| Ana_Riley had the day to herself, just as she expected, so she did what any semi-normal girl would have done before a date. She bought a new dress. After rifling through her closet and suitcase, she realized that she really had brought nothing suitable to wear for the rather surprising dinner invitation that she had received. She took her time getting ready and dressed, then just waited. She was nervous, though she knew that really she had no reason to be. It was just dinner, after all.
-= [Alyn Stark] Stark was preparing for the dinner as well. His chef had been working aboard the Viridian Sky all afternoon to craft the perfect dinner for Ana and Alyn, and Stark was taking no chances with this. His personal preparations had included a luxurious hover-limo and a transport to his liner in orbit. He did want her to feel special, after all. Stark had not purchased a suit of any kind; he was comfortable in his normal loose black pants and shirt of Lorrdian make; rather informal, but he'd stated the dinner was informal, after all. Idly, he hoped that Ana had not feel the need to go overboard.
Ana_Riley hadn't gone too overboard, but work clothes were all she had, so she wanted to look nice, at least. She paced in front of the windows of her hotel room, waiting quietly. Carefully, she traced her fingers through her long, chestnut curls, arranging them neatly over her shoulders. Finally, when it was near seven, Ana grabbed her small handbag and went downstairs to the lobby.
-= [Alyn Stark] Depending on Ana's view from the lobby, she would be greeted by the sight of a very long, sleek repulsor-limo with an odd pair of beings standing beside its rear door. The leftmost was a tall, pale Arkanian with the lower half of his faced wrapped by a scarf that revealed naught but his shock of white hair and skin and mournful-seeming eyes. The second was a much shorter dark-skinned Noghri looking tastefully savage in a ripped spacer's vest that was open along the front and a pair of the same type of rugged pants. Both of the aliens looked in through the lobby windows expectantly at her; it would seem this was her ride.
Ana_Riley hesitated for a moment as she noticed the 'aliens' staring through the glass at her. she looked to each side of her to make sure there was no one else that they could possibly be looking for, before she stepped outside. "Pardon me...." She began, quietly. "Were you sent by Mr. Stark, by chance?" Ana asked as she shifted her clutch from one hand to the next. "Forgive my ignorance, of course."
-= [Alyn Stark] The tall Arkanian stepped forward and offered a short bow. "Miss Riley, Lord Stark sends his greetings. My name is Azaghor Azhirai and my companion is called Rukk'khrik." The stocky Noghri grunted in greeting and inclined his head. "We are to be your escort to the landing bay tonight," Azaghor went on, "Please, be seated and make yourself comfortable." The Arkanian opened the door to the limo for her and stood aside so that she might enter.
Ana_Riley paused before she climbed into the limo and smoothed her skirt as she sat down. "I am sorry...the landing pad?" She questioned, setting her purse next to her in the seat. Obviously, she was slightly confused, as she thought that it was just dinner. "I do appreciate the escort though. Thank you for the kindness." she said politely as she sat back and tried to relax.
-= [Alyn Stark] Azaghor and his Noghri companion climbed in with her, taking seats across the way to allow her to feel comfortable. "Lord Stark indeed promised dinner, as he asked us to remind you. However, he did tell me to let you know that patience is a key and he did promise... how did he say it? Dinner with a view?" Azaghor tapped on the glass partition and the limo accelerated smoothly into traffic, heading for the landing pads with a much smoother motion than Ana and Stark had traveled when she'd been the driver. The route was almost exactly the same as well, so it was possible it would feel familiar to her. "Is there anything you'd like? A drink? A small appetizer?"
Ana_Riley 's attention had been out the window until she was spoken to. She the turned her head to look at the man and paused for a moment. "No, no thank you though. I am fine." she said. Dinner with a view, she mulled the words over idly. Certainly it was no where she knew on Imperial Center, especially since they were headed towards the landing bays.
-= [Alyn Stark] In due time, they reached the hangar bay, where a trio of ships sat in a reserved spot; one Stark had rented somewhat distant from the Senatorial hangar bays. Inside sat a rather nondescript YV-929 freighter that belonged to the Noghri. When they'd all disembarked, he would lower the access ramp, allowing them entry. Ana might take note of the spartan interior that, if she was familiar with them, marked a sign of a warship and not a pleasure craft. Within a few moments, they would be airborne and heading into space with the Noghri piloting and Azaghor keeping her company. "Our destination is a bare few minutes away. Lord Stark wanted to ensure the safest form of travel for you and as such, utilized this craft over one of his yachts."
Ana_Riley let them lead her onto the next, less familiar ship. She was growing more wary by the moment, but she was trusting that this was all on the up and up. Ana would sit and try to make herself comfortable as Azaghor spoke to her. "I'm sorry...yachts? As in plural? Meaning more than one?" So he was a philanthropist and owned plural yachts. She appeared a bit confused for a moment, though she said nothing more until he answered her.
-= [Alyn Stark] As they broke the atmosphere, Ana might well be able to see the sleek white C-3 liner they were on a direct course with. If indeed she had been around Vanden for some time, or even senatorial parties, she might well be familiar with the luxury liner. Azaghor's eyes crinkled for a second in the corners at what might have been a small, unseen smile. "Lord Stark does own one or two craft that classify as yachts, largely by public consideration. It becomes necessary to entertain senators and other dignitaries from time to time in his line of work, and it can hardly be done on a freighter." There would be a slight bump as they docked with the liner. "Please, exit the hatchway on your left and be welcome aboard the Viridian Sky"
Ana_Riley tried to stifle a small and surprised laugh. "Just....one or two....oh...." Ana forced a smile. What had she gotten into? She rose to her feet and moved as instructed. "Thank you, Azaghor." She murmured before she stepped from the smaller ship and into the much larger yacht. Suddenly, she felt very small and very lost. Not to mention shocked.
-= [Alyn Stark] As she entered the liner proper, Stark was waiting there for her, looking a little strange in contrast to the deep red plush carpet and the finery equal to hotels that only the richest of the Imperial Council could afford to stay in. "Ana! So pleased to see you made it! I do hope my friends did not startle you, but I wished to ensure that your trip here was safe and comfortable. Shall we take the lift to the dining area? The chef has indeed prepared a fine meal for us this evening, and the view of Imperial Center and its moons are actually quite lovely this evening." He offered Ana his arm in escort so that she might walk with him.Added (17 May 2012, 7:29 PM) --------------------------------------------- Ana_Riley hesitated for a moment and took his arm. 'Thank you for the invitation, Mr.....Alyn." she caught herself. He had asked her to call him by his given name after all. "So....yachts. You didn't tell me." She said, with a small smile. Those things hardly mattered to her, but it was an interesting fact about him. "It all sounds very nice...the dinner, the view, everything. Thank you."
-= [Alyn Stark] "Ah, well," he shrugged and gave her a playful grin that was anything but bashful. "A man shouldn't always flaunt what he has, but a few pretty baubles from time to time do spice up an otherwise quiet and rather slow life. If one must travel the stars, after all, is it not best to do so in comfort? And it's no trouble at all." He'd guide her through a few passages, to a turbolift that took them to the grand ballroom, to the second floor dining area where Stark had a personal table set aside for them, with a variety of foods upon it that could be utilized like a buffet almost; these were appetizers, for the main course he planned to have the chef make whatever she wished for. The view of Imperial Center and it's moon, Centax-1, were to die for. Stark pulled out her chair for her, waiting for her to sit. "Please, make yourself at home."
Ana_Riley took the time to observe everything as they walked through the massive ship. She hadn't been on anything quite like it. Ana pushed her fingers idly through her loose curls as she took a seat gracefully. Make herself at home? This was much more posh than the home on Naboo, though it was beautiful and serene. "I suppose one shouldn't really flaunt what they have but, Alyn, you do not seem like other wealthy people i have met. You are generous and kind. I've read your galactic Aide proposal. You don't see any other of the wealthy people doing such things."
-= [Alyn Stark] As she took her seat, Stark moved around to his side of the table, sitting lightly as the servers came out to offer them a selection of wines and appetizers that would be brought to them from the table. "Well, if one has wealth, one certainly can't take it with them, so to speak, and I'm not about to try to expend it prolonging my life. I can't speak for the others who have wealth; in truth, it tends to corrupt greatly. That is why I spend it on those less fortunate; I have no great need for it, and I have the few things I like and enjoy, for the most part; physical things, that is, so it falls to me to do what I can to change the galaxy for the better. I'm pleased that you read over the GalacticAid bill; you're probably one of the few who actually did that."
Ana_Riley nodded some and glanced to him before she chose one of the lighter wines. She had never really been much of a drinker, but this was a special occasion. "It was on Senator Vanden's desk and I saw it when I was tidying up in there one day." She didn't make a habit of it, of course, usually just straightened and put fresh flowers from the garden on one of the tables. "Didn't you have a lot of support for it? Some others had to read it." She said as she played with the stem of the glass that was placed in front of her.
-= [Alyn Stark] Stark himself rarely, if ever drank, and when he did, it was small amounts. He chose a white Corellian wine this eve that would compliment his roast nerf. "Oh, it had some support indeed. Fowlkes, Ryuun, Domon, Thanatos, even Tu'Rot if you'd believe it! And that man is angry indeed. There were others as well, of course. It warmed my heart more than you could believe to see such backing, and now the dream is a reality. Construction on several dozen facilities will begin early next year now that all has been organized. Would you care for an appetizer, Ana?"
Ana_Riley listened to the list of supporters that he named off and she smiled some. "I've only ever met Senator Thanatos. She seemed very nice. I believe her and her husband were vacationing on Naboo at the time." She commented idly. Ana glanced to the tray of appetizers and nodded. "What would you recommend, Alyn?" She said as she turned her gaze to him. "I trust your opinion." She said before she took a small sip of the wine she had chosen, and found the light flavor very pleasing.
-= [Alyn Stark] "She is indeed a decent sort. I've met with her, Senator Cerra and Senator Ordan on at least one occasion each. I fear most of the other senators are not among my close group of friends." Stark stopped to laugh, then shook his head ruefully. "Who would have ever thought the bastard son of a criminal would grow up to be a benevolent man, eh? As for the appetizers, I'd recommend the Alderaan food, or perhaps that Lorrdian appetizer. Even though I dislike them, I've even included Argazdan foods for your pleasure."
Ana_Riley "A criminal?" She asked curiously. Her gaze trailed over the appetizers and she smiled some. "I have learned that most children do not grow up like their parents. I am nothing like mine, to be honest." She said. And were she to be perfectly honest, she would tell him that she really did not know her parents, her aunt did most of her raising. 'What is Argazdan?"
-= [Alyn Stark] Born Alyn Malos, Stark did not truly know his father; never had. If anything, he had taken the Stark last name to mock Iaco Stark, who'd so cruelly discarded Alyn's mother. Nonetheless, he did not indulge her brief question into his past with an answer; at least not yet. "Argazda is a planet in the Kanz Sector. The populace, Argazdans, are near-humans who enslaved the Lorrdian people for several milennia until we were freed. Despite my dislike of their culture, I am always willing to try new things, even the food of former slavers."
Ana_Riley paused for a moment as she looked over them. "Let's try that, then. You will share it with me, won't you?" She knew there was no way she could have eaten all of that by herself. Ana watched as the server sat it down between them on the table. "It is good that you are willing to try things, despite the history that they might have. I am rather impressed by your un-biased opinions, honestly."
-= [Alyn Stark] With a brief nod, Stark directed the server to bring over the dish, which bore a distinct resemblance to the human food of mozzarella sticks, yet the filling within, while cheese like, was much creamier, and the dip was a deep green that was quite sweet. It was a strange mixture that appealed to the Argazdan taste, but Stark had come to appreciate it. "History is exactly that, my dear Ana. Live for tomorrow, not yesterday, as I have always said." He raised his glass in toast to her. "A man can only be what he is; I am far from biased about a great many things, as you may learn in time."
Ana_Riley picked up her glass and clinked it lightly against his before she took a small sip. "In time, huh? So you think we will know each other for a while then?" She asked with a smile on her lips and a hint of laughter in her voice. She set her glass gently onto the tabletop again before she dared to try the appetizer. Strangely, she found that she really liked it. "this is very good, Alyn. I imagine you eat amazing things like this all of the time though."
-= [Alyn Stark] Stark gave her a wink at her initial comment. "One can never see all the future, Ana, but if luck and fortunate have any say, then I am certain we will spend more time together. If it were up to me, I would certainly say so. I do enjoy your company." Stark ate his appetizer slowly, enjoying the taste, the texture and the very feel. For him, there was almost a primal triumph that he ate the food of his peoples' enemy. It was a snub in their faces in the depths of his mind as well. "No, not so much. I tend to eat simple foods, for were I to eat foods like this every day, I would be sure to grow fat and unable to move!" Stark laughed and leaned back for a moment. "I am glad you enjoy it though."
Ana_Riley put her fork down carefully on the edge of the small appetizer plate. She stayed quiet for several moments as she dabbed at her lips with the linen napkin before she placed it back in her lap. "you did not do all of this to impress me, did you Alyn?" She asked quietly, taking another sip of wine. It did not take much to impress her, and he probably had no idea that she was already impressed, not to mention a bit smitten, when he helped her load those boxes into the speeder. She had never had help with anything like that before.
-= [Alyn Stark] Stark looked at her quizzically for a moment, then shook his head. "Well, perhaps the yachts were a bit inclined to impress; a man must do what he can, but everything else? No, dear Ana. It is simply how I am as a person. Being born in wealth does not need to corrupt those who have it, especially when at a young age, I was not the heir apparent and my legitimate brother was the heir to Malos. Ancient history, though, as one might say. But no, I did this simply so that you might enjoy yourself this evening. The pleasure of your company is worth far more to me than this ship, so it is only right that I try to show you a splendid eve."
Ana_Riley stayed silent for a moment. "Alyn...you impressed me within the first five minutes of meeting you." She admitted. A flush came to her cheeks briefly before she found herself looking out of the window to hide it. she found that she was rarely impressed by material things, but this was very nice, and she would admit it if asked. "It's been a wonderful evening so far. So tell me....what is for dinner?"
-= [Alyn Stark] He did not press the issue, simply gave her a small smile and would meet her eyes when she turned back to him. "It has indeed been a truly wonderful evening, and I daresay, you've made an impression upon me as well. But for dinner, yes. There are a number of dishes available. I myself am going with nerf cooked rare, with a side of Dantooinian vegetables and topped by a Lorrdian fire-sauce. What would you care for, Ana? If you can give me something, anything you normally like, I can have the chef cook it up in no time."
Ana_Riley thought about it for a moment. "No...what you are having sounds fine to me. I would hate him to have to make something special for me. besides, I am not sure what I would want." She smiled some and cleared her throat before she reached for her water. "I would like to see more of this ship after while, if that would not be too much of an imposition. I've never been out on anything like this before. Senator Vanden and I usually just travel in a smaller shuttle. Still nice, however."
-= [Alyn Stark] With a brief whispered word into the ear of one of the servers, Stark realized again, knowing their dinners would be on the way quite soon. "It's no trouble at all, but as you wished, my dear, it is my pleasure to grant. As for the rest of this liner? I would be pleased to show it to you. It truly is state of the art. I daresay you'd be bored seeing all the rooms, of course, so the master suite will be what you will have to judge the ship by, in the regard. I know not if you are interested in the defensive workings and such, so we shall simply stick to the aesthetic items, if that pleases you?"
Ana_Riley sipped at her water to clear her head some. "How often do you need to defend this ship?" she asked curiously before she sat the glass down and watched the servers move about the large room. It seemed so vast for just two people. He must have hosted fabulous parties here, she imagined. "I would love to see anything you are willing to show me on your ship. It is fascinating to me. As I said, I've never been on anything like it."
-= [Alyn Stark] "The wise man prepares for any eventuality. Just because I have never had to defend this ship and, ideally, I will not, does not mean it is not better to be prepared. It was not all that long ago that some terrorists seized a passenger liner and held it for ransom. I assure you, they would not have had such luck on this craft." Stark's smile had a slight edge this time. "Well then, I shall certainly show you everything I can!" And at that moment, their food arrived.
Ana_Riley paused. "I did not hear about that, my apologies. I rarely watch the news." It was true, she kept busy. But the news made her rather nervous, so she stuck with what she knew. Ana looked down at the plate in front of her and carefully cut the meat with her knife before she tried a bite. it was very good, but what she didn't expect a moment later was the burning sensation from the sauce. "It's very.....good." She said as she took another drink of water to try and dampen the fire on her tongue.
-= [Alyn Stark] While Stark did not comment on her slight slip of the tongue, he covered a smile with his hand. "I do apologize. The sauce takes a bit of getting used to. Please, drink some of the Alderranian milk. It's here for just that reason. Lorrdian foods can be a bit spicy at times." He did the same as her, quenching the pleasant (to him) burn before considering her once more. "While you eat, you are more than welcome to consider where you'd like to begin the tour. There are the indoor fountains, a number of pools and, well, the list goes on. I did take the liberty, if you'll not fault me, for preparing you a room if indeed you grew tired. Fear not; it's quite safe."
Ana_Riley did take some of the milk, which was like heaven. She was unused to spicy food at all. "hum. What would you like to show off first?" She asked before taking another bite. "the concept of indoor pools and fountains on a ship is quite intriguing." Ana thought about it silently for a moment before she responded to him regarding the room. "That is quite kind of you, Alyn. I may take you up on that offer." she had no other clothes with her, of course, so the dress she was wearing would have to suffice.
-= [Alyn Stark] "I may well go with the fountains," Stark jested with her. "After all, they are such a rarity on board vessels. The pools though, are quite relaxing; there is one room that has a miniaturized garden within." If necessary, he would send someone to the surface to acquire her more clothing, but if she did take up his offer, she was likely to sleep quite well in the suite he had in mind for her; it was second only to his own, and as such, would offer a host of its own entertainment when and if she chose to retire. Added (17 May 2012, 7:42 PM) --------------------------------------------- Ana_Riley finished her meal quietly. It was quite good, and the spice was easy to become accustomed to. "I think I should like that very much, Alyn. Sounds very nice." She said as she sat her napkin down and finished the glass of wine that she had. Her thoughts wandered for a moment, still curious as to why he was so kind. He was different from anyone else she had ever met. after a few minutes, she looked back to him. "How was yours?" She motioned to his dinner.
-= [Alyn Stark] He finished roughly the same time as her, but he did not finish his glass of wine. He did signal for the server to refill her glass, if she so wished it. "Mine was quite excellent. I have had the utmost confidence in the abilities of my chef for a good time now and he has yet to let me down. The man is cooking genius, I tell you. You must try his pastries sometime."
Ana_Riley nodded some. "I am sure that I will have that chance." She said before she slid her chair back and stood, then smoothed her hands lightly over her dress to remove any wrinkles from it. "That was delightful though." Ana said as she moved to one of the large windows and looked out. "And so is that." She admired the view quietly before she turned back to him. "So are you ready to go for a walk?" Ana would offer her hand to Alyn.
