Kulan moved closer to the house, the two others with him keeping their eyes on the purifiers before he spoke up. "Your requesting wasnt needed, nor is it ever required for the Shadow Guards. The Emperor is aware of this woman and it is the Emperor that sent us." Kulan looked around for a moment, watching the purifiers as he stood silently. "And it is the Emperor whom left it to my decision as to if the Shadow Guard would be bringing her to him." The purifiers to Kulan were nothing more than a small foot note, like if a gnat had been flying and buzzing about as he focused on the three that stood outside with them. The two other Shadow Guards stood silently, not moving from their position as they kept their eyes on the purifiers.

As the two stood silently like monoliths Kulan stepped forward, his eyes focusing to the Nexu before looking towards the woman. His heavy boot steps leaving deep prints in the dirt before he stood a few yards from Rath and Illiandra.

(( Illiandra's typist has given me permission to NPC her character within certain guidelines, so I'm just having her sort of sit and watch for now. ))

"Of course he can come too," Deschain said, not unkindly. "As for popularity, Illiandra, it's a matter of choosing the first-rate over... well, the bench-warmers." There was no love lost between the Inquisitorious and the Shadow Guard, one could well assume. "If the Emperor is aware of her... then he'll be quite pleased when I bring her to him for a meeting, perhaps after she makes a brief stop at Citadel Inquisitorious on Prakith. You're welcome to follow along, of course... I doubt they'll allow you in there, unfortunately. The higher works of the Inquisitorious are not for the... how shall we say, uninitiated."

Deschain's hand closed lightly upon the lightsaber she'd offered and he felt its weight in her hand. "She is in the custody of the Inquisitorious now, Shadow Guard."

Kulan had kept his focus on the three purifiers still left standing outside, his mind sharpened as he looked deep into theirs as he spoke. "tell me, do you know what fear is like." He was sure that some of them would be trained to keep their minds strong, though it would be difficult for them all to keep that way as he looked towards the house and those inside. It would start with a small doubt here, a small bit of fear before the effects of Force Horror would fully dawn on those around. Kulan remained silent and focused, spreading the effects of Force Horror out to affect those within the home and those without. It was simple enough to look deep into their darkest fears and pull them to the surface. Of course the two Shadow Guards with him would be unaffected, having their minds trained against it, just as he was sure that the Inquisitor was trained the same way. Kulan just smirked as he listened to the Inquisitor talk about being the first rate.

"If you are the first rate Inquisitor, then why are you not the ones protecting the Emperor?" Kulan watched as the purifiers, or those whose minds were not strong enough to resist the full effects of Force Horror begin to devolve into a catatonic state of panic, letting them feel the fear for a moment before Kulan pulled it back, not wishing to fully drain himself and leave himself vulnerable to the Inquisitor should he chose to make a move. The other two Shadow Guards remained in their standing position as they kept their focus on the purifiers as Kulan spoke up. "The Emperor sent the Shadow Guards to bring her in, I would hate to have to report back that the Inquisitors messed a situation up again just like you had on Imperial Center with Kenas Annig."

"Inquisitor Animus met with the price for his... inability to complete a task, Shadow Guard." Deschain was faintly amused still; his own mind repelled the Force Horror. Around him though, several of the Purifiers who'd begun emerging from the door of the house froze in place, some of them dropping their plasma rifles, while others steeled themselves. There was an entire platoon of thirty-eight present, not counting the three who'd been there, for it was standard for Deschain to travel with a platoon's strength, at least.

"As for your answer... the Emperor only wants those who are... much, much weaker in the Force than us to protect him. You are sufficient do deal with whatever minor issues may come close to him. We are the ones who bring in the true rewards and swell the ranks of the Inquisitorious. If you'd be so kind, now, guardling, refrain from using your abilities upon my men. I don't take kindly to it. I almost take it as an attack on myself... and I would certainly hate to report back to the Emperor that a trio of easily replaceable guards were lost while earning chastisement for not knowing when to step aside for their betters. You may have brought in one Jedi... but I believe my track record is far better than yours when it comes to such things as recovery. Now step aside. I shan't ask again so nicely."

"Inquisitor, had the Emperor wanted you to watch this woman you would have been given the command. Had the Emperor wanted you to recover her, he would not have sent his Master Shadow Guard." Kulan watched as several of the purifiers had either dropped their weapons or froze in place at the effects of Force Horror, Kulan still standing silently as he looked to the woman as the two other Shadow Guards stood silently as well, not a single of the three movie as he kept count on the purifiers, the Shadow Guards silently counting and communicating through their helmets with one another, the channels encrypted as they continued to watch. They had been sent on the Emperor's orders and they were not going to leave without the young woman, Inquisitor or not. It mattered not from what cut rate group Rath had come from, Kulan would not budge while he still had a mission to complete.

"I suggest you order your men away and you step away Inquisitor, I wont ask nicely again."

"Master Shadow Guard or not, I'm taking her in, not you." Deschain moved in front of the woman and gave her a slight push back, urging her towards the interior of the house. This had all the feel of a territorial dispute, and Deschain certainly wasn't going to be the one to back down. Not in this case, not ever. Not when he'd brought in his first Jedi and not when he'd gone so far as to Force choke a Senator from Volus, once so long ago. 'Begin as you meant to go on,' was an aspect he followed and this was already begun. The Purifiers had caught the mood as well, and while none of their weapons actually pointed at Kulan himself, his companions would find themselves staring down a number of rather nasty weapons. If there was to be an issue, the Purifiers would certainly see that it was kept fair and impartial as possible.

"It's High Inquisitor, Master Guardsman... and if you're through asking, you can either step aside... or not. It's your choice. I'm done talking."

"Then the time for words is over" Kulan and the two Shadow Guards pulled the heavy black robes from their bodies, throwing them as they stood silently in the black armor. The sunlight gleaming off the polished armor as the weapons near the dead began to slowly shake on the ground, those weapons in the hands of the purifiers that didnt have a full firm grasp began to shake as well before the weapons near the dead where pulled towards the Shadow Guards, the weapons not with a firm grasp would be yanked from the purifiers hands at the same time as the dead bodies were pulled from the ground where they lay. Moldings and shingles from the house were torn from their place and pulled to the three. Glass shattered from the window frames as small objects and large objects in the house alike were pulled from their place until it was all swirling around the Shadow Guards. At the same time all three unleashed Force Repulse, throwing the objects, weapons and bodies back out as a massive shockwave tore against the house, shaking it apart as the walls began to crack from the shockwave, the bodies and weapons thrown at the purifiers and into the house.

Kulan spun his lightsaber pike in his hand as the other two Shadow Guards brought up their weapons, all three pressing the button at the same time as the pikes activated. Their left hands coming up as all three unleashed a burst of Force Lighting to tear into the purifiers.

Force repulse was a useful technique, much better in tight quarters than an open area, for its area of pull-in was smaller than its area of expulsion. The bodies and loose weapons would indeed be thrown about and hurled everywhere in a circle, some, of course, being fast-moving debris that struck the armored Purifiers within the open doorway; a far greater number were covered by the very walls of the house and its structure and as such, were saved, but as many as ten were injured or killed. However, by the time that the trio unleashed their lightning, frying a further three that were not behind adequate cover, Deschain had had more than enough time to act.

The High Inquisitor held the advantage in the fact that he could sense the use of the Force from the trio, whereas his wearing of the Taozin amulet meant they could not sense when he was about to strike or simply waiting. Seeing as how the trio had employed horror, repulse and lightning in quick succession; Force powers took time to recover and, as Deschain stepped from behind an extremely large oak that had been his cover from the repulse's outwards blast, he could only observe that they would be at a disadvantage as it stood. He did not bandy words and he did not utilize flashy moves. Deschain simply clenched his left hand, utilizing his skill in Force crush as he aimed to briefly crush, with incredible power capable of even compacting a small military vehicle, Kulan's leftmost Shadow Guard companion. The attack was brutal and swift, and the odds were not in their favor. Still full of the Force, having not expended any of it up until now, he was quite ready to remove this small problem.

Force Crush though was notable for lifting the target into the air, the moment this happened, Kulan rolled forward as the Shadow Guard to his right brought his arm around and quickly used Force Pull, pulling the Shadow Guard away from Rath's line of sight and the effects of Force Crush, for the moment saving the Shadow Guard whom needed to take a moment to catch his breath after having felt the wind being forced from his lungs. The trio though had fought together long enough that they would like a well oiled machine. The two Shadow Guards moved with Kulan as they approached the house, Kulan having rolled into close quarters with the purifiers as he grabbed the barrel of one of their weapons before pushing it up, slamming the butt into the shoulder before he pushed the barrel into the purifiers face. In these close quarters it was difficult to wield their lightsaber pike, though they were still skilled enough to use them as Kulan used the purifier's body for a shield as he spun towards two more purifiers and pushed the one he held into them before he brought his lightsaber pike up, thrusting the blade into all three men with a swift thrust before he pulled it out side ways.

The two other Shadow Guards remained at each others sides as they moved onto the purifiers, for the moment leaving Rath to his own devices behind the tree as they pushed their way into the house, effectively turning it into a close quarters brawl as the two Shadow Guards pushed two purifiers close to them into a wall.

To move into the house properly, the trio of Shadow Guards would have had to move directly past Deschain where he stood, no longer behind the tree but adjacent to it, and into the house. Three Purifiers they may have dropped, but by the time they made it into the doorway, the fatal funnel as it were, five Purifiers had already opened fire, aiming their plasma rifles directly at the solitary entrance to the house. From less than eight feet behind them, Deschain raised both his hands and from them emerged ten deadly tendrils of chain lightning, one per finger.

Deschain had always preferred combat to sneaking about and as such, eschewed or studied rarely the concealing techniques of the Force, preferring instead combative abilities, save for a few useful tidbits. With burning flame from their front and deadly electricity that, guided through the Force, would only strike and bounce back and forth among the trio of Shadow Guard. They were rather effectively pinned, in this case, for if they advanced, they burned. If they didn't turn and face their attacker from the rear, they simply fried.

While ten or twelve Purifiers made their way towards the front of the house to gain the outside, Deschain nodded towards the the female who'd been behind the tree, drawing the attention of the original three surviving Purifiers to her. "Take her to my vessel," he called above the noise. With a path cleared by the repulse blast, they'd have no problem taking her out the back yard, where Deschain currently stood guard.

Kulan had picked up a few tricks in his life time, along with the time spent in the Jedi Temple as he quickly spun around to cover the back. His hands came up as the Force began to ebb and flow between his hands, as he began to use Force Deflection, pushing the chain lightning away as it began to tear into the door frame. The two Shadow Guards behind Kulan quickly brought their hands up, using Force Push to push the flames back towards the purifiers, turning their weapons against them as the fire turned back into the house, catching the drapes and walls as the house began to burn from the inside, the smell of burnt flesh coming from it as the dead bodies caught fire as well. Kulan kept his hands up as he stepped forward, deflecting Rath Deschain's lightning away as the gap was closing between the Inquisitor and Shadow Guard, the other two dealing with the purifiers in the now burning house. They used another burst of force push against the purifiers, pushing them from their place and into the burning walls and into each other. One of the Shadow Guards dropped to a knee for a moment as he brought his arm up, the flames having melded the armor to his arm and left it a combination of metal and burnt flesh as he regained his composure.

Kulan stepped forward once more before he pushed his arms forward, using Force Push on the Inquisitor. Kulan brought his hand up as he pulled his pike to him, activating the weapon as he brought it up with an upwards swing to Rath to catch him off guard, the lightsaber now taking the brunt of the chain lightning and starting to deflect it back (just as Mace Windu had done with Palpatine.) Kulan rolled forward, bringing the back of the pike towards Rath's ankles before he stood, the house burning behind them.

In a fiery building, the Purifiers were quite in their element. Their armor was built to withstand more heat than their weapons; they were quite resistant to heat, as it were, and while the Shadow Guards were busy pushing, with their weakening pushes from such continued use of Force powers without any time to truly gather in more energy or rest, several of the Purifiers were able to rip off several volleys of stun blasts from their E-11 rifles while other vacated the burning house in neat order, those outside spreading out while six moved around the side of the house with one of the vehicles, towards the rear where the three were escorting the woman to relative safety.

Kulan would be unable to channel any of the lightning back at Deschain; Mace Windu had channeled it via his use of Vaapad, a style Kulan was not a practitioner of and the best he could hope for was to catch the lightning on his blade. When he pushed Deschain, the High Inquisitor could feel the lack of strength in the push; Kulan was exhausting Force faster than he was drawing in, but Deschain moved with it, allowing the push to aide his momentum backwards, which served to evade Kulan's sweep at Deschain's ankles.

A lightsaber, curved-hilt and blood red blade, appeared in Deschain's right hand and he swept forward almost in a line, bringing the saber overhanded in an elegant slash directly downwards at Kulan's head, aimed to cleave his skull in two.

The smoke in the house coupled with the fire made a direct volley at the Shadow Guards difficult, the smoke hiding them due to their black armor as they managed to take cover behind some semblance of what a wall had been, the one whose armor though that had already melted to his arm wasn't particularly lucky as one of the stun blasts hit his arm, stunning it and making it limp as he leaned against the wall. The two Shadow Guards knew that the enemy was heading out of the building as they moved towards the back, while the purifiers left via the front. They saw Kulan holding his own against the Inquisitor for the moment as they moved to help before he warned them off. The two turned their attention to the three purifiers with the woman running towards a waiting vehicle. Their movements were swift as they brought their heavy blaster pistols up, taking aim and firing at two of the purifiers, sending blaster bolts into their backs before they moved towards the group, heading pass the large tree as they continued to follow the young woman.

Kulan read the motion as Rath brought his weapon down in a downwards slash. He quickly brought his lightsaber pike up with a swing in his hand, spinning it as the lightsaber resistant shaft blocked the blade before Kulan pushed it back and moved upwards with a spin, bringing himself to face Deschain as he held his pike in a ready stance, his eyes focused on the Inquisitor as he looked towards the six purifiers coming around from the front in the vehicle.

Assuming that they'd simply shot and downed both Purifiers was a mistake. One was clipped in the shoulder, spinning him around and giving him a perfect chance to fire off his own volley from his E-11, stun blasts, at the approaching guardsmen. The second was shot in the hip; having a stun blast hit one's arm and having melted armor upon one's skin tended to throw off the aim and his shot had been low. This particular Purifier fell to one knee, but rolled rapidly to his back, spraying out his own stun blasts from his E-11 as well. The remaining Purifier helped the woman into the armored repulsor transport that was loaded with eight Purifiers, all six of whom were spraying accurate stun bolts at the advancing Shadow Guards before the vehicle sped off.

It was here that Kulan made what might well have been a fatal mistake. As he brought the pike up to block the slash with its phrik-coated, lightsaber resistant metal, Deschain did something awfully simple: he hit the deactivation stud for the briefest of moments and then again, reactivating it, but this time it activated just on the underside of the blocking weapon. With Kulan pushing upwards, he'd not been able to move back, and the distance between block and the Master Shadow Guards' head was likely no more than a foot. The odds, therefore with Deschain and Kulan being so very close together was likely to mean that the blade would slash down directly through Kulan's helmet to cleave his head in half. If instead, he somehow managed to step back, Deschain, moving with the momentum of the strike, would only need shuffle, glide or slide forwards; with at least a quarter of the blade capable of protruding over Kulan's back, the tip of Deschain's lightsaber would rip open a deadly furrow from Kulan's throat to his groin.

All in all, Kulan had put himself in the position because of a fatal mistake he'd not foreseen, and his chances of dodging while already extended upwards to block and set in that movement, combined with the laws of physics, were not likely at all to allow him some strange, unforeseen last minute maneuver. Even his own Shadow Guard, taken with the Purifiers, would not be in a position to stop this for they'd shot at their enemies while Kulan was fighting Deschain.
