waiting for the Alsakans to leave. The main entrances to the depleted mines were collapsed, sealing those paths in. Using the Tintinna's own massive network of underground tunnels, food and supplies were stored away, while the primitive trains and steam cars that could cross the surface world and not register on scanners that sought out high-powered power sources ferried Tintinna irregulars and chieftains and shamans to and fro, spreading the word further. The bodies of the Alsakan slain were dismembered and burned, but any weapons or items of use scavenged from their shuttles.
In New Haven, the city was blacked out and empty. Any actual documents, records of trade, computer systems or items otherwise that could tie Shiva to any specific groups off-world had been destroyed down to the last byte. Data wipes and a few blaster shots, as well as good ole' fashioned fire had seen to that. The pair of Hailfire droids had been rolled back under hardened shelter and onto large lifts that brought them down to what would be akin to a sub-level parking garage, some fifty feet beneath the surface, where they were deactivated.

| The shuttles, using automated slave circuits were returned (with as many diplomats who had escaped), every effort was made to save killing the locals. Scans were made across the planet for any space vehicles or hangars which might be targeted. Any identified were marked and targeted for future reference and ease.
The Alsakans waited, simply blockading the planet and not causing any harm.
Contrary to the belief of the Separatists, many of the rat men were not loyal to them (as stated in the Rinn request) and contact units of droids (landed carefully at a distance) would be sent to negotiate with tribes a goodly distance from the city, on other continents, to negotiate with them peacefully. Also, being a tribal society the idea of them being unified is highly implausible as with their own internal power struggles they were unlikely to join together against a foe who hadnt attacked them. The nature of tribal society would effectively turn against the Separatists to an extent. While many had done well and profited from the offworlders, these who had profited had used the profit to the detriment of other tribes (in many cases), thus some would be exceptionally responsive to the polite Alsakans who had approached them peacefully with gifts, especially as most (notably all recorded in the canon) Tintinnia were not aggressive or militaristic, but rather charming and friendly.
Their tunnels would also prove not incredibly useful (except ones specially enlarged) as the Tintinnia were on average 90cm tall (not tall enough for a human to kneel) so the humans if they wished to proceed into these tunnels would be faced by crawling through dark, damp soil tunnels with little space to move (rat tunnels are very tight fitting) and little air, the conditions in tunnels not previously expanded would be horribly claustrophobic to the point of causing extreme fear if travelled through any distance.

| As stated in the request, it was, in fact, many of the Tintinna who did come to work with Shiva's forces, but of course, on five major continents, only the continent in which New Haven was situated had held any real dealings with Shiva's troops, to go as far as to say that the other four continents had been ignored would not be wrong. As such, it was therefore true that 'many of the Tintinna' speaking in a world-wide manner, would respond favorably to the Alsakan forces. Even tribal societies could be unified with a common purpose (as evidenced by the multiple tribes of Afghanistan against the Russians), and as the shamans, often said to be the 'true power' behind thrones, esteemed Shiva nearly in a cult of personality sort of way; their provider, their savior and their best friend, as well as a near-god figure, it was quite plausible they would listen to those they viewed as his 'prophets.'
Simply because a creature was 'usually' friendly or likely not to be violent did not mean it was always the case, especially when the possibility of dire threats hung over their heads. True, the polite Alsakans who approached the Tintinna on other continents would more than likely be met with either cautious (as the Alsakans were strangers) or warm welcomes, the case was anything but on the continent that Shiva's men had settled on. When in regards to the tunnels, the Tintinna were capable of storing food and arms and transporting in subterranean methods far easier than the humans, which was why they were perfect for the job. Constant reassurance that the enemy would be driven off was given to help soothe and reinforce the Tintinna's belief that Shiva was all-powerful. Thankfully though, there were a number of tunnels that had been excavated by Shiva's men as well. Also fortunately, there was a marked lack of 'secret hangars' on the world; only New Haven's port was noted, but there were neither space vehicles nor hangars to be noted, save a single unarmed freighter that sat on a landing pad at New Haven.

It was still prior to any real Imperial arrival when the Alsakan flagship would be hailed from the surface, providing such communications were not jammed. The holographic image of a hooded and cloaked man would appear before the Alsakan captain. "Alsakan naval forces, you are trespassing on territory belonging to Shiva. I will give you one chance to depart before I bring destruction to Alsakan. Do not test me, captain."

| Commodore Harkin was not so easily intimidated - but neither was he a fool. "Relay this communication to Alsakan and to the Imperial Navy." he spoke gesturing to a communications Lieutenant. The man reached for the comms and broadcast to Holt, Hines and Home the communication they had received. "Threatening us will not help Separatists, we are men of Alsakan, bold and fearless. We are not afraid of your words."

| The image of Shiva laughed, shaking his head. "Bold and fearless? Hah! You're a joke, Commodore. If you and all Alsakan people are so brave, why do you run from Rinn? Do you sit and wait for Imperial lackeys to come and try to rout us? I forget, you people these days have forgotten what honorable combat is. I call you a coward, Commodore. If you were a man of any real stature, you would have committed troops yourself to dislodge us. Instead, you wait. I will make sure this transmission is saved, so as to better mock the weak Alsakan people once this is done."
