Paying a Social Call to Dantooine

| Marten Flagg gazed down upon the jewel that was Dantooine, watching it from the cockpit of his Lambda-class shuttle. He had hopes that this visit was going to be more pleasant than the last, which had ended up in captivity and a bank robbery before he'd been set free. This time, this businessman would be more cautious. In addition to having a chat with Administrator Ray, who knew to expect him either today or tomorrow, Flagg wanted to see more of Dantooine's scenery than just the Garang-Khoonda area. Taikaha City was said to be a pleasant town, as was Sulem and a number of other small spots.
With this in mind and a friendly message to Dantooine Control, or what passed for it, Flagg altered his course for Taikaha City so as to better see the sights there for a few hours before continuing on.

| Dantooine Control (or what as Mr Flagg so generously highlighted as "what passed for it) was now based out of a new XQ-O station, a pair of V-Wings would approach the shuttle and give it a close inspection as it skimmed in-system.
"This here is Dantooine Customs Station, please land in bay 2 for Customs and Entry Clearance. Please have a cargo and personnel manifest available on landing. Also, please have your identification to hand." things had got rather more professional now the new station was here. The old one floated forlornly disarmed some hundreds of clicks away, now just serving as a storage unit.
A pair of Khoonda Militia Customs fellows were in the hangar. One manning the high intensity Sensor Array in one corner (prevented the need for searches in most cases) and the other idly stood by a podium with a painted line a couple of yards infront of it. A small sign stood next to the line "Y'all wait behind the line until asked to step forward."

| The XQ-O station was indeed a new addition since the last time Flagg had come to Dantooine. With his pilot acknowledging the detour and a friendly waggle of wings to the pair of V-wings, Flagg's shuttle landed within the bay, allowing Flagg, Mr. Reiper and the pilot; the shuttle's only occupants, to step out. Flagg and his small retinue held their identification papers in hand, which also included the paperwork and permits for the Model Q2 blaster, a pair of Enforcer pistols (gained by Flagg when a Morellian lost them as part of betting collateral in one of Flagg's casinos) and the Penetrator MB-450 sporting blaster pistol, owned by Flagg, Reiper and the pilot respectively. Also included were the permits for the trio of LD-1 target blaster rifles currently kept in the shuttle's lockbox for emergencies while on the ground; Flagg had learned since his capture. The shuttle carried no cargo, as it were, aside from the solitary suit of blaze armor that was registered to Reiper and that had been used to save Flagg in Sulem.
Coming up to the line, all three men waited patiently for the customs official.

| Lieutenant Hicks gestured them forward as a group. "IDs please." He said taking out three entry chips to affix to them. "What's the purpose of the visit then boys? Coming to meet some of our fine ladies? Got some hunting planned?" he drawled referring to the blasters. "Going to need your final destination on Dantooine please.." he said clicking the chips active.
The sensor bod commented over to Hicks "Transmitting ships data to your console", the Lieutenant examined it's specs as he waited for Flaggs answer. He looked over the Armament, not having seen many of these fancy Imperial shuttles and being a bit taken aback by it.

| Flagg's Lambda had been one of the first made; it had been purchased as surplus and was by no means as pristine as current-generation Lambda shuttles, but it served its purpose as an unassuming transport. "Hunting is possible, Lieutenant," Flagg mentioned. "Mostly it's for defense. The last time I was here, I was abducted and then taken as a hostage and on a bank raid in Sulem. Unpleasant business and quite detrimental to the health of one of my bodyguards, who didn't make it. We're planning to visit Taikaha City and then on to Khoonda for a visit with Administrator Ray. Despite being busy, he was kind enough to set aside time in his schedule to visit with me."

| "Your ID's are in order, I've given you gents a 90 day visitors permit, any extension needs to go via the Khoonda Militia HQ in Garang." he looked up, seeming slightly sad to affront these nice folk as he clipped the visitor permit onto their IDs and handed them back. "Your own weapons are quite legal."
"Well, unfortunately gen'lemen we have restrictions on offworld civilian craft travelling anywhere else than this station or Garang Spaceport with quite such a paramilitary armament. So that leaves us with two options. Y'all can either land at Garang and take local transport onward, they have rentals down there, or else I can temporarily disable the laser cannons and put a customs seal on them (which can be removed on leaving Dantooine Space), still leaves you with some Blaster cannons which are mighty fine for self defense? How does that sound?" Hicks said amicably.

| "That's a perfectly acceptable compromise, Lieutenant. Things are calmer here than they were in the Cronese Mandate. That place is still rife with pilots and corruption. I haven't been back to visit my casino there in some time; largely because this new Cron fellow has yet to truly crack down on such types, but there, a man needs a well-armed ship. Here, as well as certain other areas in the Outer Rim, a man can feel safely civilized." Flagg chuckled slightly and motioned to the shuttle. "Do as you must, Lieutenant. You may as well shorten the permit to two weeks; I don't anticipate being here any longer than that. A week at most, but I'd account for an extra week in case we decide to stay a bit longer."

| "Happy to hear offworlders take precautions like we do back home. Ninety days is standard sir. I'll leave it there and then if you come back within the same time period you wont have to get another one issued." he said jovially, always keen to attract people back to Dantooine. The technician put barrel de-focusers on the laser cannons and clipped customs seals onto them.
"You're free to go now Sir, Welcome to Dantooin', make sure you try a StoneKey while you're here! Your ship's transponder now will be permit atmospheric travel on Dantooine and also travel to and from the Hyperlanes. Make sure y'all don't go wandering off away to the edges of the system though, thems ain't rightly totally secure yet. If you do feel in danger the militia is on local comms channel 121. Better luck with this trip!"
They were then allowed to go.

| "Thank you for your helpful information, Lieutenant," Flagg said just as kindly. With an equally jovial wave, the three men boarded the shuttle and would depart for Taikaha City as their first stop. Along the way, Flagg composed a message to be sent to Ray's office notifying the man that Flagg had arrived at Dantooine and was taking a brief detour at Taikaha City for a day or two before proceeding to the capitol. And the shuttle continued circling, broadcasting its message. If nobody answered within the next several minutes though, it would set down just outside town in the nearest flat spot that didn't look necessarily like a field.
