The Commerce Council is recieving reports of sudden, ionized meteor showers in the path of the outer Corellian Run in region Q16, as a result of an unexpected comet collision. Because the ionization may render particle shields inoperable, these meteors are believed to pose a TYPE 1 EXTREME CELESTIAL HAZARD to all interstellar traffic on that portion of the trade route. The Council is hereby ordering the outermost section of the Corellian Run quarantined, until the meteor showers have passed. This measure is a precaution for public safety, but we apologize nonetheless for the inconvenience posed to the following worlds and those traveling outbound to them:

- Tythe and Nelvaan; expected delays of 5.8 standard hours
- Lok; expected delays of 8.5 standard hours
- Tatooine and Geonosis; expected delays of 15 standard hours
- Ryloth; expected delays of 24.4 standard hours
- Acherin; 48.5 standard hours
- Lamaredd; 50.2 standard hours

The preceding delay estimates are based on the alternate route recommended by the Commerce Council; to divert from the Corellian Run at Ando, take the Manda-Roon Merchant Route to Roon, and divert to the Death Wind Corridor to Ryloth. This route is subject to many delays and hazards, and vessels are discouraged from attempting it without an experienced navigator. Those traveling on this route be advised that accomodations can be made at Siskeen for food, fuel and lodging. We apologize again for the delay, and expect the meteor showers to pass and the quarantine to be lifted within 56 hours.

All pilots in the vicinity are encouraged to check their Bureau of Ships and Services (BoSS) manual for proper precautions in the event of a severe meteor strike, and if they are piloting a vessel with multiple, partitioned compartments or modular cargo pods, it is recommended that such compartments remain sealed at all times (and depressurized, where possible), and that all blast doors be closed. Also, be sure your vessel is fully stocked with consumables and its emergency beacons fully operational, as rescue efforts can take a number of days should your ship be disabled. Remember that vessels with inoperable emergency beacons may be cited.

Thank you for your patience, and understanding.

Senator Cambrist, Brentaal
Chairman of the Commerce Council

Senators,

To assure you, the Cato Neimoidian Based "Galaxiship" and the Pure Neimoidia based 'Neimoidian Express' will be running automated cargo ships up and down the run for emergency cargo etc. However, a special pricing schedule will be put into place in order to purchase heightened levels of insurance for our ships and your cargo.

The Commerce Council has learned that an earlier report of ionized meteor showers in the path of the outer Corellian Run in region Q16 as a result of an unexpected comet collision was, in fact, mistaken. The Council has verified that there has been no such collision, and no such meteor showers. Thus, region Q16 is deemed safe for commerce, and the quarantine is lifted immediately. We apologize for the error, the delay, and the inconvenience.

Senator Sir Reuke Cambrist, Brentaal
Chairman of the Commerce Council
