The Escapade made its way through hyperspace, heading for a place that had been making a name for itself lately within the news from Imperial Center. The Cronese Mandate, a somewhat-independent member of the Empire, seemed as if it would make a good purpose for two ends. As the sole remaining member of the Vaughn family, Darius was tasked with ensuring that trade and profits continued to rise for Vaughn Shipping. The secondary mission came from a hopeful chance that he could find like-minded folks who would be sympathetic to the cause of the Libs; that is to say, with an anti-Imperial mindset. Such a mission would take time and effort though, and it seemed best to start at the top if he were to have any success with either mission.

Dropping out of hyperspace at the normal distance from a planet, he emerged near Chandaar, capital of the Mandate. His ship broadcast the proper IFF codes, marking him under the Vaughn Shipping Company as well as the ship being registered with a dual registry, that of the shipping company and that of his own person, Darius Vaughn.

In moments he would find his own vessel flanked by a pair of starfighters, a communication coming from the surface of Chandaar as the local starport took over. "Please follow the fighters down to the dock that has been assigned to you. Due to recent attacks all vessels must undergo a security check, as well as search to ensure the safety of the people. We're sorry for any problems it may cause you." The two starfighters remained at the flanks of the ship, the path and flight trajectory having also been transmitted to the ship to help facilitate a safe landing.

"Not a problem, Chandaar Control. Coming about to the new heading."

Shifting the ship's flight path slightly, he gave a wave through his cockpit to the port-side fighter (not being able to see the starboard side craft) and continued down into the atmosphere with his escorts to the assigned dock. He'd brought little in the way of cargo; his ship was not quite intended to transport it after all, though he could do such if the need arose. Cargo, or extra passengers, that is. The interior of the ship was kept hospital-clean; every surface gleaming and fresh and smelling as nice as possible. Of weapons, they would find a few; a DL-44 blaster pistol bought and registered on Tantra; a pair of Jengardin vibroblades kept in a sheath hanging from the back of the pilot's chair and a .48 caliber Enforcer pistol that was not matched to any planetary registry.

The two starfighters brought the vessel down to the docking pad, only breaking off when they weren't needed anymore and heading back to escort another vessel in. When the ship would land, the pilot would be able to see the waiting security personnel that would be inspecting his craft. The dock foreman waiting as he sent droids in to hook up the vessel to refuel it as security waited for the pilot to open the docking ramp.

Darius arose from the chair, having indeed spotted the dock foreman and security personnel. With a deft flip of the wrist as he moved around the pilot's console, he hooked his weapons belt around his waist, bringing the familiar weight of the matched vibroblades to rest on the rear portions of his hip while the DL-44 sat down on his right thigh. Finishing the buckle fastening, he made his way down to the cargo hold and struck the button to open the hatch. He didn't waste time waiting for it to open fully, moving downwards so that his feet hit the docking pad's ferrocrete surface as the ramp itself did.

He offered a smile and a wave to the dock foreman before clasping his hands behind his back, military fashion, to await the security team.

The head of the security force would flip through the papers handed to him by the dock foreman, before he looked to the man. "We're sorry, due to attacks in the Mandate, we've had to step up security. We apologize in advance for any complications it may add to your visit." He then signaled to the men with him, four of the six boarding the vessel to check it as they began to search for any illegal contents or any persons be smuggled into the Mandate.

"Oh, not a problem sir. You'll find the papers in order and I assure you, I carry nothing illegal." Indeed, the only thing remotely questionable was the Enforcer pistol still holstered in the cockpit. Other than that, the ship was fully clean. "So... Mandate's been having trouble of some sort? It's got to be bad if you're stepping up security measures. Tell me, in your opinion sir, have I perhaps come at a bad time to try to find trading outlets?"

With the man's silence, Darius began to whistle a jaunty little tune, hoping for an answer. If none was forthcoming, he would take his trade elsewhere.

The security team took its time searching the vessel before reporting back as they gave the initial report to the starport security head before he looked over it and stamped it off before he handed it to the man to sign. "you'll find no trouble in finding trade outlets in the Mandate." He handed the datapad to the man before speaking again. "Please sign this so we can send you on your way and prevent any more of a hold up."

Darius signed the datapad with a flourish and handed it back to the head of security. "Good man, good man. Could you perhaps direct me to whomever the minister of trade is within the Mandate? I don't want to step on any toes, you see, so I figure I should bring my proposals before the Mandate before engaging in trade."

Since an answer was short in forthcoming, Darius ventured another question. "What about that Senator fellow? Zarcaine? Or his replacement, Robeir? Perhaps those are the men a wealthy and influential tradesman needs to speak to. Can you direct me to them?"

((I keep forgetting about this one, sorry))

The head of security was busy making sure everything was in order, the question still in his mind, although his attention was elsewhere, when he turned back he handed the forms back to Vaughn, a temporary landing permit that showed he was here on business before he spoke. "Robeir isn't a senator, he's the Head of the House of Cron, ruler of the Cronese Mandate, getting a Wampa to talk would be easier than getting an audience with him and his busy day. Lord Kuriyoshi spends more time at home with his family now than anyone has seen him, the current Representative for the Mandate is Mr. Goodchild, he's on Coruscant though. If you head into the capital I'm sure you can make an appointment to speak with one of Robeir XXII aides in the way of setting up trade."

(( Haha. It's ok. ))

Darius looked disappointed for a long moment and sighed. "Underlings, sir. Underlings." Taking a quick glance around, he leaned in towards the man. "Some of the ruling families of Tantra have sent me with specific offers for Lord Robeir. If he was unavailable, I was instructed to address Lord Kuriyoshi. Barring that, I suppose I could wait to speak to Mr. Goodchild, but it's rather urgent business. Is there any way to gain some kind of audience, sir? I understand that with the current political state of the Mandate, Lord Robeir likely has better things to do than to see me, but I would appreciate any help you can give."

The man shook his head. "I'm just the port authority, I wouldn't know how to get an audience with them." He stepped back as he looked to the datapad in his hand before noticing that another ship was beginning to land as he began to leave. "If you'll excuse me, work and all. You might have a better chance if you go to the government building and try to set up an appointment." He stepped out of the dock and down the large exterior halls as he went to check the new ship.

The government building? It wasn't as if Vaughn had all the time in the world. Well, at least in one way this visit wasn't a total loss: he was able to walk away with information pertaining to trade. As the man walked away, Vaughn would board his ship once again, transmit clearance for takeoff and depart the world.
