She could not say how much time had passsed, how long she had slumbered, hovering between the waking world and the shadowy dream world. Was it death? She could not be sure. It was a place of peace though. There in that darkness she did not feel, nor did she dream, and that was blessing enough. If death had come for her, she mused, then she could be satisifed.

Beyond the shrunken awareness of the Sith were sounds that did not reach her. A small stasis field generator hummed along resolutely, and nearby that, a life support machine pinged and beeped as it regulated the lifesigns of the woman. There was no door, no way for any sentient being to gain entry to the chamber in which the woman slumbered. An extraordinary precaution, to be sure. But a wise one nontheless.

TERMINAL B, UNKNOWN PLANET, NEUTRAL TERRITORY
LONG AFTER DARTH ACHERONS ADVENTURE

Being contained within a vat of bacta often made one disoriented, but the self-contained sphere that she was trapped within had been a test and a precaution. Checking the readout, a lone medical worker examined the thermal reading from outside the sphere, glancing up haphazardly towards the obsidian stone that encased her tank. Inside was just enough room for her to get out of the tank and make a circuit of the sphere, but beyond that she was trapped.

The worker examined his controls again, monitoring her life readings. The obvious way to escape seemed evident to him, but that was because he had created the entire chamber, and so was at the forefront of all the hidden features he had put inside.

    A door hissed open.

“My lord, the subject has recovered about two-thirds of her vital readings, I estimate that she will be fully recovered within half a day and then I can wake her.”

“No,” came the resonance of the modulated voice, the bass turned high enough that the medical worker felt his heart vibrate from the boom. He audibly swallowed, trying to catch a glimpse of what the man meant by his statement—but that mask was impenetrable.

“With all respect my lord... No?”

“Revive her now,” the masked man turned towards the sphere, “if my apprentice cannot survive your traps trickster, then perhaps she was never meant to be my apprentice.” There was a pause, neither the man nor the worker moved or talked—till the man glanced over his shoulder, “problem?”

With a start the worker began the procedure, ending her slumber period with a brief joint and beginning the primer to bring her vital signs to full quickly and consciously. Hopefully she survived—the entire trap that is.
