Dantooine moves for the New Republic to declare war on Baltimn, to utterly destroy its government, take its resources, deport its citizenry and sell what remains to the highest bidder.

Senator Tiure, you are a warmongerer and a slaver by your words. If you are so eager for bloodshed, perhaps you should join the Remnant and declare yourself as Palpatine's son. As well you have... ah, drool, running down your chins. Please wipe that away. At least Palpatine could control his bodily fluids.

Either way, Druckenwell is extremely opposed to this measure and moves instead that Senator Tiure is called to task for his blatant disregard for life and betterment of the citizens of this galaxy.

I move that Senator Ryuun be called to order for insulting my species' inability to prevent dribbling body fluids, it is not our fault!

Furthermore, a warship from Baltimn was found in New Republic space today and eliminated refused to power down for boarding by a Dantooine anti-piracy corvette, and even took aggressive action. After they responded to an attempt at disabling their engines (so they may be interrogated) they returned fire.

We believe that it should be brought to the knowledge of the Chamber that Baltimn ships are operating unchecked behind our lines with no authorization.

I'm not insulting your species, Senator. Simply saying you could at least wipe your mouth with a napkin like the rest of us. Hopefully that isn't beyond you. Any civil being who can decare war can likely keep a neat chin.

So now Dantooine is the galactic police force? From the data I see here, Dantooine was operating far outside its own jurisdiction. No Baltimn vessel or any legitmate vessel is required to stand by and be boarded by your ships. By your words, you shot first as well, initiating the issue.

Also, it is a Baltimn ship, not ships. I believe Ambassador Stomwell should be allowed within the halls again to speak on this issue.

As a member world of the New Republic it is Dantooine's responsibility to defend it sovereignty if no New Republic ship is present, as such we acted in line with the law. The ship had no right to be inside New Republic space, none. Dantooine will not stand by idle while Baltimn attempts to expand its domain at the expense of the New Republic.

How do we know it was just one ship? They may have dozens in our space!

Declaration of War on Baltimn is unnecessary. I vote against.

I don't believe the New Republic is or should be concerned with Dantooine's animosity for Baltimn. I vote against this measure. A point of clarification, however; the Chief of State has committed the New Republic to defend Baltimn as a result of its illicit vessel having been confiscated, but he has also said, and I do not disagree with him, that it is not the Republic's place to restrain the animosities of our member worlds. How does the Chief of State intend to balance these conflicting obligations in the event that Dantooine, or other Republic worlds, go to war with Baltimn? It seems to me it would be wise to make a declaration on this matter in advance.

Also, with regard to Senator Tiure's last point, I do not think the right of Baltimn's vessels to traverse New Republic space is in question. It is, rather, whether Baltimn's vessels may engage in interdiction and other similar acts within our space. Here I, too, have doubts. But simply being in a New Republic Sector is no crime unless that Sector has expressly forbidden it.

Senator Vanden,

I would note that the New Republic has no duty to defend Baltimn.

"As so few worlds are involved, I have ordered the New Republic Defence Forces to be dispatched to all effected member worlds and provide an equally strong level of defence, this allows a good training exercise for our forces and ensures all Citizens are kept safe. "

Note that New Republic Member worlds are covered by this resolution, not the former affiliate mentioned. Baltimn withdrew its application for membership to the New Republic (apparently to focus on internal strife), and has lost its recognition in a recent senate motion.

Thus the New Republic is not obliged to defend Baltimn in any legal sense. As such Baltimn has a duty to look to its own defence at present, and also is likely to fall under the Aegis of the Neimoidian Fleet, since they have surrendered much sovereignty to Neimoidia.

However, Senator Tiure has assured me that he will not launch any offensive actions against Baltimn unless they further provoke the New Republic, commit acts of war upon their own people, or is authorised to do so by this Senate. He has also agreed that if he does feel that he has no choice but to take action, he will first consult the New Republic Diplomatic Corps.

I must say that I will push for strenous coercion to prevent New Republic members committing acts of war against Baltimn and even possible fiscal sanctions. If an Independant World etc attacked Baltimn, we would have no obligation to defend them as this would be a matter in between two non-members and none of our business.
