Valin was sitting quietly in his chair in the large meeting room, the circular table that filled most of it was empty for the moment, the other members of the council he was trying to rebuild were not there when the courier came into the room, no doubt bringing a reply from Lady Avadrie volFyr as it was handed over. Valin nodded as the courier was dismissed, the only problem with hiring couriers though was that they knew too much, and that was something that Valin couldn't allow, considering that the courier didn't work for him directly, nor was he a separatist like Valin was. As he opened the reply and began to read over it, the sounds of blasters discharging would echo through the hall, two security droids dealing with the courier as Valin didn't even bother to look up as the lifeless body was dragged from where it lay. A B2 battle droid having been tasked to lift the body as it was carried away before being thrown into the molten rivers of Queyta.

It appeared that Lady volFyr was willing to meet with Valin, or rather Mr. Winter as he had signed, on the world of Aargau, a perfect place for a meeting. It was neutral, as long as those that arrived followed its three rules, then they were often left alone, which meant that for Valin, it was a perfect place. He pushed himself up out of his chair as he took the reply, along with those that had come before it over to one of the many basins that held a fire within to provide extra light, only to throw them into the flames, burning any evidence of him having ever written the Senator, of course he figured that she was smart enough to destroy the communications he sent to her to prevent herself from being traced back to him if anything came up. After a moment of stretching he stepped out of the large meeting hall, heading towards the landing pads and a personal hanger where his own vessel was stored, passing other transports and ships along the way as he stepped into the solar sailer, of course a pilot droid did all the work, Valin merely needed to sit back and relax for the trip as the vessel slowly lifted off and headed through the atmosphere, breaking into orbit before the coordinates where put in for Aargau. His only concern now was to not keep the young woman waiting as he nodded to the droid and closed his eyes to rest as the ship jumped to hyperspace.

"I don't like it." Had been Captain Tiyr's response to it all, Prince Raphael didn't have a real opinion about it. She surmised that he was still having a hard time adjusting to being a member of her staff, and not just the privileged scion of the Tetan ruling family. She had also held a holographic conference with Empress Teta's minister of finance so that she would be freshly versed on the economic situation of her world and sector. After all, didn't this Mr. Winter wish to discuss economic opportunity in the Empress Teta sector?

Prince Raphael had pointed out that the world in question, Aargau, wasn't a seedy out of the way world. Avadrie felt silly for thinking she had never heard of it before, once she had sat down and given it a moment's thought, she'd remembered it from her economics classes in university. The three statutes would ostensibly provide safety enough, unless of course this Mr. Winter was native to the world and meant her harm, then it wouldn't. The fact that it was on Aargau brought up other considerations, why did this Mr. Winter want to meet on a world historically known for allowing anyone on any side of a conflict to do business there? It was beginning to seem more and more as if there might be something more illicit to Mr. Winter's request.

"What if it is something illicit?" Dandric had brought up next.

"Then I'll say thanks but no thanks and report it to the proper authorities?" Had been her ready answer for her staff. The truth was that it would depend on what any kind of illicit proposal actually was, its individual merits and risks of course. Perhaps there might be something to gain from all this, if it was some kind of shady business deal or the like. In matters such as this, there are usually various routes to gain advantage from them, even if they aren't at first apparent.

Of course, the official reason for her visit to the world would be to meet with the central bank there regarding certain affairs between that world and her own, and she had been considering setting up a private account for herself on the world on the down low. It might suit her later to have resources hidden away, who knew in today's tumultuous galaxy.

She'd ordered Captain Tiyr to prepare the Star Petal and had gone about making her own preparations for the trip. She had contacted Moff Brandt after all; so she made sure that any return messages would be forwarded to the ship's holonet receiver so that she'd be able to promptly reply to him. She had also considered taking the opportunity afforded by this trip to attempt regain contact with the operative she had hired several months ago but had been forced to cut contact with because of the trouble at home on Empress Teta.

She felt refreshed and energetic, ready to start acting towards her goals. She was lounging in her personal quarters in the salon pod of the Star Petal when Captain Tiyr knocked on her door and announced that the final flight plans had been approved and they would be departing shortly.

Valin would be woken by a small beeping noise, an alarm that was set by his droid for when they had dropped out of hyperspace. When he finally opened his eyes and realized that they were in the Aargau system, he realized that he had slept the entire time it took them to journey to the world. Aargau was much more acceptable for a meeting place though, he wasn't about to set foot on Coruscant, even if it were to meet with a beautiful woman. He sat up from his seat as he watched the droid pilot his vessel down to one of the waiting hangers. The vessel withdrew its solar sail, pulling it in so that it could land, the vessel now looking more like a sleek seed than an actual ship as it slowly descended through the atmosphere. Valin had been to the world before and new of a perfect place to meet with the Senator as he stood up when he felt the light thud after the vessel had landed.

The boarding ramp slowly came out, the guards already waiting as Valin allowed them to search him, already finding no weapons on him, of course his vessel would be a different story. As he finished going over the rules he spoke to the man that would, more than likely, be speaking with the Senator and going over the rules of Aargau. "If you would be so kind. Inform Senator volFyr when she arrives that I'll be waiting at warmherth cafe." He gave a polite smile as he paid the docking fees before he left, heading to the cafe as he hailed a speeder to take him there as he would wait for the young Senator.

Aargau, being located within the Core itself wasn't a long trip for the sleek, painted in the diplomatic red Star Petal to make on the most widely frequented hyperspace route available. Her travel plans had been published as a matter of public record considering that the comings and goings of an Imperial Senator were just that - public record when traveling on official business, which ostensibly this indeed was. The published reason was that she had gone to the banking haven to discuss financial matters with the central bank of the world, and indeed she had arranged just such a meeting for the next day to accomplish the cover.

Not that she knew that the meeting she had truly gone to Aargau for was of an illicit nature, but it did indeed seem to be leaning that way. The Prince, Captain Tiyr, Dandric Lewellyn along with 1st Mate Dent had all come along for the trip. The better to provide a cover for her official travel there, she obviously had nothing to hide if she brought along the entirety of her personal staff. Of course, none of them would be within earshot of the actual meeting if she was able to manage it, but that was for their own good. Right now she had nothing to hide - but if she soon did? She didn't want them to be able to reveal it, even under duress. You can't betray what you don't know, after all.

She and Dandric had reviewed the Three Statutes of the world as they had been in transit, and she felt confident as she had thought before, that unless this was some kind of plot against her, she would be safe enough without her staff being armed, and she wasn't without some skill in protecting herself with her gift, her power as dear departed Madame Pencron had called it. The shadow of a smile crossed her face as she thought of her now long dead mentor. She wondered if Zena would approve of what she had become, but a moment later dismissed the thought - like her parents, Zena had abandoned her.

The Star Petal made its landing on the surface of the world, at its most prominent spaceport as befitted an Imperial Senator. Since she had been traveling, she was dressed more casually then usual with her hair cascading down her shoulders as she flicked it to the side as Captain Tiyr announced her party to the planetary security that greeted her and explained the ever important Three Statutes. Once she and her party had been satisfactorily searched and found to be clear of weapons, she dismissed Dandric, Dent and Tiyr to a period of leave aboard the world. After all, there had to be some kind of benefit to working with a Senator. One of the local officials made a show of pulling the Senator aside and letting her know that a man who had arrived sometime before had left a message for her to meet him at the Warmherth Cafe.

That was a change in plans, she'd have to check her notes but he had mentioned a different locale in his original invitation but it made little difference, it was all on this neutral world, so what did it matter? With Prince Raphael in tow, she made her way to the thoroughfare and had the Prince hail a taxi. Once they arrived at the Warmherth, she had Raphael pay the taxi driver to wait outside, and then had him post outside as well.

"I'll scream if I need help." She'd said with a demure smile as the Prince had protested and then she stepped inside and asked the host at the front if there was a "Mr. Winter" party waiting for someone.

Valin was sitting quietly in a corner in the back, his back to the wall so that he could see anyone and everyone coming and going in the cafe. The host standing in the front greeted the woman that stepped in, a note having been left for her as the host spoke. "Ma'am, a Mr. Winter is waiting for you. Please follow me." Valin looked up as he noticed the young woman, of course the image of the Senator he had seen in the recent holoimages was an exact match of the woman whom now stood there. The host brought her over, one of the servers pulling the chair out for her as another began to pour a cup of tea as Valin took another drink from the cup before him, next to him rest a small folder, a few notes, a contract to be signed, and an offer for the Senator and her system as he looked up at the young woman.

"I hope you found this cafe easily enough." He gave a slight smile as he poured himself another glass of tea. It was after all the reason he had been here, even if a deal couldn't be made, traveling to Aargau just for the tea would make him call it a successful mission. Valin set his cup down after he had taken a sip, his hand coming up as he opened the folder and pulled out a sheet of paper as he set it down.

"I suppose we should get down to business, although I always believe in taking the time to settle first before talking business."

She had never seen the man before, didn't know him from Adam. That meant he must not be the CEO of a large intergalactic business, after all she'd at least recognize their faces if not know them by them, the holonet news was good for that. She smiled as the chair was pulled out for her and she slid smoothly into it, crossing her leg over her opposite thigh as she leaned back in the chair while another waiter poured her a cup of tea.

"It wasn't too much trouble, Mr. Winter is it?" She asked as she leaned forward for a moment as she extended her hand across the table,

"Avadrie volFyr, a pleasure to make your acquaintance." After her greeting was returned, she'd lean back where she was sitting her bright green eyes dancing across the table from the man before her, to the folder and the cups of tea. There was indeed some form of business intended to result from this meeting, by the looks of things.

"I imagine you've had the tea here before?" She had picked up the tea cup and making a show of blowing over it, allowing it to cool.

"I'm not much of tea person myself, but I give most anything a chance at least once." Another smile, Mr. Winter would quickly have the impression that before him sat a woman that smiled easily and appeared to be of a pleasant enough demeanor. She didn't ask about the business he had intended, or what company he worked for because he had invited her across the Core for a meeting, the onus was on him to make it worthwhile.

"I've traveled from the Outer Rim to Aargau on many occasions just for the tea alone." Valin gave a slight smile, of course for the moment he was Mr. Winter. After he took another sip from the cup before him and set it back down he looked back to the papers and the folder, everything set in order and organized as he spoke. "Of course we know each others names. I'm Mr. Winter, a former merchant in the Outer Rim. Recently I struck a lucrative deal on a shipment that came my way, nothing illegal if that is your concern, just a bacta supply ship I won in a friendly game of chance". Of course there hadn't been any bacta supply ship won, well not yet anyways, though the plans for his ships to pirate one were sitting quietly on a shelf in his mind. "I have done a great deal of research on the different systems and sectors and have found that the Empress Teta system would be a perfect place to set up a small manufacturing and shipment plant. A modest operation of course for the start, nothing too large all things considered."

That was when he pushed the folder across the table to her, inside contained the various papers that shown the proposal, research and ground testing, along with a few deeds of land, which he hadn't chosen yet, and was merely choosing which would be the best location, along with a few bills of sell for the mineral rights on the lands he was looking at. Everything he'd need to set up the small manufacturing plant and shipping aspect, including the possible transport he'd be purchasing to oversee the shipments.

Empress Teta did have a long history of carbonite being exported from it, and as she gave the paperwork before her a cursory glance she assumed that is what he had in mind, and why he would desire the mining rights to any lands on her worlds. It all seemed straight forward, and more importantly, legitimate enough but something about it all unsettled her. Perhaps it was simply her intuition again. She hadn't become Senator by ignoring her intuition. After several more moments of looking over the paperwork, she folded it shut and set it down on the table in front of her, next to what after first tasting had proven to be a somewhat tasty beverage.

"You understand I can't agree to any such proposals alone, it would have to be discussed with the Minister of Finance on world as well." Which would be true to form for the majority of planetary Senators.

"What I would like to discuss, if you're willing, is why I was invited to this meeting on a neutral world via a hand written note?" She held up the folder again for mild emphasis,

"This seems straightforward enough, why the need for secrecy?"

Ah, the need for secrecy, the valid point that came up as he took another sip of his tea before setting it down as he looked to the young Senator. "In the Outer rim we are very limited in the ways we can communicate with the inner worlds. I've often found that a hand written note is much more personal than a simple electronic message, although slower. Aargau was my idea of course, and while yes it is neutral, I find it much more pleasing than the clogged lanes of Imperial Center. As for that folder, I brought it to your attention because I've dealt with the, well lets just say biased, of those that live in the Inner worlds compared to the Outer Rim. I came here and showed you these documents in a hopes to secure a personal vouch from you to your Minister of Finance that everything is orderly and that I'm on the up and up compared to some of the more seedier elements known to come from the Outer Rim."

Valin gave a slight smile before he took another sip of the tea before him as took a moment to admire the beauty of the young woman that sat across from him at the table.

So he was concerned that Empress Teta being in the Deep Core, it might frown upon an Outer Rim company doing business there? And so that had predicated the personal touch delivered by via a handwritten note. Honestly, he would have fared better to have had contacted her through regular means; that would have said to her 'this is a nice orderly company on the up and up', a handwritten note, a meeting not on her world or Imperial Center - and for such a small operation, and given that her sector was located within the Deep Core, unless he meant to produce something and market it to the people of the Deep Core, it seemed as if he was just removing his new enterprise further from intergalactic commerce..No, there was something else to this, there had to be.

She thought of Prince Raphael. A friend of his maybe from his attempted plot on the Tetan throne? The idea danced around in her head for several moments as she drank languidly from her cup of tea, sitting across from the enigma that had presented itself as Mr. Winter. What to do, what to do? Her intuition itched, and she wanted to push a little harder, find out what really was going on, but at the same time, there was always the potential that this man before her was telling the truth, or enough of it that he'd be angered by such a line of questioning and call off the whole thing, and with the state of things in the Galaxy, and Empress Teta about to commission a fleet of ships for the security of the Empress Teta sector, well, it wouldn't do now would it, to turn away a potential business deal for her people - it could create jobs, stimulate the economy and generate more taxes along legitimate trade routes out of her sector - further justifying the need for the Empress Teta Security Fleet that she had so pushed the King to start creating.

Of course, her own reasons for wanting the fleet to be commissioned were of a different nature than the ones that might appear on the Senate floor, but that was neither here nor there, for now. She opened up the folder again, making a show of looking a few things over again. She'd simply have Dandric look it over on the way back to Imperial Center, that's what interns were for, after all. He enjoyed this sort of thing. She found most financial matters to be mindless drivel, they sometimes barely interested her, despite her position and need to be fluent in such things. Perhaps she would delay, maintain the man's interest in his plan while she undertook to uncover what she..felt..was just beneath the surface.

"Would you hire locally for your plant, Mr. Winter - and is there a way I can contact you regarding this? A mailbox, perhaps?" The last part a little joke on her part, as she delivered it with a smile and her head tipped just slightly to the side.

While he waited for Senator volFyr to look over the folder he had given over, he had produced a book from the seat next to him as he began to flip through the pages, looking at the hand written notes. It was a small leather bound book, a blood red cover on it as he flipped a page over and continued to look through the notes there before he closed it as he looked back up. "I had no plans to bring in workers from out of the system. The plant would of course be run by workers hired in the Empress Teta System. There will also be a secure channel for you to be able to contact me with. I say secure because I wouldn't want any of my rivals in the Outer Rim catching wind that I'm speaking with a Senator. After all, I must think of my future workers and their families before credits."

He looked back to the book, placing the leather strap on it back over the cover to keep it closed and secure as he set it on the table. "Allow me to give you a gift. A small book that I came across during the Clone Wars. From what I've read, I think it has a great deal on the Empress Teta system." Rall had read through it a few times, a book that was about the more "Dark Side" aspects that had been uncovered about the Empress Teta system. Of course having the Dark Jedi in the Separatist during the Clone Wars gave him access to a few curiosities, as well as having heard of a few other curiosities that Dooku may have hidden away for himself. A location that Rall was still looking for as he looked back to Senator volFyr.

"If you would excuse me ma'am I have a few other things to attend to today. If you require another meeting, I'll be at the hotel just up the street. Just ask for Mr. Winter, I'll make sure that the front desk knows that I'll be expecting you." He gave a slight smile as he stood up and pushed his chair in, looking to the waiter and motioning him over. "If there is anything you'd like ma'am just let the server know, they'll charge it to my room and I'll take care of sorting it out." Rall gave another smile before stepping out of the cafe and heading up the street just a few blocks to return to his hotel.

Her eyes widened with interest as Mr. Winter handed the leather bound red book across the table to her. So this would also be part of the personal touch he had been referring to at the start of their meeting. She took the book in both hands and ran her thumbs smoothly along the cover, her focus intent on the book for several moments as Mr. Winter was making the preparations to excuse himself from the meeting. He had said there would be channel via which he could be contacted, and he expected her to meet him again at his hotel, or thought she might? Just what was in this book? A great deal about Empress Teta... she thought as she placed her hands flat atop it and looked to him with a ready smile as the man stood up and waived the waiter over.

It was also gentlemanly and charming of him to pick up the tab and instruct the waiter to see to anything else she desired at the Cafe, but that wouldn't be necessary. Once Mr. Winter was gone, Avadrie rose from where she was sitting, slipped the folder and the book into her purse and walked outside to meet Prince Raphael where he had been waiting across the street.

"Captain Tiyr messaged, Senator. There has been a communication from Moff Brandt." Raphael said simply as the Senator took his arm for show as he escorted her to the taxi speeder he'd had it waiting the duration of the meeting. She smiled at the report,

"Good, I'll see to that in my quarters once we've departed Aargau."

"But what of your meeting with the Bank?" The Prince replied as the taxi speeder hummed along through the city towards the spaceport.

"I can always return here, reschedule. The bank is not going anywhere. I feel there are more pressing matters to attend to." She said, shifting in her seat and turning her gaze to the viewport on the side of the speeder.

"Something serious, Ava?" This brought a laugh from the young woman.

"No more serious than your latest predicament, your Highness." They returned to the Star Petal, what Captain Tiyr and Lt Dent already had the ship ready to fly.

"I'll be in my quarters. Do let me know when we're approaching Imperial Center." As she closed the door to her quarters and went to her holonet receiver, to check the communication from Moff Brandt.
