A group of people may be tied together by many things. By race, by ideals, by family, by creed. And we are all here, joined in unity and fraternity as members of this, the New Republic. As such I feel it would be appropriate to have an official tune and song to be used to symbolise this, the New Republic.

I have contacted several prestigious composers from across the galaxy, and eventually I settled upon the Alderaanian composer Hustav Golst, who wrote the following piece of music.

After much consultation the following lyrics have been composed.

I vow to thee, my Republic, all earthly things above,
Entire and whole and perfect, the service of my love;
The love that asks no question, the love that stands the test,
That lays upon the altar the dearest and the best;
The love that never falters, the love that pays the price,
The love that makes undaunted the final sacrifice.

And there's another Republic, I've heard of long ago,
Most dear to them that love her, most great to them that know;
We may not count her armies, we may not see her power;
Her fortress is a faithful heart, her pride is suffering;
And soul by soul and silently her shining bounds increase,
And her ways are ways of gentleness, and all her paths are peace.

I think you will all agree, this is a worthwhile gesture that will give us all a shared sense of unity, brotherhood and hope as we embark forward upon the tasks awaiting us of liberating the rest of the galaxy and improving the quality of life for each an every one of our citizens, and now each one will be able to join in song in our shared endeavour.
