They had been completely distracted by the IMC fleet, and were hammered by missles from the Brentaal flotilla. He watched as the scene before him lit up the bridge. "Emergency evasives!" he screamed, as the fleet began breaking its precise formation in an attempt to dodge the missles, however to little aid. "Sir, the Olympic is crippled. Captain Donitz says he can no longer continue combat operations. The entire cruiser line is requesting permission to withdraw from the combat zone." reported his communications officer.

He looked at the tactical map, noting that the TIE Interceptors that had redirected from their escort duties had dropped back into the atmosphere. He would have a tough decision to make, but the enemy, however lacking in strategic value their decision was, had unexpectedly broken their entire blockade and brought everything they had against them. And in essence, their mission was complete...as the transports now were hitting the surface within all major population centers, and would soon begin deploying their forces. They couldn't give the support they thought they would, at least at the time.

He turned to his communications office as the battle group's weapons shifted into defensive posturing, including targetting the next volley of missles. "All forces, withdraw. Full speed ahead." he ordered. Since they were now with the underside of their hulls facing the planet, it left open space, aside from any blockade ships sitting in front of them. The entire battle group quickly hit their engines into full speed, with the Captains all anxious to get out of the combat zone as quickly as possible, and were ready to hit hyperspace as soon as they were out of the gravity well of the planet.

SUMMARY
The Cruiser Line takes heavy damage, with shields begining to fail.

TIE Interceptor Group that moved up to aid the TIE Fighters, fall back to the surface, loosing 6 in the process.

Ground forces begin landing in major population centers, with transports being abandoned by the Battle Group.

The Battle Group shifts its fire into a defensive pattern, including the second missle volley, and begin withdrawing at full speed, ready to hit hyperspace at the edge of the gravity well.

Unfortunately for the Olympic, the time required for it to come about well within Acherin's gravitic field (a difficult maneuver for a ship of even half its size) would be much too long; the MC80 cruiser Kruusificent completed its barrage of the smaller vessel, apparently undeterred by any organized resistance. The cruiser's 20 ion cannon batteries did the trick, as the Olympic's hull darkened, its lights wimpering out and its engines and guns silenced. The ship would list there for a few hours before its orbit would start to degrade. Thankfully for its crew, the Kruusificent―which had been its assailant―would then be its savior, using its powerful tractor beams to stabilize the crippled Imperial ship.

But all of that was still hours away. For now, the MC80 remained on the prowl, its turbolasers continuing to hammer the Achilles even while its ion cannons moved onto their next target, the wounded Spartan. With both Imperial ships having now turned around in a general retreat, their engines (and especially the Spartan's engines) made convenient targets for the Kruusificent even while the Olympic fell away beneath it. It was very likely that the Neimoidian cruiser's guns would slow the smaller, Imperial picket long enough to disable it as well, while its turbolasers would only just begin to punch holes in the Achilles' shields.

Brentaal's corvettes and their accompanying fighters, realizing that the enemy was in retreat, promptly dispersed and made no attempt to stop them. The Neimoidian Assassin-class corvettes followed suit, leaving only the Kruusificent and its 24 B-Wings and 12 X-wings (and whatever ships the IMC was willing to commit to the "chase"). But for all intents and purposes, the engagement would soon be over. However, whether or not the Spartan would see the same fate as her sister ship, the Olympic, remained very much in question.

Summary
The Olympic is disabled by the Kruusificent's ion cannon fire; the Kruusificent (and her fighter compliment) then moves on to the retreating Spartan and especially its engines, all while continuing to fire its 48 turbolasers on the Achilles and beginning to puncture its shields, and thus its hull (particularly at the base and rear of its superstructure, and its engines). Meanwhile, the Brentaalan and Neimoidian corvettes and accompanying fighters break off the attack and begin to regroup as the Imperial ships retreat.

As they had pulled away from the planet, the ships pushed their shields into double rear protection, to keep their vulnerable engines protected from fire. With the exception of the disabled Olypmic, the battle group moved quickly to escape the gravity well as fighters quickly entered their hangars. Onboard the Achilles, Rice stood, watching the tactical display. Their mighty shields were holding, but had some points where they began to weaken. "Sir, fighter recall complete. Orders?" reported his XO. He looked at the Commander, and then back at the display. "There's nothing more we can do in this situation. We were caught off guard...the enemy had a stronger defensive capability than we anticipated. Make the jump to the edge of the system." he said to his trusted right hand. The man nodded and walked off to give the respective orders.

Within moments, the battle group jumped out of the combat zone, and would arrive at the edge of the system and receive their next set of orders. Meanwhile, the battered Olympic, barely functioning, was chaotic within. Captain Donitz, a seasoned veteran who had rose up from the enlisted ranks to his position since the Clone Wars, was able to regain the composure of his crew within minutes, and now the command crew awaited his orders. "All personnel, abandon ship. Head for the surface. What's left of our fighters are to give you cover. When you get down there, link up with any ground forces you encounter and make way by any means possible to the headquarters General Tartarus has established in the capital." he said. Immediatly, the crew made their way to the escape pods. Donitz however, stayed on his bridge, using what functioning controls were left to divert power to the escape pod launches. Once the launches were complete, the remaining power the ship had went into life support, the reactor core, and other systems to prepare for surrender. The fighters left of the Olympic's complement escort the escape pods, ensuring the blockading forces didn't attempt to kill the helpless crew.

Captain Karl Donitz, a man who had served the Empire since before it was so, now stood on his bridge, looking over its battle damage, wishing this had gone better. The PA was stretched too far, otherwise, the blockade could have been smashed due to their tactical mistakes and complete breaking of the blockade to bring their full force against their forces. It was a sad state, something he hoped would be corrected, either by withdrawing from the far flung reaches of their territory or force expansion. None the less, it was a sad fact that the mighty Pentastar Alliance couldn't combat two planetary military forces and a corporate security force. He stood there, looking out the viewport at the retreating rest of the battle group. "Remember us..." he said to himself. He then made his way to the communications consule, and sent out a message to the civilian blockade. "This is Captain Karl Donitz of the PAS Olympic...I am prepared to surrender." he said. He then messed with a few of the other control in preperation for surrendering to the enemy, and then stood at attention in front of the doors of the bridge, awaiting a enemy force to secure his vessel.

SUMMARY
Battle group recalls non-hyperspace capable fighters, and jumps to the edge of the system

Olympic crew evacuates, fleeing to the surface in escape pods under the escort of the remains of the Olympic's fighters

Captain Donitz prepares the Olympic for surrender, and then sends a message to the blockade, declaring his intent to surrender

((Apologies mates, didn't realise it was on me to post.))

He stood in the Sentinel as it touched down. Out before him, thirty six Stormtroopers came swarming out. He and his aides, donning their, albeit modified with kamas and command pauldrons, stormtrooper armor as well, came in behind them. "Let Acherin High Command know that I am on the field and assuming command." he said to one of the officers. He then walked over to a field command center that had been set up in the capital city, Sood. As he walked in, the peronnel quickly snapped to attention and gave a salute, which he returned, and then quickly resumed their duties. "Order the three outer Battalions to form up within their cities. Advise them to use their NavForce attachments as screening forces. Redirect our NavForce attachment as well as Major General Widder to Eluthan, to assume direct command of the Acherin forces." he instructed as he assumed a spot on the holographic projector, watching the deployment.

Within minutes, they were in force. The AT-ATs and AT-STs within the capital were assuming defensive positions, with several missle teams deployed throughout the city. He had sniper teams deploy into most tall buildings, with Storm Commando units that had been attached to his division, leading the outer city preparations. Soon, Scouttrooper teams were conducting forward observing and scouting of the country side. He was soon uplinked with each Major, and spoke to them briefly. "Majors, your mission today is to defend the world. Should a Rebel ground force be landed, you are to funnel them towards the capital city, but do not stray too far from your assigned locations, as you could be targets for orbital bombardment. Let the Acherin forces do most of the field fighting. Do not take actions against any civilians unless they become aggressors, and defiance of this order will result in immediate execution." he said. He then cut the connection, turning to his adjutant. "Sir, General Widder reports in, the Acherin military has twenty divisions of ten thousand men each, along with a wing of MorningStar-C Starfighters, and a wing of A-9 Interceptors. They also have a squadron of Advanced Toscan Fighters. There is, obviously, no naval presence." reported the Colonel.

Tartarus nodded to him. He preferred not to say anything to the man personally, for he was new, as his former adjutant had retired, and his name escaped him for the time being. "Order five divisions around the capital city, have a division go on standby by the three frontline cities, with an additional two spread out throughout the planet. Leave ten division on reserve in Eluthan." he said. He then watched the command center activities, and awaited for New Republic to come.

In space, all was quiet. In the hours since the Pentastar Alignment's fleet had withdrawn--while Tartarus and his men fortified themselves on the planet below--the blockade had assembled itself again to a certain extent (though not the same extent as before, considering its mission profile had changed significantly to now include a defensive role). A few more cargo ships were seized and delivered to the Lucrehulk, as before, but for the most part the blockading vessels simply waited, biding their time until the New Republic arrived.

The Mon Calamari cruiser Kruusificent presided over the captured Olympic, using its tractor beams to move the crippled vessel into a high orbit, and ordering its Captain, Donitz, to await boarding by New Republic forces. It was also peppered with occasional ion cannon fire, making certain that all of its systems (electronic and mechanical, lights, doors, consoles, communications, everything) were down. Even the life support was out, although Donitz would be fine for several hours, as the only man on the ship.

Meanwhile, Brentaal's and Neimoidia's corvettes (now with starfighter escort) made periodic flights into Acherin's atmosphere, remaining far above firing range and simply observing and cataloguing the troop movements on the surface (with the exception of one incident, in which a procession of AT-AT and AT-ST walkers was seen moving from a landing barge without apparent cover; the opportunity was exploited by the Cormond, which made a series of perfectly executed runs against the line of walkers and, by its own estimation, destroyed at least five of them).

A holoconference of officers from the three fleets agreed that the colored smoke signals they had observed in the skies above Sood were almost certainly related to the Pentastar Alignment's subsequent landing. Therefore, someone was watching, and the fleets sent their respective starfighters on wide patrols in the space around Acherin to search for Imperial ships elsewhere in the system. Having now searched for nearly two hours, if there was anything still out there, it would inevitably be found soon.

((Not to cause an intestinal jihad here mate, but I believe I've got a wing of TIE Interceptors giving some air cover here. So, I don't think you'll be turning my walker boys into pink mist...))
