At towns across Kinyov Province and beyond protests have begun candlelit vigils against the tyranny of Lord Stark who after a rather surreal (and heavily criticised) rally had launched a thuggish crackdown on the Kinyov Democratic Party. Almost every town big enough to have a COMPNOR Bureau sent members to protest in larger towns. The protests were well organised, calm and peaceful - but they were determined and would stay firm throughout the night - Alyn Stark had now crossed the line into outright tyranny by arresting a noted pacifist and democrat merely for speaking his mind.

On the Campus of Lorrd University a protest was also held at the arrest of their leading academic on charges widely decried by both the Lennon media and neutral sector and galactic media as "trumped up" and which we're being described by seasoned attorneys across the Rim as "trumped up" and an attack upon the rights of humans.

Petitions were organised across the Outer Rim and many Senators would receive them on their desks. The cry was " Free Harald Lennon - Free the man of peace."

The quote from Lennon, as a blaster of one of Starks supporters was aimed at him, was often repeated (the recordings having been released up to the point the firing started) "Now is not the time to be heroes.. Let's solve this through words not blows. It was the Argazdans who brought violence to Lorrd and our movement will have nothing to do with such violence, violence begets violence and to build a better Lorrd it must be through fellowship and peace. Are we not all men? Do men not know that violence was the path of the Separatist aliens?"

Into the night the crowds remained peaceful but determined not to move. For they had a cause which they believed in, and while Alyn Stark was a man of war who would use violence against his opponents, they by and large were not. They were mostly fairly upwardly mobile, educated and middle classes and by and large not revolutionaries - at least not yet.

The Lennon Media - it seemed, was being vindicated.

Protests and all took time to arrange and coordinate, and while some were sure to turn out, the numbers still might not be as large as expected. By this, though, the second day since Lennon's arrest, people would have realized as other media capitalized on the lack of Lennon's presence to run the facts and debates about Lennon's charges that were, in some ways, not all that unfeasible. For petitions to be handed out across the Outer Rim would take over a week or more to even begin, and it was doubtful that that many could be signed. As had been pointed out, Lorrd itself was not a grand, large world of billions upon billions; it was a smaller Outer Rim world. Drawing the eye of 'seasoned attorneys across the Rim' was not necessarily a truth, especially when charges of rebellion were called up. In these times when the Empire was cracking down on rebels, people tended to distance themselves.

Nonetheless, peaceful protests were allowed into the night, on this, the second day.

As a member of the Canted Circle (it's Lodge Historian in fact) he had rather more plentiful friends than had been assumed. As such, supporters and those who did owe him a favour did the best they were able to circulate outrage at his arrest. His wife, coordinating the efforts actually cancelled calls for attorneys across the Rim as she had been assured by the Canted Circle that he would be represented in Imperial Courts by a seasoned firm of Defense Lawyers from Imperial Center, one often graced by large volumes of work for the Empire - they agreed to take the case pro bono publico.

The reversal of fortunes for Mr. Lennon would be subtle at first, but swift. It began when the talking points that COMPNOR routinely sent from Imperial Center to the bureau chiefs of Lennon's media conglomerate called on Lorrd's government to show leniency for Lennon because he'd been "suffering from exhaustion" that had driven him in recent days to "rhetorical excess." Content critical of Lorrd's government was to be replaced with large blocks of generic pro-Imperial propaganda. Also, the crowds demonstrating in support of Lennon were to be portrayed as "subversive" and likened to "rebels."

It would come as no surprise when word filtered down to rank-and-file members of COMPNOR—generally not well-endowed with intellect to begin with, and Lennon's nuanced message having been rather over their heads—that they'd no longer have to march in support of ambiguous notions of freedom of speech and could do instead what they'd always done best; shoving and kicking peaceful protesters. The blame would be placed on the protesters themselves when they were beaten, windows smashed, etc. The violence was enough to make a point, but not so much that the local authorities would feel compelled to stop it.

With Lennon incarcerated, there was no need for the squad of ISB agents to protect him. They were re-assigned to sift through the records that Lennon's KDP had collected on its members, paying courtesy visits to the party's leaders and its far-rightist members. Also, with Lennon incarcerated, he'd miss the large pro-Imperial rally that COMPNOR had scheduled for later in the week; Stark and his supporters, and Moff Shirnoq, would be invited to attend, and it would include among its speakers as many of the KDP leaders that the ISB agents were able to persuade to speak in support of Lord Stark. The slogan for this occasion? "Actions speak louder than words." No one knew what it referred to exactly, but it polled well and was generally assumed to be anti-Lennon.

Never would Lennon himself be disparaged, however. Indeed, he'd have his choice of any number of prestigious, well-paying jobs on Imperial Center upon his release.
