| After having left what would be one of his most boring bounty hunting assignments ever, and an unjustly one at best, the Kath Hound's Fangs had been inside the hyperspace for hours now. The FA-4 pilot droid were playing dejarik with the B2-X computer unit inside the main galley. The Prowler were simply drifting around the ship, giving a series of beeping to indicate that it had been complaining of boredom. As of the mild-mannered bounty hunter himself, he had been sleeping on the pilot chair with his legs crossed and rested carefully on the ship controls.
All of sudden, a loud series of beeping had awoken Jak. It had come from the ship controls. Immediately, the man would pull his legs away from the controls and put his hands to it in order to have a proper look at the screen. The ship had indicated that it was low on fuel. "Damnit!" He shouted to himself. Either the Eos Corporation had siphoned the fuel off his ship, or he had miscalculated the amount of fuel needed to make a trek to the other side of the Outer Rim. Either way, he had no choice but to drop out of hyperspace not knowing where he would have dropped into.
The YT-1300 light freighter would drop into a middle of empty space, with nothing else in sight except a space station. The FA-5 would scramble toward the cockpit and began speaking in droid language. "Let's hope this place has fuel." He spoke in a firm tone toward his droid companion, as he took a moment of glancing at the station. It doesn't appear to be a military installation, which means it isn't being used for defense. It looked a lot like a research center he came upon a few years back. "This is captain of Kath Hound's Fangs, my ship is in need of fuel."
After several seconds had been passed, and the channel remained silent, he called out a couple more times and received nothing. "I don't like this." The YT-1300 freighter would slowly land onto a hangar bay of the research center. The engines were revved down, and he had ordered the droids to stay on board. Jak grabbed the belt, which contained the D18 pistol, and put it on his waist. The bounty hunter proceeded to put a combat knife into one of his boots, and grabbed the Heavy Lightning Rifle, strapping it to his back. Lastly, he would grab his favorite and only hat so he could put it on his head.
The landing ramp would be opened up by one of the droids, as the bounty hunter walked down the ramp. What happened next sent an eerie feeling up his spine. There was nobody in the hangar bay, no sounds at all. What had happened to this place?

| There would have been no response aside from static to Jak Merston's ship from the space station. Even the static was barely there and it crackled through the speakers intermittently. The hanger bay was abandoned, the paint peeling and rust showing through as it slowly started to eat the metal. The lights that were actually on flickered tirelessly, one bulb dying at a time. There was no one there to maintain it, and as far as Jak would be able to tell, it had been a long time since there had been someone.
If he would move on, he would find the corridors much in the same condition. There were no signs of life, at least in recent months, in the space station. The mess area, bunks, everything was abandoned. One thing he would find interesting were a series of rooms.
Each one had a hi-lo medical table, equipped with restraining straps. Each room had locked cabinets and refrigerated units filled with small jars of serum. Jars of gauze pads, alcohol swabs, bacta patches, and other equipment lined the counters. It was odd, and almost looked like it might have been a medical station at one time. The rooms were anything but clean after months of not being used. In some, blood stained walls, floor, and table.
Jak hadn't seen her yet, but she had seen him on a flickering holo feed after she heard a ship and then footsteps. Of course she had run and she was hiding in one of the dark, back rooms. No one was taking her again, no matter who it was.

| Everything he had seen so far inside this space station had given off a lot of evidences that it had been abadoned for quite a while. Perhaps months. The question is, why was it abandoned in the first place? "Should I stick around and find out?" Jak wondered to himself. He had a bad feeling about where he had docked at. One doesn't survive in the Outer Rim long enough without developing a good survival instincts. That was the moment he took the D18 pistol out, and bent his arm to point the pistol at the ceiling as a sign of being cautious.
Everything was darker than it was supposed to be inside a space station. Space is really dark, except for millions of stars naturally reflecting the light off. A typical station would have to spend a lot of money to keep the lights running indefinitely, this clearly wasn't the case here. He continued to walk past a lot of rooms with medical supplies and equipment within each one. It's becoming more apparent that it was a medical facility of some kind. Perhaps one owned by the Imperial government. If so, wouldn't they have convert the station into something else if something had gone wrong or at least blow it up? Two possible scenarios played in his own mind: The medical facility is not sponsored by the Imperials, or something forced them to abandon it.
The bounty hunter slowly took a look in every room, left and right. All while the lights were flickering. That part bothered him the most, not because it's eerie but because it's an annoying sight. The condition of the station simply made him alert, especially when there were blood on the walls, floor, and the tables.

| It would not be long before Jak started finding bodies. Decomposing corpses littered halls and the doorways of rooms. It almost looked as if those that had died, were fleeing. In fact, the further he went he would note that they were heading for escape pods, though none were reached.
The stench would have been unbearable for him. Bodies gave off toxic fumes that could turn a persons stomach. Eve peered around a corner with a mirror to see what was going on. She saw a man moving through the hall, looking at the rooms, then of course she would witness him finding the corpses. She lowered the mirror and leaned against the wall for a moment before she got up and dashed down an empty corridor to find a place to hide.

| The bounty hunter began to cough a little bit. The smell was becoming stronger and stronger by the moment. It was a horrible one. He would pull a bandana from around his neck, bringing it to right below the eyes. It would help cover some of the smell, lessen the distaste in his mouth, and aids in the control of his breathing. There was another reason Jak made this move. This was so he wouldn't have to use his free arm to cover the nose and mouth, maintaining his composure.
He continued to generate a high interest in the surroundings, especially when he reached the escape pads. Jak was no expert at forensic science, but he could tell the bodies were running away from someone...or something and toward the escape pods. Obviously, they weren't successful. The man looked down at one of the bodies and used one of his boots to kick it lightly just for the hell of it. That was the moment he heard a series of footstep. He immediately raised his eyebrows and turned his head to the right, pointing the pistol toward the direction of the sound.
"Hello? Anyone there?" The bounty hunter slowly walked toward the source of the noise.

| Eve heard the voice behind her and she panicked. It had been weeks since she heard anyone speak, or seen anyone alive for that matter. For a moment, she stopped dead in her tracks. Just long enough that he would be able to catch a glimpse of tangled brown hair and pale, smudged skin, before she darted off again. The girl grabbed a hold of a ladder and started up it. If he was quick enough, he would have seen before she dissapeared. She was shoeless and the hem of her medical scrubs were tattered and filthy with dirt and blood. She moved as fast as she could to try and get herself hidden away. For all she knew, he was going to kill her like the others had.

| It was clear by now he wasn't hallucinating. Sure, he liked drinking a lot and sometimes take a little more pills than he should to lessen the pain he would occasionally retrieve during many of his missions. The bounty hunter was able to see the young lady in his sights, only for a couple of seconds before she darted off. "Hey, hold your varacytl!" He ran after the girl, trying to chase her down.
Keeping the D18 pistol in his hand, he managed to keep in pace with her. When she had come upon the ladder, it quickly turned in his favor. The ladder would only slow her down, especially with her feet bare. Using his free hand, right hand to be specifically, to grab ahold of her left ankle. Instead of letting her go on to fuss around, he wanted to keep things simple. He already had the pistol in his left hand, pointing up at the escaping lady. "Come down! I ain't gonna shoot you unless you're tryin' to poke me in the eye."

| The bareness of her feet barely slowed her on the ladder, but he was faster. She felt his fingers wrap around her ankle and she let out a shriek and she slipped. Luckily, she was able to cling to the rungs with her hands and she tried to shake him off.
"Let me go!" She screamed, her voice hoarse but hysterical. The pistol in his hand didn't frighten her much, but the grip on her ankle did. The rest of them had been killed with bare hands, not guns. Eve tried, in vain, to shake loose. In her haste, she lost her grip and toppled down the ladder and crashed down on top of Jak.
Immediately, Eve would try and scramble to her feet to run, but she found very quickly that she could barely stand, let alone run.

| Immediately after, the lady came crashing down onto him. The bounty hunter couldn't help but fell down onto the floor, on his back. His pistol fell onto the floor as well, but not far from him. It was simply unreachable from his point at this moment. But it didn't stop him from pulling a maneuver when she tried to run. For whatever reasons, she weren't able to move very far. Perhaps she wasn't the athletic type, who knows?
This gave Jak ample opportunity to use his left hand to pull her from the behind while still on the floor. Then, he pulled off two moves at once. His right hand would reach for the combat knife hidden inside one of his boots, all while his left would pull the lady onto his laps. Now that his legs had bent up a little bit, he was able to pull the knife a second faster and put it on her neck. "What did I say? I wasn't gonna hurt you, but if you make any sudden moves...well, I'd like to see you try, punk."

| As he pulled her down, he would hear a crack, like a bone snapping as she collapsed onto him. He would also notice how thin she was, unusually so for a girl her height. "Letmegoletmegoletmego." She said hastily until she felt the blade press against her neck. She clammed up really quickly then, but only for the moment.
Eve was in panic. She wasn't sure if he was going to hurt her or not. The others hadn't used weapons, but she was sure if they had access to them, they would have. "What do you want?"

| Jak kept his knife about an inch above the lady's neck, until she had calmed down a little bit. "I want to know what happened here." That was all he would say at the moment, slowly pulling the knife away from the lady and put it back into one of his boots. This move was to indicate that he wasn't a threat, but that he didn't have his left hand let go of her.

| "Why are you doing this? " Eve cried out, grasping her broken arm best she could with her free hand. "You don't want to know what happened here. No one does...no one cares." She said, rather cryptically. "Please just let me go. "
Eve tried to pull from his grasp, but he seemed to be holding fast. "You need to get out of this cursed place...you need to go now." As scared as she was, she didn't want anyone else to die.

| "Hey, I may just be a little ol' bounty hunter that had stumbled upon this place, but I need to know what happened." The bounty hunter decide to remove his bandana from the lower part of his face, revealing his face. "Now, what's this place? "

| She struggled a little, but he wasnt letting up. "It was a medical facility. A lab." She said, hoping that if she told him, he would let go and she could run. "They....they did experiments...and some of the people were mutated."Eve drew in a low breath and continued. " They broke out and killed everyone. I hid in one of the vents...I thought others had too..." she said, but there was no evidence of anyone else alive there.

| The suspicions Jak had when he first came into the station was confirmed. This was an Imperial research facility. However, he didn't expect her to say mutants. That isn't exactly something he has really heard of all that often. Mutants are usually mentioned in a scary campfire stories or in a horror movie over the HoloNet. However, this is not completely unheard of. There were old spacer's tales about mutants happening somewhere in the Outer Rim thousands of years prior.
He looked at the lady that were covered with all kinds of dirt, "Well, if what you said is true, then we oughta destroy this place before they get out. Now, you're going to help me. I won't cut you and feed you to them if you don't try to run away. Deal?"
