| The events on Alderaan hadn't proceeded quite as Jinta Jidan's feverish imagination had envisaged them. The insane former Jedi who, for reasons only he could understand, dreamed of the beautiful streets of Alderaan running red with the blood of its people would be stopped long before he could satisfy his lust for blood on the innocent men, women, and children of this tranquil planet. Coming here at all had been a mistake—security cameras had identified him almost immediately, and Inquisitor Cale and his troop of Purifier stormtroopers on loan from Inquisitor Deschain had no problem apprehending Jidan when the Jedi's attempt to use not 1, not 2, not 3, but 4 Force powers at one time resulted in a near-fatal brain hemorrhage. (It might as well have been fatal, however; Jidan would never again think intelligently, if he had in the first place.) Jidan, wide-eyed, drooling, and inert, was bundled onto Cale's ship and disappeared to Prakith, never to be seen or heard from again.
Drace Xeone, having fulfilled his purpose to Cale—to lead him to Jidan with the tiny homing beacon that had been placed in one of the more sensitive areas of Xeone's body (though it hadn't been necessary, with Jidan parading himself down the city streets)—would be captured and run through the heart with Cale's lightsaber, the Inquisitor taking some pleasure in finally doing away with the insolent wretch.
But what to do with Jade Xeone, who had been found in the company of Drace and was now in Imperial custody? Her presence on Alderaan had surprised Cale, if only because he found it hard to imagine Drace would have any friends, much less a girlfriend, much less a wife, and once he'd finished with Jinta and Drace, Cale would make a point of interrogating her personally.
(New thread to follow tomorrow).
