To the south of the area controlled by the Cronese Rioters, as the sun began to come up and the police were mostly sleepy or brewing up cups of stimulants as the assault came from the Ethnic Cronese. Union leaders had been spreading out throughout the groups of rioters overnight and the plans had been well orchestrated.

Men used impromptu slings to catapult “Molotov cocktail” type fire bombs from roofs down onto the police. This volley was followed by a round of “Which side are you on?” and then howling groups of rioters throwing stones at the police in one of the most vigorous attacks yet on the police.

The Police on the South side were heavily effected by the use of these weapons, they had hoped the protests were simmering down and so their ranks had been thinned out (especially since the South had been the quietest area thus far). Police Troopers and Planetary Defence Force units were redirect from their lines at the North of the Cronese Quarter to reinforce these lines. They took two men in every three from the North and had them move via the rickety old mag lev to the city center and then down to the south of the Cronese Quarter.

Planetary Defense Force units had been posted to the area as per the recent riots. Krenn was awoken from where he was sleeping at the command Centre near the starport that despite the proclamation they were being heavily assaulted with deadly weapons. He authorized the use of live fire rounds on those using deadly weapons against the Police. Snipers had built in nests on water towers and the hillside, paired with spotters with zoom cameras they opened fire upon the fire bombers. The policy was that the spotter would take a picture or video feed of the sniper, then the kill being individually authorized by their platoon Lieutenant. These orders were carried out with brutal efficiency.

The rioters on the roofs were brutally cut down by sniper fire, bloody and ragged corpses rolling off the corrugated iron into the streets with cracking noises almost as sickening as those of the Planetary Defense Force. Cries of anger rang out as the attacks intensified on the thickening ranks to the south of the Quarter. Stones, bottles and occasional blaster rounds fired with deadly accuracy by Clone Wars veterans and gun enthusiasts forcing the police to take cover behind their prefabricated concrete barricades.

The Planetary Defense Force had fallen into the trap Jack had set for them. They did not expect the rioters to be able to launch two simultaneous attacks on their forces, and so they would be taken by surprise when a hover-truck loaded with fuel mixed with gelatin and home made explosives rolled out of the west side of the Ghetto where the police lines were now thinner. The truck would crash home, exploding and blasting apart (shattering the barricade) and spraying the cops with gelatinous burning fuel.

A minute behind the truck several hundred rioters charged out. These were the most militant men they could summon, many having been drinking to steady their nerve, more than a quarter were armed with various blasters and slug weapons (some even carrying home made bows and arrows), the rest with sticks and whatever other hand weapons could be scrounged.

(OOC: By the way, the trap is as per the map on this thread and so isn't just made up.)

(I have never had my own map used against me before, 5 points to you, you cunning sod!)

The Caluulan Defense Force had seen no psychotic terrorist attack like the one they just saw in the whole riots. A dozen Police were killed in the explosion, over a score more being hit by the flaming jelly which stuck to them, causing horrific burns which could not easily be extinguished, such pain such misery was seen. The Police force around the North-West side began to fall back around the breach, on foot and in squad cars to their precints. The forces which had been dispatched to the South being pulled back to the town center via the mag-lev.

They were then formed up on foot to march to attempt to intercept the mob moving to the North West, marching up the three widest streets with bayonets fixed and with orders to slaughter any armed resistance they found.

Little did the Caluulans realise that they had been drawn into a trap. The forces to the Forces to the south of the Cronese Quarter were now separated from the Parliament by the Ethnic Cronese Union protesters. The protesters were more organized than they had been before, and around a hundred of them, mostly young men in their teens were organised to drop their weapons and chain themselves across the streets the three streets the Caluulan defense forces were advancing up, they would all sit down across the streets, peacefully preventing their reinforcing the shattered forces of the police force in the North East.

The hundreds of the main mob moved towards the Caluulan Assembly building, capturing and hanging some of the Police Department pigs from lamp posts as they advanced. As it was early in the morning the Assembly would not be sat yet, meaning they could not capture them. However, an advantage was that the Assembly was also poorly guarded because of this. The few dozen Police and Honour Guard were not a match for their massed ranks of their side.

The Honour Guard were armed with their ceremonial blaster rifles, and the Police Department men around were simply armed with blaster pistols and stun rifles. They managed to put up an heroic fight before being overwhelmed by the “soldiers” of the rebels. No doubt many were mobbed to death or hanged by the crowd, but the atrocity here was captured on Holocameras in the Parliament. The two anti-personnel turrets lanced out at the protestors advanced but simply did not have the firepower to kill them all.

Seeing the reports that the Assembly was being stormed, Krenn formed a militia-force from his administrative staff and as many men as he could round up from their barracks or were in reserve. These men in their speeders moved from close to the starport up the highway and towards the City center, aiming to cut of the North so that the rioters would be bottled in the streets of Assembly Plaza.

Key minutes were indeed lost as the protesters across the streets blocked the Militiamen, around half an hour as the Militia officers had to send men off to go and appropriate bolt cutters to cut the chains free. Conveniently though, once the men were cut off at the edges of the streets the chains served to allow them to drag the people out of the middle of the road by sheer force so the police could drag them off to detainment centers. Hearing the Assembly was being stormed the marching columns of soldiers began to break into a run.

As the soldiers advanced, the Ethnic Cronese freedom fighters surged through the halls of power. The soldiers of the PDF and Police who did not surrendered were hanged naturally, no “orders” were given so just as with the Caluula Highway massacre, they could not be blamed, could they? The turrets were blasted open with DC-15As as the men reached them and the men dragged out like a crab being de-shelled. The crew of the anti-personnel turrets were made to pay for the dozens of protestors they shot down, being taken inside the parliament for especially bloody deaths.

Once in control of the parliament, just as the slower party of older men was arriving from the Cronese Quarter (most of the leaders) the majority of the men were ordered to form up around the perimeter of in windows. They broke open the Honour Guard armoury, using their weapons to bolster their number. They sent men to man the turrets too, ready to repel the militia when they counter attacked.

The Union leaders moved into the Assembly chamber, their number taking up positions in all the thirty six seats of the Parliament, having changed into businesslike suits to give more legitimacy to their takeover. Jack Rook moved to the lectern which sat at the front of the circular chamber. He clicked on the microphone, his technicians assuring the Cameras were running and the Holo-broadcasting equipment in the Assembly were running.
“I proclaim this Parliament open, by the will of the people of Caluula.” He held up the following agenda. “In order to speed up the process, we will vote on these motions as a whole in a single Act.” Copies of the Agenda had been circulated to the Union leaders.

The Restoration of Legitimacy Laws

1. The decision to appoint Krenn the dictatorial powers of “Protector” are rescinded.
2. The Militia, Police and Planetary Defence Force are ordered to lay down their arms and return home.
3. Foreign militaries are banned from Caluulan space without the permission of this assembly.
4. The Cronese Mandate, as the Protector of our blood, is invited to restore order on Caluula by whatever means it requires, to repress the rebellion of Militiamen which even now is advancing on our position and implement justice.
5. This assembly asserts that it’s predecessor lost it’s right to govern through sanctioning the use of force on the Ethnic Cronese citizens. ”

The motion was then duly voted on and approved unanimously. Some of Rook's men armed themselves with blasters and the armour of the Honour guard, giving them a greater air yet of legitimacy.

(Gunna have to wrap this up, need to head out to work. I'll aim to get more posts up later tonight but may have to go to bed early.)

The Planetary Defence force did not attempt another counter-attack immediately. Instead realizing that they may be “pushing on an open door” elsewhere in the city, they launched operations from the South and North of the Cronese Quarter, squeezing the rioters back several blocks on all fronts, thanks to their most dedicated fighters now controlling the Assembly (which despite the implications of Rook was just a building in his mind).

The men in the Assembly were naturally surrounded by the Militiamen, keeping their distance a few blocks away they simply surrounded the walled complex which contained the Assembly building. They kept the rioters bottled in there with the same snipers used earlier, only firing on armed men, causing them to be forced to keep their head down.. There was little food in the Assembly, perhaps the Café would have enough for a day.. but after then?

The water mains were disconnected from the Assembly so that thirst would whield it’s own subtle knife against the rebels now in the building and it’s surrounding Area. They would also work on a way to jam the transmitters from the Assembly (which had it’s own power supply). So now they were left with another stand-off.

As “shit had gotten serious” the Police were also summoned from other towns on Caluula, being flown in by shuttle to the Caluula City Starport and bolstering the numbers in the cities. The call also went out for volunteers, with Caluulan people being armed with blaster rifles from the Militia armouries.

(( Continued from here. ))

Stark, his combat droids and the quartet of men assigned to him had been, luckily, away from the rioting when things began to get hairy. Naturally, Stark informed his escorts that their posts were more important than his safety and they rushed off; he did not see them again. That left Stark with control of the repulsor car that had been assigned to him to make it back to the Caluula City Starport, which was still under Caluulan control. Staying ahead of the rioters, even as they took the Assembly away in bloody battle, Stark was able to record it all via a small headband-mounted camera that he'd brought for the original intent of interviewing Ethnic Cronese and Caluulan police. Now, he'd captured images of Caluulan police fighting for their lives and being slaughtered as the Ethnic Cronese overran their positions; fortunately, Stark captured it from outside the combat zone. His next comm message that he hoped made it through the right channel was to Protector Krenn; Stark had received confirmation of an interesting blend of seven vessels that had exited hyperspace near Caluula (the vessels would, of course, broadcast Lorrdian registration and intent) and he would be able to inform Krenn that, if things went too badly for the Caluulan staff that had survived, he might well be able to evacuate some.

If nothing else, it appeared as if he would make the starport a good time before the on-foot rioters did.

Several weeks ago, it appeared that relations between Deralia and the Cronese Mandate were to improve sharply. Far from the adversarial relationship that was quickly forming between Titus Veritas and Zarcaine Kuriyoshi in his last days of office, nor the now forming grudge between King Deralius XX and Robeir XXII, however that was ruined by the auction off of Deralia's debt to Dantooine, and the Cronese terms of repayment... which had practically amounted to extortion in the eyes of the Deralians and held their world hostage with threats of a hostile, foreign takeover. Perhaps this was the beginning of Deralia's revenge. Perhaps it was a move to appear a changed government in the fallout from Dantooine. It could even have been something else; regardless, a CR25 Troop Carrier adorned in Deralian markings dropped out of hyperspace over Caluula.

"This is the Deralian Dropship Libertas, carrying Deralian military observers, inbound to Caluula City to assist in ensuring there is no undue outside influence at play on Caluula, requesting landing clearance." was messaged to the starport. The Deralians were looking to quickly deploy, thus the commandos were in the main hold, readying two LAAT/i Gunships to deploy immediately upon landing, while the others were readying in other means and planning their deployment points and how they would interact with the local forces.

Krenn sent out a message to both the Deralian observers and the ones from Lorrd. They were summoned to a "Council of War" at the Spaceport. Outside the main Planetary Defense Force building multiple crates of Proton Torpedoes were visible, with the sparks and flashes of welders being visible as technicians welded together a dozen proton torpedo casings, it was clear what the solution to this problem would be, it would be a decisive and explosive one - in simple terms, the riots in the Cronese Quarter were now under control, having been steadily pushed back overnight.

Outside there were also many squads of troopers encamped, having been pulled out of the other cities on the planet where there were few Ethnic Cronese. The campfires of these groups would sent wisps of smoke up into the atmosphere of the area around the Assembly. The building was still effectively besieged, suppressed by sniper fire and with even sewerage cut off.

It was thus that Larkin Krenn had the following message piped over speakers to the Ethnic Cronese unionists occupying the Assembly "Rebellious citizens of Caluula, your evil deeds are multiple and bloody. However, the people of Caluula are not uncaring to your plight. Lay down your arms and even now I can guarantee all of you your lives. If you do not surrender the Assembly building within 48 hours I will flatten it so that no stone stands on another within a hundred meters of the building, not one of you shall survive. Thus make your choice, live as Caluulans or die as rebels." he clicked off the message just as the Observers came in to his briefing room.

"Welcome my friends, I am Protector Larkin Krenn of Caluula, and you are?"

A message was relayed by the ETSF command cadre to the recognized government of Caluula that stated that the ETSF medical frigate Teta, and its two escorts - the Phoros and the Keres were enroute to the system to provide humanitarian aid and extend the medical resources of the Outer Rim world.

Meanwhile, in the Empress Teta system near the space station Empress, the Teta, Phoros and Keres had been put under the final preparations for the journey by their crews and were enroute to the hyperspace point out of the Teta sector.

The Rioters were not as stuffed as described above (OOC: please don't skip me guys!) . They still held on to the core of the Cronese Quarter and were well able to sustain control of it. With weapons and leadership there was still a potential of another breakout on any one front (as the Caluulans were thinly spread) but they now lacked their strongest leaders and so just skirmished back to pre-prepared barricades with burning speeders in front of them, meaning the Caluulans couldn't advance further,.

At the Assembly, water did run short, but via the use of cunning measures (such as draining the fish pond and fountains) they had managed to secure another day's water for each man, food was also a problem, with the Assembly Cafe largely having been emptied there were many hungry bellies, but hunger makes a man sharp and there was joy at the news Cronese aid was promised.

There was considerable counter sniper fire within the compound on the Caluulan sniper nests, crackling out with deadly effect and likely killing a few of the Caluulans.

Having stopped at the starport and received the message and after further ensuring that the Infinite Thought was undamaged, Stark deposited his pair of combat droids at the freighter before returning to Krenn as part of this war council the man had called any and all observers to. Now was an interesting point, though. The Deralian dropship would find itself under a sudden escort; a small Clone-type Z-95 dropped in to position some distance behind it, waggling its wings in expectation of landing, while on the port side, a Tri-mark VII would appear as visible to the pilots, followed by a YV-929 freighter on the starboard. This motley collection of vessels, it would seem, would be the Deralian escort.

Inside the starport, Stark moved to take Krenn's hand, having met the man at least once before. "Protector Krenn, it's certainly gotten ugly out there. Worse faster than I would have imagined. I heard your broadcast... one can only hope the Caluulan rebels are willing to surrender. It may be a terrible alternative, Protector, but if Caluula needs it, I can provide aerial recon and cover for your forces, so long as I am authorized by your authority."

(( Continued from Here ))

The team had picked a location which had other means of exiting the area, other than just the single opening to the alley way. When the group of rioters threw the bottle, the team was already out, not wanting a fight with the locals. They had pulled themselves up from the alley onto one of the roofs of the small building near them, standing on it as they looked down before aiming at the group. "We're not here to fight you, we're not Caluula" The team leader nodded to his men as they withdrew from the roof top and began to move over the others, getting out of the area before sliding down into another alley and ducking out of sight. The heard rumors from their passing that the Ethnic Cronese were about to rise up, so it was no surprise when they heard a rebellion had begun, their job now was to reach the assemble hall. In the confusion the team managed to get themselves out of the slums where the Ethnic Cronese had been living, following the trail of the rioters. A step behind them, a step ahead of the police and Caluula military that was arriving.

The Lieutenant and his men quickly made their way to the assembly hall, rushing towards the courtyard as the spoke up. "We're Mandate SRB" The symbols on their armor showed they were not Caluula as they jumped over the barrier and landed on the other side, turning back to look over it before the Lieutenant motioned to his troopers, seeing the wounded. "Help them with what we can." The three others nodded as the Sergeant and the two troopers moved to the wounded rioters that had risen up as the Lieutenant spoke up. "I need to speak with your leader"
