| I realize it's probably fashionable to skip me because I've not been posting in a timely manner lately, but it's dimly possible I might do so and it's a possibility you guys might entertain in the future out of courtesy to me. It's obviously not practical for me to try to catch up at this point, so I'm going to stay out of the way and write myself out. ))

| The Acherin forces already being on station began to intercept the Planet Defenders, the V-19s joining the Blastboat (as the ARC-170s approached, gettin missile lock), engaging the fingers attempting to hit the ties with volleys of lasers and misisles. The Corvette, already en route would add its Quadlaser and turbolasers on the pirate freighters. The TIEs would break off and move to engage the Planet defenders, using their superior speed and manouverability to avoid thhe lumbering freighters and their guns (by just avoiding engagement), leaving them to the heavy guns and V-19s.

| Sorry about that, Lancaster. ))
As previously mentioned, the closest reinforcement vessel, the Assassin-class, was still eighty kilometers distant from where the Mynocks had emerged from. While it was possible their weapons could indeed range the pirate craft, it was likely to be with turbolasers if anything, not quad laser cannon, and even so, their fire would not be rather accurate. With the Blastboat, ARC-170s and V-19s being at least, as mentioned, several hundred kilometers away, it would take them just as long, if not longer by a bit, to catch up with the corvette and then come to the rescue of the TIEs. Their missile locks would not be able to be achieved so quickly, in this matter.
The Planetary Defender Starfighters, having scattered, had still not turned back to face the TIE fighters; instead, they had each headed outbound and with their hyperdrives up, they were the first to jump away, evading the TIE pursuit completely, having been given enough time when the smaller fighters regrouped away from the incoming pirate vessels. When the TIEs regrouped though, they were vulnerable for that moment, and that was where the Mynocks struck. The squadron of R-41s opened fire with lasers and ion cannons, swinging wide to strafe across the TIE fighters and additionally unleash a concussion missile from each, each trying to target one TIE, though undoubtedly some TIEs were not targeted and one or two would end up with multiple locks. Their strafe run would end with the R-41s having their rear facing Acherin as they too, headed outbound.
The JumpMaster 5000 Caliph's Sun was actually quite agile, being a scout ship and not a freighter. As it peeled off, it's quad laser cannon would track and fire into the formation of TIEs, it's path taking it in an opposite curve away from where the Starchasers executed their attack, preparing to jump away as well. This, after all, was only a lightning raid designed to strike and fade away. The Telgorn dropship Hammer was another craft that could not be quite called lumbering. It's path followed the same curve as the Caliph's Sun, strafing the TIE formation with a dual laser cannon, a dual turbolaser cannon and a forward-firing ion cannon. This of course, meant that there were only two ships unaccounted for.
The Gloom had swung 'down' relative to the fight, and even now, was rolling and turning into the reverse, heading out-system with not a shot fired. The largest vessel, the Action IV flagship of the pirates, Krillian's Fist, was most heavily armed, but at present, was not firing. Thanks to the upgrades, it too, could not be precisely called lumbering with an upgraded sublight speed. It's path had taken it 'upwards' relative to the fight, looping around as well, though rather ungracefully, preparing to head out-system with all haste before the fighters could catch up. The corvette, however, was likely to be in weapons range before the fighters.Added (09 Apr 2012, 10:08 PM) --------------------------------------------- It's been over 4 days, so I'm going to finish this up to make it easier. ))
None of the pirates actually stopped to see if the TIE fighters had suffered any losses. With as many weapons as were discharged, it was highly likely that some were destroyed. Nonetheless, the pirates executed their evasive maneuver, likely dodging laser fire, missile fire and, with a smattering of weapons on rear shields or missiles confused in clouds of chaff, the Red Mynocks fled the system.

| As the pirate fleet fled the system, the portion of the Acherin fleet sent off to participate in the blockade of Chandaar would return in system.
