| "It's a pleasure to have been able to attend, Mrs. Stark," Ryuun commented as she took Ilanah's son and held him. "Chandrila, Senator Thanatos? I've still wanted to come visit. I know I've promised to do such, but it seems things keep coming up in the way. This whole matter of the Ethics Hearing and then the extra hours required by being a Sector Senator... it leaves very little time for one's own small pleasures. Fortunately, the work itself is its own reward."
Ryuun spotted the Naboo Representative and waved him over. "It would seem good old Vanden has finally popped up. I'm surprised I missed him earlier. A shame, you know. I haven't seen much of him lately."

| Ana saw Kal first and smiled some as she cradled his son carefully. As he approached she gave him a smile. "Mr. Thanatos, I am so happy you were able to make it. Your family is so beautiful....Caden is just...." She couldn't think of a word that was quite good enough. "Amazing." Carefully, she would hand the infant over to his father, as it seemed to her that (from what she had heard) he travelled a good deal and did not see the child or his wife very often.
She heard Senator Ryuun say something about Artemis, and she turned her head so she could search for him. And ah! There he was, handsome and stoic as ever. It hit her suddenly, then, a pang of guilt and a moment of that aching pain caused by missing someone so much. Ana looked between the senators and Mr. Thanatos briefly. "Will you excuse me, please?" She moved off to intercept Artemis, and nearly launched herself into his arms to hug him tightly, whether he wanted it or not.
"I was so afraid you wouldn't come." She told him, having not even known if he had sent his reply card back or not. Mrs. Miteya had forbidden her to look at them anymore after the note from Cambrist came through. "I am so glad you're here....it's all a bit much, isn't it? Beautiful, but....you know me. I would have been happy with a simple ceremony in the Lake Country." That should have been enough to let home know that she hadn't changed from the girl he knew.
"I have something to tell you, and a favor to ask Artemis."

| "I absolutely insist that you take some time off, Lomen. Besides, Chandrila is not a long jaunt from Imperial Center if you need to get back in a hurry." She reassured him before he spoke on Vanden. Her gaze found Kal and she smiled brightly.
"You made it!" She watched Ana hand their son to him and hurry off. "Kal...I'd like you to meet Lomen Ryuun of Druckenwell. He saved my life on Imperial Center and is quite dear to me. Senator, this is my husband, Kal Thanatos. He is in imperial intelligence." She smiled some and would leave that at that and continue on with the conversations at hand.
"I haven't seen Artemis is quite a while either. Not since my last trip to Naboo, I believe."

| Senator Tu'Rot would give a very insane laugh as he looked at Stark and pointed at his bodyguard. "Oh, please Alyn! I need to get his reaction on CAMERA!!!!" Draken would continue to laugh violently as tears were starting to form. Within his actions, his left hand would move towards his right wrist where he pushed a similar red button. As the button was hit, the 'Proton Bomb' would bounce up and down slightly a few times, then stop. Looking at it, Draken stopped all form of laughter and got mad. He screamed at the group as they went over and started to kick the 'bomb'. As it started to move again, Draken would go back to laughing, but not as insanely as before. The 'bomb' would bounce, and bounce, and bounce, and bounce until stopping again. Then suddenly multiple compartments opened up, spraying confetti all over the place with flags popping out of them saying, "Congratulations!!!" followed by fireworks exploding from the device. Smiling widely, he'd turn his gaze to Stark. "Enjoy my friend!!!" Patting him on the shoulder and walking back towards the party before stopping and reaching inside his trench coat, pulling out a pair of underwear with the Acherin symbol on it. He'd hand it to Stark's guard. "Here you go, my friend!!!" patting him on the shoulder while laughing all the way back to the party.

| Kal would softly take his son from the bride, cradling him in his arms as he would nod to her as she excused herself from the small group. He hadn't seen his son in a little while, and it was nice to hold him again. He couldn't believe just how much he was growing. Before he would know it, his son would be all grown up, running around and causing trouble like his father did. Kal would smile at Caden before looking up at Lana.
He would be introduced to the man that had saved his wife's life on Coruscant. He would nod to the Senator, "It's a pleasure to meet you, Senator Ryuun. I must thank you for what you did." He would nod to the man, allowing Lana and him to continue on with their conversation.

| Davon never quite understood the saying, 'wanting what you can't have'. It sounded so crude, so... petty, to want simply because it was unattainable. He had managed to convince himself that showing up at the reception was simply a means of generating some sort of closure; as though five years of hurt could be closed like a book. His initial reaction to the news that Ana Riley (now, of course, Ana Stark) had been one of abject surprise, followed by a sobering look in the metaphorical mirror. He was just a kid when they had been together; trapped in the throes of misplaced affection that is too-often confused for love. He had loved her, as much as a person like Davon could, but his leaving Naboo had meant severing all ties. There was still a part of him that thought back to her, though, and the news of her nuptials had quickly driven a sense of resolve into him. He had to set things right, even if it was simply telling her why.
Customs had been several-and-a-half bitches to get through, so he had unfortunately missed the ceremony. Vanden sucked in a breath, nervous. Half of a decade spent in the company of, well, the Aphelion's crew; and here he was quietly slipping in the door of the wedding of a corporate bigwig. He'd done his homework on this Stark, then fondly remembered quite a few shipments they had plundered of his; never let it be said that the Aphelion's taste in weaponry didn't extend into the decadent and overzealous.
His blazer was cherry-red, bright and certainly conspicuous. This was the unfortunate result of his resoundingly-empty bank account; he'd had to rent. The mere thought caused him to shudder involuntarily, and he loosened the top button of his dress shirt, eyes scanning the gathered sycophants. Dav recognized quite a few faces here tonight, chief among them his father, whose gaze he hastily avoided. That was another can of worms entirely, and there was no return on his shoes, best to avoid worms. With a heavy-hearted sigh, Vanden craftily snagged a glass of champagne from a passing waiter and searched, his eyes finally settling on Ana--standing, of course, right next to his father. Stars, she was still as gorgeous as he remembered, perhaps even more than he remembered. Oh boy, was this going to be a difficult maneuver, he slowly started skirting around the edge of the extravagant hall.

| Why wouldn't I come? Artemis had wondered to himself, then remembered that the noble disposition to this wedding hadn't been exactly favorable. Ana having been called a 'commoner,' and Stark a traitor to his noble blood. Naboo had shared Vanden's anger at this Core World elitism; neither the planet's nobility nor Artemis himself had participated in the supposed 'boycott' of this wedding. His presence here at the reception, and a well-wishing letter from Queen Kylantha, was proof enough of that. "I wouldn't miss it," he said, returning her hug warmly. Ana could disarm Artemis as a daughter could her father, and it seemed no distance of space or time could change that.
He took a step back and smiled—rather rare, for him—as he glanced at her. "You're beautiful, you know," he said, "The Lake Country is less so without you." He nodded to her in agreement about the resplendence of the reception, looking about the room as he did so. "You deserve it," he told her, "And I'm glad Mr. Ana Riley knows it too. But what can I do for you, child?"
Over her head (Artemis being fairly tall) he couldn't help but notice Davon, the boy's red blazer veritably commanding the attention of the room. "Ah, and there's Davon," he said, giving his son a beckoning wave as they made eye-contact across the floor. (He'd earlier noticed Senator Ryuun's wave and had returned it pleasantly, if vacantly. He'd maintained a respectful distance, hoping for a non-political evening. He'd already summoned his speeder in fact, but forgot this entirely as he spoke with Ana and now Davon too; he'd invited the boy to the reception and was pleased to see he'd made it).

| Stark gave an involuntary panicked noise and actually stumbled back a step as the bomb bounced. He was able to suppress the momentary panic as Tu'Rot's men began to kick the bomb and then it exploded with confetti and congratulatory signs. Rather dumbfounded, Stark was again speechless for a moment as Tu'Rot walked past him. Turning, he was aware of the pair of underwear handed to Mako. Looking back at the 'bomb' and Tu'Rot's back as the man started inside. "Governor, you have an odd sense of gifts, but thank you," he called as he started inside as well, Mako trailing him as always. That was one rather unusual gift, Stark mused as he shook his head. One hell of a way to present a gift to a man on his wedding day.

| "I suppose I will take some time off at some point. It's just a matter of being able to arrange all the pieces in a row." As Kal came up, Ryuun turned to be able to include him in the conversation. "Imperial Intelligence, eh? Well it's a pleasure to meet you as well, Mr. Thanatos. As for what happened... it was the least I could do to save a comrade within the Senate. Terrible day that was, terrible day. Nonetheless, most of us pulled through fair enough. But enough of that talk. I'm glad to see you were able to make it to the wedding. It's even harder for you chaps to get time off than it is for us."

| Ana held onto Artemis' forearms as she spoke to him, not tightly, but as a sign of affection.....and keeping him close. She used him for balance and pushed herself onto her toes so she could whisper their little secret to him. "Artemis....Alyn and I are having a child." She started before she dropped back down and smiled. "Please agree to be his godfather? I couldn't take no for an answer....you're the only person I could consider as family." Ana gave him a dazzling smile before he could respond, mainly to disarm him further and plead her case.
Briefly, she glanced over her shoulder and noticed Davon and she cracked a small smile before she looked back to Artemis for an answer or some kind of response. Davon she could speak with later, though she was glad he came. Mostly for Artemis' sake.

| "He travels quite often." Ilanah commented before she allowed the two men to speak. She glanced down at Caden, cradled in his fathers arms, and tucked his little blanket a bit tighter around him. Lana looped her arm around Kal's lightly and turned her attention back to Ryuun. "Just know that you're welcome any time, Lomen. Let me know you're coming and I will make all of the arrangements.

| A faint chill settled down his spine when his (rather pathetic) attempt at discretion was quickly snuffed out. He visibly cringed, meeting his father's wave with a nervous smile and a half-hearted wave of his own. It wasn't until he noticed that Ana had spotted him as well that Davon felt a strange knot in his stomach. He never had knots in his stomach; is this what socially-inept people felt like? It took a moment to determine the proper amount of liquid courage needed to approach the two touchiest subjects of his young life: dad and damsel. The man whose trust he'd squandered, betrayed; and the girl he'd loved and left behind?
...
Six. Six glasses of champagne. While Ana appeared to turn back to Artemis, touching him lightly on the arm and asking him what Davon could only assume was a request to have him forcibly thrown off the nearest balcony, Vanden the lesser quickly scooted over to the nearest table and began to down the golden liquid, waiting until that wonderfully warm feeling in his stomach spread outward through his limbs. There we go. With a clumsy half-step, he turned back to the pair and sidled over, arriving just as Ana finished speaking.

| Artemis momentarily furrowed his brow as he was struck with a fuller comprehension of what it was that his son was wearing. Never mind that Davon had been on some shady misadventure elsewhere in the Chommell Sector when he'd invited him to this reception—"I'm settling a debt" was all the explanation he'd extracted from the boy—but to show up here as late as he was in that ensemble was embarrassing to father as well as son. But fortunately, this wasn't a court on Naboo where the scrutiny of such a thing would be harsher, to say nothing of Davon's recent past; thus far, a carefully-kept secret since the boy had returned to Naboo.
Artemis pretended to lose sight of Davon in the crowd, as though that was possible, dressed as he was. But he'd been too hard on his son in the past and he'd made a point of being uncritical of the series of bad decisions the boy had made since he'd run away from home, compared to which the blazer wasn't so bad, he supposed. He was proud of Davon, in fact. Not that Artemis, in his heart of hearts, had completely forgiven Davon for running away, and neither did he condone the life of a smuggler, but that Davon had survived it on his own was impressive. There was, indeed, more to both of the Vandens than most people supposed.
The news that Ana was having a baby cleared his mind of these thoughts, however, and his tongue of any and all words. If she'd not followed up the news with a 'Yes' or 'No' question, he might not have managed a word for some time, such was his happiness at this news. "Yes," he said, finally, "Yes, of course." He returned her hug and congratulated her, having so many things to say and no time to say them as he was tapped on the shoulder and told his transport was waiting.

| Ana gave him a content smile and hugged Artemis tightly. "Thank you so much. I promise that I will come and visit soon." She murmured as she noticed his new aide approaching to steal the man away. "I know you're busy, but I am glad you came, still." As she took a step back, she nearly slammed right into Davon, but managed to save herself and only teeter precariously in the heels for a moment before she stabilized herself.
And in stabilizing, she had grabbed onto Davon's arm involuntarily. It was moments before she realized it and released him just as quickly. "Davon. It's nice to see you. You look...so......" Ana took a moment to try and put it diplomatically. "....Festive?" His blazer certainly was loud, and stuck out like a sore thumb amidst the guests dressed in black tuxedos and subtly colored gowns for the black tie affair. A waiter approached with a tray and Ana held up a hand, refusing the champagne politely.
The waiter smiled and handed her a glass anyway. "Sparkling pear juice, Mrs. Stark." He whispered to her before he offered Davon a glass of champagne. "Sir." The waiter said politely before he walked off to serve other guests. Ana looked after him for several lingering moments before she turned her attention back to Davon.
"It has been a while." She finally said before she took a small sip from her glass. The memories of Davon from her last trip to Naboo were not exactly fond ones, nor anything she had thought of since she, Irlilia and Tarin left Naboo for Lorrd when Alyn had been attacked. There hadn't been a scene when Alyn was on Naboo with her, but after he left, she had hauled off on Davon in a rather severe manner about the things he had done; and the pain he had caused. It wasn't her broken heart that she had been concerned about, but Artemis' despair from the situation left in the wake of Davon's running away.

| Stark finally returned to the hall where the reception was being held. Having managed to recover his composure from the 'gift' that Tu'Rot had given him, he walked side-by-side with Mako, with the Mandalorian splitting off as Stark entered the hall proper. It seemed Vanden was departing; it had been a shame Stark had not been able to speak to the man. Nonetheless, it seemed Ana was being chatted up by the younger Vanden. Maneuvering his way through the crowd, he started heading towards them. He'd heard that Davon Vanden was a friend of Ana's, but he'd never actually had the chance to meet the man.
