This is a Call to Arms

Sleeping came easier, though even at the best of times it was still elusive to her. Maybe it was just the fact that the young woman from Munto Codru that had found her way into Avy's bed that made it easier to sleep that night. There had been false lies spread about the Jedi taking young children and all other manner of things that happened in the temple, this wasnt like that though. It was innocent, a young child seeking safety and security away from nightmares and the foreign darkness that came when one left home for the first time. Avy had been the same way when she first arrived at the Jedi Temple, a frightened child that was wailing in the night, and even when she grew into a little girl she still found herself crying at night. Though it was one of the Jedi Knights that taught her so much that first calmed her crying, bringing order to a storm of fear that had raged for so long in her heart. Avy let out a soft sigh as the memories passed by once more, shifting a little and finding her arm had fallen asleep, though it would have been a miracle had it not since the young Munto Codru had her four arms wrapped around Avy's one, a small smile on her face as she slept soundly in the bed. A simple motion from Avy's hand slid the blanket up over the woman's shoulder, lightly slipping her arm from her grasp as she quietly slid out of the bed. It was different, odd having a ship after having spent countless nights on the old freighters in the outer rim. This was a new experience, a new memory and a new step forward. With a gentle sigh she pulled on a small robe, tying it around her waist as she slipped from the room. It was the only one that she had any time to work on, converting it from the five bunks it once had into a room that held only one bed, though even that was just two of the bunks pushed together at the center of the room and pressed up against the wall.

Her hand lightly touched the metal of the ship as she approached the cockpit, slipping down into the pilots chair as she looked out among the passing stars. Hyperspace always seemed to be calming to her, even now she was filled with relief as she just watched the long white lines of the stars slip by. She was lost to the moment that she barely heard the stirring of the woman that she had left in bed, only realizing it when she felt her through the force. Avy was still getting use to that though, once more being opened to the force as she spun around slowly. "I'm sorry did I wake you?" She looked up at the young woman, a smile on her face as the Munto Codru shook her head no for a moment, only having woken up when she no longer felt Avy next to her in the bed. A smile crossed her lips as she stood up and gently touched her shoulder. "Go back to sleep, I'm not going anywhere." Avy walked back to the room with her, laying her down in the bed and pulling the covers over her to keep her warm on the cold ship. Her hand touching the forearm, before she dimmed the lights and stepped out of the room.

It was strange to be traveling with someone, to find a kindred soul that Avy felt so close to, having nearly shared a similar experience. Thinking on such memories though quickly caused her to shake her head as it was not something she wanted to do. Avy sighed heavily as she walked back to the cockpit, sliding down into the pilot’s seat as she leaned back. She couldn’t just sit around anymore, she had to take action. Though it would be difficult to take on the Empire, a single Jedi and a young girl was barely what one could call an army, or even a squad for that fact. Jedi though didn’t describe Avy as it once had, she was still finding it difficult to feel the force, though it as getting to it. The hole that once sat empty and void of the force began to fill with a small trickle, one that came from the young woman that she was now traveling with. Though she had to question, what was it. Avy had heard about a Jedi that had experience the same ages ago during the time of the Old Republic, though she always shrugged those off as a simple story created by someone whom admired the Jedi. Was it even possible to have lost all connection to the force and have it return in a flash like it had that day on Munto Cordu? She didn’t know. She needed to figure it all out. It was time for her to call on an old friend, one she had made during the Clone Wars, and one whom had saved her at the end when she lost everything in one dreadful night.

How long was it since they last spoke, nine years? It had felt like a life time for Nyla, though she wasn’t exactly over joyed to meet with Avy again after all these years, all things considered. Nyla had other thoughts on her mind, other plans, though she wasn’t about to pass up a possible job which meant credits just because of a personal feeling towards Avy. She sat silently in the dim cantina on some back water outer rim planet, the perfect place for her. One of darkness and shadows, smoke and quiet, it was as if she were home once again. Though this atmosphere was actually more welcoming compared to the home she came from. A mother that was a whore, a father that beat her and sold her, she quickly learned though how to kill and did a damn good job at it. She could still remember the first sight, her father surprised with fear when he forced himself on her only to find himself clutching a knife in his throat and feeling another opening his corpulent stomach that was overstuffed with food that was held back from her and her mother. Her mother though wouldn’t fare too well afterwards, angry at her daughter for the death of her husband, she too found herself surprised and laying in a pool of blood as Nyla left their family home behind in a burning blaze.

Those memories though were not the ones she would need, no this situation called for something else, though she was still amazed that Avy was the only woman that had turned her down and since then she had always been attempting to get the Jedi to relax and open up in a bed, which had failed each time before it was even suggested. Nyla knew this time though that it was something else that brought Avy to her, not a simple “How do you do” as to say. No this was something different all together, and it was making Nyla feel a bit excited to find out what it was.

A sly smirk or a seductive one depending on your angle of view crossed her lips the moment she saw a message from Avy that informed her she had just set down on the planet. It was time to bring out the welcome wagon, which for Nyla meant a full bottle of Mandalorian wine and a room and bed reserved for the night in that often instance that the wine was too much.

It had been a long time since Avy had seen or spoken to Nyla, not since the night she barely survived with her life. It was Nyla and the Blood Raven squadron that managed to sneak Avy into the outer rim and hide her from the Empire and Palpatine. This though was years ago, on a night that was the worst night in Avy's life, when she was most vulnerable and open, yet Nyla proved to be understanding and caring, even with all the other times she had come onto Avy and tempted the Jedi with a night of passion that would have surely seen her kicked out of the order. Though those choices not taken were beginning to look good to her and she wondered if she would be in a different place now if she had taken up Nyla on her offer for one of those many nights gone by. Maybe she wouldnt be hunted as a fugitive, maybe she could have actually settled down with Nyla on some back water world and lived happily ever after. Those maybes though could pile up all they wanted, it didnt mean that they would happen or that Avy would get that kind of chance to make them happen. For now though she had other things on her mind, pulling and nagging at her. However the small thought of finally taking up Nyla on one of those offers did sit with her, after all, whom was going to stop her, with no Jedi order there was no Jedi code that could now prevent her from making attachments to the people around her. Those few that she cared for and still lived and breathed. Then again the young Munto Codru that she had saved might get a bit jealous. It was different now, all these feelings. Even now as she continued to open up to the force once more after living with out it for years, it was all so new again. Standing and walking that fine line between the Jedi and the Dark Side, the emotions and feelings that came with it and had brought others before her down with a single motion.

She had to shake that from her mind though, this wasnt a time to be philosophical. Avy let out a heavy sigh as she stepped into the dingy and dark cantina, had she not just spent the last nine years on old freighters that looked the same, she might have had some few choice thoughts on the small establishment. However it was perfect, a dark and dank cave of despair, a perfect hiding place as she stepped pass the other patrons, quickly finding Nyla in a corner booth as she slid into the seat opposite of her.

"I see you're still hiding out in dark caves. How long has it been Nyla, nine years since you saved me." Avy leaned forward a bit, her eyes making contact with Nyla's, remembering the features of the young womans face and the subtle curves that graced her form. Avy was being tempted for the first time in her life, no Jedi code to hold her back, even if she wanted to hold herself to those standards, she knew that the Jedi had to evolve. They had become complacent, that was what really lead to their down fall. They just sat around, they didnt take the threat seriously, and it was too late for those few left to take any real action beyond leading small bands against the Empire. No Avy knew that she had to change, she had changed, and she knew that this change was good.

Hearing the familiar voice Nyla couldnt help but let a smirk cross her lips, looking up just as she finished her drink before setting the glass down and looked at Avy. "It has been a very long time Avy, not since we rushed you out that night away from the Empire." Since then though for Nyla it had been tough, while she had helped her friend flee, she herself was eventually caught by slavers again, having spent the past nine years in the grasp of various masters, a few of which caused her to shiver just from the thoughts of the degrading and humiliating acts she was forced into, which she was sure was illegal on most Imperial Worlds. Sighing as she patted the seat next to her, offering it to her old friend. "I like these caves, they're secure, safe. Not unlike the past nine years I've spent in some opulent pigs home being forced to degrade myself for them." Another shiver ran down her spine before she took a heavy drink when a fresh glass was set down, the bar tender just staring as she downed the glass in a single glup before slamming it down. Motioning for another when she finished, Nyla looked to her old friend, admiring the young Twi'lek's body as she leaned over and took her own good long look of her cleavage.

"So what brings you here to my little corner of the galaxy." Nyla gave a sly smirk as she noticed Avy not being her prude usual self, though she was sure that a lot had happened in the past nine years that might have caused her to change. It was a little known fact that the young Twi'lek had lost her connection tot he Force, something that Nyla had found out where she first met her all those years ago. Maybe she was actually opening up now with the Jedi Order dismembered and torn apart by the Empire. Nyla leaned back slowly in her seat, crossing her legs one over the other as she stretched out and pushed her chest forward to show off her own figure, feeling as if she had to now compete with the Twi'lek next to her as she looked at her old friend. "What is it I can do for you Avy?" A seductive and sly smirk still gracing her lips.

"It seems that we've both had our own problems these past few years. Though last I remember, you were willing to degrade yourself just for me" A small smirk crossed Avy's lips, an attempt to brighten up the mood that Nyla had otherwise thrown a cloak of despair upon. He hand lightly brushing Nyla's shoulder as she looked to her long time friend and noticed that she was attempting to compete with her when she pushed her chest forward. "I'm glad to see you free though my old friend, and still competing for the attention" Avy was becoming more relaxed at the prospect of spending a night with Nyla, though she had other thoughts and plans that came first as she looked up to find the young Codru-ji woman had found her way off the ship and to Avy once more. She couldnt help but smile as she watched the young woman approach, only to sigh as two men stopped the girl again, each propositioning her with their own attempt at giving her a 'fun' time with them. Avy could see the fear already growing in the young woman, though before she could even stand up she heard a loud snap come from Nyla's fingers. In that moment she witnessed a Farghul and a Togruta step out of the shadows, their bodies clad in armorweave that showed off their own forms while also keeping them protected. Each carrying their own blasters as they leveled them to the two men's crotches as they stood on each side of the young Codru-ji woman.

Avy smirked lightly as she slipped from the booth and slowly approached, leaning forward to whisper into one of the two men's ear. "I think you'll both need to take your boasting of fun elsewhere." She smirked as she took her friends hand and escorted her away from the two men, not even flinching when Nyla's shock whip cracked out in the stale air, causing one man to fall to the floor and spasm from the shock of the whip. The other man grabbing his friend and quickly dragging him from the cantina as the Farghul and Togruta stepped back into the shadows. Avy sat down as she looked to her companion, making sure she was safe as it had been the second traumatic event the girl had gone through. Avy lightly brushed her hand against her cheek as the young woman lay her head in Avy's lap, looking up at her. "I'm sorry, I couldn't sleep." The young girl smiled at Avy before closing her eyes as she ran a hand through her hair. "It's okay my dear, rest now." She looked to Nyla, a smirk on her face once more. "I see you've already found a few new friends."

"Is that jealousy I hear in your voice Avy, I thought you Jedi were taught that emotions are bad" She smirked as she made fun of the order that her friend had once been so willing to protect, yet now was gone in ashes. Nyla touched her shoulder lightly as she looked to her old friend, leaning forward and resting her forehead against hers before she leaned back. "All that matters now is we still have our lives, an amount of freedom and good times to be had before we die." Nyla took a drink from the cup before her, finishing off the liquid as she still kept her chest pushed out, though knew pretty much the only ones left in the cantina were her own crew and Avy and the young woman she was protecting. It was strange though, from all she heard about the Codru-Ji, they were supposed to sleep standing up, even had harnesses for it, and yet here was this oddity, a young woman that was sleeping on her side with her head in Avy's lap. A small sigh left her lips as she ran a hand through her raven locks as she looked at Avy. "This is a strange one, an oddity like us. Sleeping like a human when her species is known to stand."

A small low chuckle escaped her lips as she looked at Avy. "So, we never did find out why you came to find me my friend. Was it to finally take up one of those propositions for a night of fun, or did you have other things in mind." Nyla questioned with a smirk and a raise eyebrow, her old friend having always intrigued her. More along the lines of what Avy might have been with her curves and legs for days had she not been a Jedi. Then again there was that thought that they might have never met, a prospect that just thinking about saddened Nyla. Though she was quickly brought back to happiness at the thought of walking into a room one night to find Avy tangled in her sheets. Nyla looked to her friend as she placed her hand on Avy's, her eyes on hers as she gave her hand a light squeeze. No matter what happened, she had always been there for her friend, or had tried to be. A sentiment that she knew the Jedi shared with her.

"The order is dead Nyla, anything they taught as good or bad died with them. All that's left is surviving which I see we've all done these past years. That's why I came to you Nyla. To survive, to survive until the end of all this and see a new order rise from the ashes like a Phoenix. The Jedi are scattered, some hidden, many dead, and others twisted to the side of the Empire." Avy ran her hand through the young woman's hair as she kept her head in her lap, letting the Munto Codru woman sleep as she looked back to her friend. "This is a call to arms Nyla. We cant stand by any longer while the Empire continues. We need to start gathering forces together, nothing less than a full rebellion will suffice." Avy sighed as she sat back in the seat, she truly was tired of running, tired of hiding, and now in this back water world, in this dim cantina she chose to make that change. She chose to change whom she had been, a staunch follower of the Jedi code, the one that saw her march into the Clone Wars only to come out of it as an empty shell devoid of the force. Though it was the Clone Wars itself that had tempered a new weapon, forged a new blade that had seen what it was like to feel the force ripped from the very fabric of ones being. To leave a gaping hole that was slowly filling back in drip by drip.

Avy could feel it more now, now that she was surrounded by her friend and allies. The force was coming to her once more, slowly yet surly, almost like she was feeding off of those around her. As she looked down at the precious woman in her lap before she looked back to Nyla she gave a small nod. She wasn't going to sit in the Outer Rim alone anymore, she had friends in the darkness now. She had new allies that would stand by her just as those before her had done the same. This made her stronger, strong enough to stop running and to turn and face her fears. Now was the time to begin to rise, now was the time to begin gathering allies. Now was the time to call upon others to do the same. This is a call to arms.

[End]
