| An insistent pounding would be heard on the door to Senator Thanatos' suite on Coruscant, during her recent stay on the planet for Senate business. This was unusual—no doubt, most visitors would be cleared in advance and announced to the Senator. That anyone should pound on the door unexpectedly--and in the small hours of the morning, no less—could only mean it was something Imperial. "Senator, please open the door," a voice called from outside, "The fire marshal is here." A visual scan outside the door would show on the Senator's monitor a small group of red clad stormtroopers and one tired-looking bureaucrat who seemed hurriedly dressed. The epaulets on his shoulder identified him as the fire marshal; oddly, he wasn't the one pounding on the door and his posture indicated he had no desire to be here tonight. Or this morning, rather.

| Senator Thanatos was rather sound asleep, thankfully. That was, until the loud and rude pounding on the front door of her apartment. Riley was up immediately, and she could hear from her bedchamber his heavy footsteps hitting the floor as he made his way to the door to see who was outside. She sat up slightly, wincing as she felt a pull in her side, before she got out of bed completely and wrapped a soft silken robe over her nightgown.
The bulky Chandrilan guard opened the door, informing the 'fire marshall' that the Senator was asleep, not that he or the red-armored men would likely care. "It's alright, Riley, I'm up now." Though she looked exhausted from the travel and the rude interruption. It was three in the morning, after all.
"Gentlemen, I was unaware that fire inspections were done at this hour. Is there some sort of a problem?" She asked before she brushed her loose dark locks back from her face.

| "Senator," one of the stormtroopers said. It could have been any of them, really. "The safety of this building and the Senators in it is important business. We're sorry to disturb you but the fire marshal can inspect these premises at any hour for potential safety violations or fire hazards. We request full and immediate access to the suite." The fire marshal could only nod wordlessly; he knew that part of being a civil servant on Imperial Center meant being leaned on by superiors from time to time, whether he liked it or not. Nowadays, it seemed that included Senators, too. The stormtrooper glanced at Riley, then to Thanatos. "Is this your husband?" he inquired. Strangely, under the circumstances.

| The Senator would rub her temple lightly with her fingertips before she stepped back from the door. Riley did also. "Of course, Gentlemen, of course. But could you make it quick?" She tried to show no annoyance at the inconvenience of all of this. Sadly, Ilanah was pretty sure that this was being done for a reason, random intrusions often happened on Imperial Center.
She turned her gaze to him when he asked about Riley, and she looked up at the man. He was much taller than she, and his broad shoulders would have filled the entire doorway. Riley was the handsome Chandrilan, but Lana had never once thought of him in a manner other than him being the one that was there to keep her safe. Especially when Kal was not there, which he wasn't right now.
"Hardly. This is Riley, my bodyguard." She said, and the man crossed his arms over his chest. "Why do you ask? Is he in violation of a fire code?" Ilanah asked, tilting her head slightly. Something did not seem right here at all.

| "Simply establishing who is present for the report, ma'am," the stormtrooper explained. He raised a finger and then pointed it first in the direction of the common room and kitchen, then twice more in the direction of the private quarters. The other stormtroopers followed his instruction, moving quickly in pairs to each of the areas. Their crimson armor identified them as members of the elite Coruscant Guard; the Guard had increasingly acted in lieu of the Coruscant Security Force, and was often accused of acting politically. It was perhaps best known for its brutal subjugations of the planet's misleadingly-named 'Alien Protection Zones.' The lead trooper stepped inside, supervising the rest. The fire marshal ambled in behind him, his hands in his pockets. He didn't make eye contact with Ilanah or Riley and seemed to want this 'inspection' to be over with. He yawned.
The troopers, meanwhile, searched through everything. Kitchen doors and cabinets were opened and rummaged through, couch cushions were upended, and as the 'inspection' progressed to the bedrooms and guest rooms, it seemed the stormtroopers intended to look through the closets and dressers, too. It wasn't malicious, necessarily. Not as malicious as it could be, anyway. But it was sloppy and perhaps deliberately so.

| She noted the fire marshal's disinterest in the goings on in the apartment of the senator, and she took quick advantage of it and looped her arm into his. "Here, make yourself comfortable and I will make you a cup of tea. Poor man, being dragged out at this hour." Ilanah smiled to him and gently released hs arm before dropping him into a comfortable seat before she trust a warm mug into his paws that Riley had produced.
She would settle herself across from him a moment later and simply wait for the rustling through her apartment to be finished. It was more than likely that they would find nothing out of the ordinary. In the meantime, she showed no outward signs of annoyance.

| The fire marshal was grateful, but too tired to be polite. "Decaf, I hope," he said, settling into the chair and accepting the drink the Senator had graciously offered. "I hope to get some sleep tonight," he explained, glancing in a disapproving manner at the lead stormtrooper, who paused a moment to look in his direction—blankly, beneath his visor—before wordlessly turning back to survey the work of his other troops. Indeed, nothing out of the ordinary would be found, and it didn't seem the Imperials expected to, either. Once the crimson clad stormtroopers seemed content with the amount of disarray they'd caused in the suite, and confident their message had been sent and received, the lead trooper gestured to the others in succession and marshaled them in lounge once more. The fire marshal stood. "Thank you for your cooperation, Senator," the stormtrooper said. "And sorry for the inconvenience," the fire marshal added, before making his way through the stormtroopers and out the door. The troopers followed him a moment later without another word.
No harm was done, except perhaps to the perception that Senator Thanatos might have had of her home as a place that was private and inviolable. This was the damage that Rainier Brandt had intended, and nothing more. The Corellian hells, it seemed, had no fury like that of a Moff scorned.
