To our Most Loyal Captain Heller,

We the Economic Magnates of the Pentastar Alignment, write this letter affirming our loyalty to the Pentastar Alignment, its Politorate and Lawful Institutions.

In recent days matters have developed that are of utmost concern to the wellbeing of the Pentastar Alignment. In recent days Moff Konig has declared his wish, and intent, for all-out warfare with the New Republic.

While this is in itself not an evil, it is something that we can ill afford at this very moment, as you as a senior officer of the military will be aware. After what can only be described (from our sources, official ones are not forthcoming) as a horrendous defeat at Acherin, the Alignment stands on a knife edge. We have much benefited from isolationism and passivity, it seems we are not gaining through aggression.

Moff Konig has declared his intention to utterly militarise the economy in order to fight the New Republic, this, we are all agreed would damage wages, and ultimately harm the wider economy that has been decribed as 'the economic miracle of the remnant'.

The Sedition Act, which has been passed only these few hours is also an act which treatens us, not because it takes away freedom of speech, which is irrelevant, but because it takes away the perception that we are a 'moderate' faction, a factor which has insulated us from much of the wider criticism (and military prioritising) that has afflicted the rest of the remnant.

I would urge you to express our concerns to your fellow officers if possible and ask Moff Konig to reconsider his position, if it does come down to it, I would ask that you would consider the protection of those most loyal to the Pentastar Alignment and its best interests.

Signed Faithfully.

Director Mallix, Foreman Grund, and Chairman Clinkelhofen:

I apologize for the delay in contacting you, as I have been on assignment of late and did not recieve your letter until recently. I regret to inform you also that I've just witnessed the destruction of our shipyards at Jaemus, at the hands of the Moff Council. This event, and the others to which you have alluded, have caused me to join in your concern for the Pentastar Alignment and its best interests. The Jaemus affair, in particular, is a troubling episode in that I and others have long recommended that the planet, and others in the region, be fortified. That our government was unable to consider this recommendation--because its priorities, as you've suggested, seem elsewhere--troubles me greatly.

I also share your belief that "militarizing" our economy and industries would prove disasterous to the Pentastar Alignment. Did I understand you correctly on this point and if so, with all due respect, are you certain that Moff Konig intends this? It would be, simply, catastrophic; it is exactly because of the Alignment's diverse and competitive industries and institutions that we have persisted in prosperity and, I would suggest, in relative peace for so many years. Of course I agree with you that we must continue to oppose the New Republic, but it is nonsensical to compromise our current position of strength in order to conduct what, one assumes, would be a costly, if not suicidal campaign against them.

The Sedition Act may have certain advantages, but it would not surprise me if, in fact, it was intended to prevent the sort of discussion that we are now having. I hope, in this matter, that I am not speaking in haste; I will of course give the good Moff the benefit of my doubt, and I will broach the subject with him should the opportunity present itself. In the meantime, I assure you that the concerns we share are also shared by a number of my colleagues (you will understand if I am reluctant to name them). I thank you for contacting me. It is good to know that we have the best interests of the Pentastar Alignment at heart.
