Lieutenant Simon Banatyne, formerly of the NIO Navy walked down to the cargo chamber of his hauler. Checking the cargo for anything interesting, he had been told he was transferring life convicts to Bastion, but as he walked through the prisoners frozen in carbonite he had the feeling he recognised someone out of the corner of his eye, turning back he rubbed the ice off a carbonite block, seeing who was inside..

Inside he saw the thin but recognisable figure of Grand Admiral Jaron Park.. one of the heroes of the Empire, and later an Emperor in his own right, he almost dropped to his knees as he saw his Emperor stand before him.. "Sire.." he said astonished. He considered... he could report the tube's contents... Park had been killed in an accident.. but this had to be a cover up.. meaning the leadership of the new excuse for an Empire was involved.

He would, could, do only one thing. He proceded up to the bridge where his deck crew sat at their stations.. proud adherants to the "New Remnant" under Pellaeon.. He had only one choice, quickly reaching for his service blaster he sent a round into the back of the heads of each in quick sucession, sending them slumped onto their consoles.

Realising he had only done what was necessary he dragged the bodies over to the garbage disposal, only what was deserved, they had abandoned the Empire, its ideals. Lieutenant Banatyne turned the ship off its course, turning off its transponders and setting course for Prakith.

Remembering he had a cousin with Cross' rebels, perhaps men who still believed in Honor, in glory, in destiny, he sent a Holomessage to him "Cousin, you wont believe this, but I have the Admiral, Lord Park of Deralia, I'm on the run with him in Carbonite, Could your Captain Cross offer us safe passage?"

On Banatyne's proximity sensors he would hear a screech and feel his ship pulled out of hyperspace as a large asteroid, moved by targeted explosive charges into the shipping lane. The Gamma-class assault shuttle "Divine Prophet" sped out from under the lee of the asteroid.

"Blessed be ye dear friends, for ye have been selected to succour the faithful" spoke a deep baritone voice over the communicator. It locked its weapons on the bridge of the Bulk freighter and opened fire with its ion cannons, launching a disabling volley of its circuitry before firing a power harpoon, using this it ratcheted itself closer to the crippled freighter...

"No!" Banatyne screamed as he dispatched a final distress call to his cousin with cross, before moving over to the armoury crate located behind his captains chair. Opening the weapons locker he seized a pair of outdated blaster rifles, the only functional longarms onboard and moving down into the cargo gantries.

He spoke aloud to the ships computer "Computer, give me an estimated time it will take the pirates to burn through the hull", some seconds later the computer, having taken a few seconds to interpret the words, and some more to make the calculation replied "Less than five minutes Captain Banatyne"

Desperate now he slid down the ladder to where Emperor Park was located, pressing the code to release him from carbonite, the carbonite began to glow before seconds later, the weakened and blind but recognizable Admiral Jaron Park fell from the block. "Admiral, this is Lieutenant Banatyne, I served under you at Vjun.. we are about to be borded by Leirooine Fanatics" he pressed the blaster rifle into the Admiral's arms "I fear we may now die sir, but it would be a damn fine honour to die next to you sir.".

He racked the blaster rifle and turned it towards the end of the gantry where the assault-shuttle was starting to cut through into the cargo bay, hiding his body behind park's old block of carbonite and taking a bead on the glowing patch on the wall.

The man's cousin was in fact newly promoted to Commander, in the process becoming the new commanding officer of the Lancer Frigate Cascade. Following repairs at Prakith, the Lancer was on a mission into Imperial Space, and so happened to be nearby. Despite the consequences, the Commander wanted to help his cousin. They held a common bond, through family as well as their service in the NIO. Zebulon Banatyne had joined the NIO during its formation, when he was a young and bright eyed Ensign. His age kept him from serving Thrawn as he wished to, but through the NIO's re-establishment of the Imperial Academy system in their space, he was able to serve for a cause he believed in. Making the Empire better. Some would say the same goal was of Pellaeon, but it wasn't. He was a traitor to the Empire, as were all the others that went along with the peace. All the others that didn't continue to fight for the Imperial ideal. Thus, for the past decade, he had been with Admiral Cross, serving throughout the fleet. Now, he was given his chance at his own command. Yes, this action would possibly have dire consequences, but...blood was thicker than water, at the end of the day, the only thing that truely remained was your family.

As the Ribaldequin pirates began their boarding operation, the Cascade dropped out of hyperspace along side the hauler and immediatly attached an umbilical to do some boarding of its own. A squad of Stormtroopers ran across the umbilical the moment it pressurized and immediatly began to cut their way into the hull as well.

Park had little memory of what had transpired since the attempted assassination. Suddenly, he felt himself going from blackness to dropping to the floor. Immediatly, he began coughing hard, and working out the muscle cramps. "What the...where am I?" he asked aloud. Immediatly, a voice answerd. "Admiral, this is Lieutenant Banatyne, I served under you at Vjun.. we are about to be borded by Leirooine Fanatics." said the voice, with a blaster rifle being immediatly thrust into his arms. "I fear we may now die sir, but it would be a damn fine honour to die next to you sir." were the next words he heard. He smiled, and laughed a little. He felt the rifle for a moment. A BlasTech DC-15S Blaster. 'Damn, how broke has the Empire become?' he thought to himself, knowing that his former allegience was somehow behind this.

He couldn't see a thing...physically. Thus, he tapped into the Force, focusing all his ability to use it to see. While he did so, he wouldn't be able to use much more than simple, basic powers, probably just Push, but it would allow him to attempt to survive. "It will be an honor to die along side one of my loyal officers." he said to the man, looking at him. "However, you will find, once you have faced death as much as I have... all you have to do is bash it down into its hole a little, and you will live to fight another day." he said, nodding towards the wall behind them. He could tell those were Imperial troops on the otherside of the hull, and that something was different about them than those had encountered of this "Remnant" that Pellaeon was running. "All we have to do, is give them the time they need to cut through... and let them do their job." he said, trying to inspire the man next to him.
