Raids and Kidnapping: Cause for Alarm?

KANZ CITY- Recent events within the Kanz Sector have given some civilians and a number of transport agencies cause for some alarm. Lorrd, a world that sees little in the way of raiders and piracy, reported an attack by 'unidentified vessels' at the fringes of the Lorrd System upon a passing merchant vessel. Thankfully, quick responses by elements of the Lorrdian Defense Fleet stymied the attack. By itself, this act of raiding would not be too concerning, but shortly after, an incident at Amaltanna caused no small stir, especially among Lorrdian citizens.

Amaltanna, known for its shrine to the veterans of the Clone Wars, was a victim of a raid by what witnesses describe as 'unidentified vessels.' Reports indicate that five of these strange vessels made planetfall near the Impregnable Fortress monument and issued an evacuation warning of the site. During the chaos, witnesses also reported sightings of armed Trandoshans boarding landed civilian freighters. These freighters, still missing, contained four-hundred and sixty-one civilians, a majority of which were of Lorrdian descent.

While investigations are underway, there has been no sign of those taken at this time, nor have there been any attempts to ransom those taken, leading many to fear the worst. Lorrdian Defense Minister Alexander Moss held a press conference earlier today. "Despite this apparent attack largely targeting Lorrdian citizens," Moss said, "We want everyone to know that the Lorrd System is safe for transit and trade, just as it has always been. Lorrdian authorities are working closely in hand with Imperial investigators within the Kanz Sector to determine who the culprit(s) may be and we hope that those missing will be recovered and returned to their families."

Suspicious Attack on Argazda Raises Questions

ARGAZDA- Argazda, homeworld of the Argazdan people, came under a suspicious attack earlier in the week by a Gozanti cruiser painted in the colors of House Stark of Lorrd. Reportedly, the cruiser approached Argazda under the guise of carrying a diplomat sent by House Stark to end Lorrdian-Argazdan issues. The cruiser then attacked Argazdan population centers with warheads that contained lethal, if dead, biological agents.

While the cruiser escaped without incident, the following investigation by Moff Kanzad Shirnoq's intelligence office into the personal dealings of Alyn Stark, Lorrd of the Kinyov Province on Lorrd, yielded no results. "Lord Stark's companies were found to be innocent of any work within the biological weapons field," Moff Shirnoq went on record to say to a reporter from the Kanz Sector News. "It was also discovered that Lord Stark has never owned a Gozanti cruiser, leading myself and the investigative team to believe this attack to be by an outside party intent on laying the blame at the feet of a Lorrdian patriot. At this time, Lord Stark has been cleared of any charges."

While Argazdan Prime Minister J'cep S'nar declined to comment, several sources within the Argazdan cabinet expressed their belief that Lord Stark was indeed innocent of the attacks, one junior aide who refused to be named going so far as to say, "[Lord] Stark has never actually had an issue with Argazda either way. It seems rather clumsy, the way they attacked us."

Stark Defense Conglomerate to Sign Mutual Defense Pact and Exclusivity Agreement with Gree Enclave

LORRD CITY- Talks between envoys from Stark Defense Conglomerate and the odd and often reclusive Gree Enclave have finally come to a decent point, so spokesmen from SDC say. Head spokesman Lawrence Krupkin stated that, "The Gree Enclave, specifically the Gree Grandmasters, have expressed a wish in the overtures made to them for a dedicated security force designed to protect and safeguard their borders. Although the Gree are isolationist in policy, they find themselves to be a very reserved species that abhors conducting violence themselves, they find it very difficult to cover such bases even as border defense. To this end, the Gree Enclave and Stark Defense Conglomerate have entered into a preliminary agreement. Stark Defense Conglomerate Security Corps will provide border defense for the Gree Enclave, safeguarding their worlds. In exchange, the Gree Enclave promises exclusivity rights for defense and arms purchasing to Stark Defense Conglomerate.

"The Gree have also assured us that trade between the Kanz Sector and the Gree Enclave will be of preferential status, allowing for the betterment of all Imperial citizens within the Kanz Sector."

A Letter to the Editor published anonymously on their social media site.

Dear Sir,

Are you aware that the known Galaxy does not contain ninety million settled systems?

One feels that providing such bizarrely and clearly falsified circulation numbers you are in fact intentionally misleading the public?

Do tell.

Dear Anonymous,

'Ninety million systems' is a marketing term for the paper, implying that the news is read galaxy-wide and beyond. A catchphrase if you will.
