| As the Sluissi crews deputised in the Vjun-Sluis Van agreement were working on the Vjunite Navy Corvette in its subterranean hangar close to Bitter End, a deputation of Vjunite Men At Arms would burst in unexpectedly, escorted by a number of FIII Footman Droids. The Organic Soldiers conspicuously were armed with heavy blaster rifles.
The Men at Arms were lead by a Knight, dressed in an elegantly tailored armour weave getup drew his sword and advanced upon the nearest Sluissi. "You, creature, and all your ilk here are under arrest for arson and sabotage in the docks of the Vjunite Navy."
The Navy crew around all looked rather deferential, all the men around the corvettes landing props removing their hats to the Knight, some offering a slight bow or a tug of the forelock in lieu. The men aboard the Corvette stood by tensely, wondering if this charge was to be applied to them too.

| The Sluissi foreman-in-charge, a Rassk Vissk, was taken rather by surprise. The twenty-five Sluissi detail that had been assigned to oversee the refit of the Vjunite corvette stood about in confusion as well, but none made a move to resist. Looking at the Vjunite Knight, Vissk cocked his head to the side, trying to tell if this was a human joke or not. Finally, he settled for a query.
"There has been no arson or sabotage done by myself or any here, sir. Would you be willing to clarify what has happened? I may need to place a HoloNet call to my superiors on Sluis Van. There seems to be some sort of misunderstanding."

| "Your request is refused." the Knight said, gesturing forward an Armsman with a pair of cuffs for the Sluissi foreman, men moving to detain the rest. They flicked on a comms jammer just in case, blocking hyper comms from the hangar. "The bomb you left aboard was found this morning. You are to be immediately brought before the Justice of the Peace for Bitter End. He will give you a fair hearing, then you'll be taken out and executed no doubt, filth."

| While some of the Sluissi looked afraid as they were detained, Vissk stood tall. "There was no bomb placed on any Vjunite vessels. If this is to be what you humans call a 'kangaroo court' then so be it. Justice will be had in the end. Let us go and speak to your Justice of the Peace, as you call him sir. If he does give a fair hearing as you say, this matter will be resolved quickly."

| The Sluissi would be deprived of all electronics and tools, and taken down to the court room of Bitter End, a squat cube of a building with eroding statues adorning its fascade. Once inside they would be booked in and be given a copy of their rights bullet pointed in basic and similarly numbered in Old Vjunite, they'd be required to sign both thick documents, a clerk explaining their meaning. After this they'd be offered refreshment before being lead into the court room in front of an elderly and well dressed man, sat behind a lectern like a preacher in a pulpit as the defendants were lead in to the candle lit room, lightning crackling in the afternoon gloom.
The dock, such as it was, was a thick barred metal cage in which the shackled Sluissi were left to stand. "Do you wish to represent yourselves or shall the court appoint an attorney?" asked the elderly judge. Several prominent Vjunite lawyers sat in the prosecution stand.

| The documents would be carefully read and examined to ensure no lies were instilled within them and then the papers would be signed, although nothing would be signed if it attempted to prove guilt. No refreshment was accepted at this time, though. As they came before the elderly judge, Vissk chose to speak for the group of engineers.
"Your Honor, by right of diplomacy between our worlds, I request contact with Sluis Van to request an arbiter of the people from my world. Barring this, we will confer among ourselves and enter as self-represented."

| "No foreign "arbiters" are members of the Bar on Vjun, even if they were present it would be illegal for them to represent you. You are charged with the crime of sabotage of a vessel of the Vjunite Navy in a time of peace, this offence carries A potential sentence of death, although reprieve may be given in the event of contrition: how do you plead?"
After they plead, the prosecution would step forward. It is alleged that last night these men were seen by crewmen of the Vjunite Corvette "Fyrdracca" tampering with one of the ships torpedoes and placing it within the main reactor with a remote control detonation system. We summon first Botswain Sam Assef."
The man took the stand. "I seen them fiddling around in engineering last night and I reckoned it was a rum do. They was fiddlin' bout with things, I saws em put the bomb into the reactor and screw it back in." the man was marginally unconvincing, seeming to be regurgitating a story he had been told to recount.
"Is this the bomb?" asked the prosecution Barister, gesturing to the device on the table next to him, a proton torpedo with the casing removed and detonation charge with a small antennae affixed.
"Yessur" spoke the Boatswain.
"No further questions your honour." spoke the Prosecutor. The judge gestured to the Sluissi "Does the Defense wish to cross examine the first witness?"

| "We plead not guilty, your honor," Vissk stated.
During the man's testimony, Vissk watched quietly, able to recognize the man's attitude towards the entire issue. When the time came for the cross examination, Vissk took his position close to the bars of the cage he was currently constrained in. "Yes, your honor, I will cross examine the witness.
"Mr. Assef, my first question is a rather important one. You state that you witnessed Sluissi of an unknown number or identification tampering with one of the torpedoes on board the Vjunite corvette, which, I assume refers to either the Intrepid-class or the CR70 refit, whereupon these Sluissi placed the modified torpedo into the reactor. Tell me, Mr. Assef, how is this possible when neither of these vessels sport torpedo armament?"

| The Boatswain gave a simple answer to the simple question "It's a system full of asteroids. We use them as det'nation charges if we see any large ones inbound, fly up to the asteroid on a parallel course and send a group across, drop down onto the asteroid and blow the torpedo at a distance, either to re-direct the asteroid (the explosion altering the course) or causing it to break up. They're not used as "armament"."

| "A fair answer, Mr. Assef, a fair answer. The second and more important question is this, sir. Do you have other Sluissi upon your world that you may not know of? Our prefabricated quarters that we set up upon the start of the refit project. are watched over both internally and externally by a closed-circuit monitoring system. This, of course, was to ensure privacy and has been active since we arrived. Furthermore, access to the dwelling is controlled via key-card, which every engineer keeps on his person. At headcount last night, all of my engineers were present and when I awoke they were also present. A check of the door security, coupled with the recordings taken from inside and outside the quarters should prove innocence or guilt."
To his statement, the engineers murmured their assent and Vissk spoke up again, addressing the judge. "It may be possible you have rogue Sluissi on your world, your honor."

| Assef shrugged "I reckons I saw the Sluissi who put it there, but I don't know if others could get in. It was during the evening work cycle when you and your crew were present."
"If I may, your honour. A point of information." spoke up the prosecution. The Judge waved his hand to allow the answer.
"The access control systems on the hangar preclude the possibility of a "Rogue Sluissi".

| "So in essence," Vissk said to the judge, "We have a case of a single Sluissi who placed a bomb, but we are having difficulty, apparently, with the identification of which Sluissi it might be. It is obviously, therefore, one of the Sluissi within this cage." Vissk turned back to Assef. "Mr. Assef, can you identify the Sluissi who were tampering with the warhead and that placed it?"

| Cocking his head to the side, Vissk looked long and hard at Assef, then shook his head. "This man is mistaken, your honor. I fear his identification skills are not suited to identifying Sluissi. Vjun Control records should very well show that I took a shuttle to the Scorpius-class cruiser that is in far orbit, still holding the squadron of Arsix-class fighters that has not been fully paid for yet. The Intrepid-class corvette, obviously has been, but that is neither here nor there. The point is that, during the evening work cycle, I was not present and there are multiple sources and holocam footage upon the cruiser that can, fortunately, confirm my location there. As such," Vissk turned and looked long and hard at the Sluissi behind him, "Either there is a traitor in our midst... or there is something else afoot here, your honor.
"If I may, your honor, I would like to call temporary Captain Hrssh Vassh down from orbit as a witness."

| "Permission is refused." spoke the Judge. "It is not the custom of the Vjunite Court to allow any but a member of the Bar to summon witnesses to the room. Your conjecture is noted. Have you finished cross examining the witness?"
