| Fourteen years. She had been a senator for her homeworld of Chandrilla for fourteen years. The fact that she loved her job never changed, never wavered in that span of time. There had been a moment of hesitation ten years ago when she was travelling with Tremaine. He was campaigning for the Chief of State position. The hesitation did not even last long enough for her to remember it most of the time. Ilanah Thanatos tapped the stylus for her datapad on the top of her clear glass desk in her senate office. The chrono on her desk bleeped and she snapped her attention to it. "Ah." She let the stylus fall from her hand before she pushed herself to her feet. Absently, the senator smoothed her hands over the dress she was wearing before she left her office. Her assistant met her outside of her office door with a coffee in one hand and her comm in the other. "Thank you...I don't know how long I will be, but I will be at the Sky Room if you need me." She had lunch plans. Lana dropped the comm in a little wristlet and wandered down the hall past office after office. Finally she reached the one she wanted. His receptionist motioned Lana past, and the door was open, so she stepped into the doorway, spotting the Senator at his own desk. "Are you ready, Eli?" Lana asked, smirking slightly. "Or are you still busy looking for ways to almost get yourself kicked out of the Senate Hall?" She joked, trying not to let out a small laugh. "Because my assistant made reservations for the Sky Room at 12:15...or did you forget?"

| Fitzgerald laughed, something he wasn't known to do often on the Senate floor in recent weeks. "Come in, Lana," he said. He had been standing at his office viewport, a datapad in one hand and both a writing stylus and a mug of coffee in the other. His opponents were right in one of their favorite criticisms of him; that he'd not changed much over the years. But he did not apologize for this. He'd always liked coffee, dammit, and he wasn't giving it up now. "I'm just reading some of my hate mail while I finish this drink," he added, sardonically. "Consider yourself lucky," he said, smiling as he placed the datapad down on his desk, "You're too lovely for anyone to hate you." It was, perhaps, another of the playfully inpolitic comments that he was infamous for, and loved to make. It had once been said that he had a way with words in the Senate Rotunda, but spent most of his time outside of it apologizing. "Still," he went on, drinking from his mug and then clearing his throat, "Even the hate mail's been more polite than the Senate lately." "But enough of all that," he said with a shrug, as he went about unrolling his sleeves, buttoning the cuffs and eventually retrieving the jacket from the back of his chair and pulling it on. He finished his coffee, set the mug down, and approached Illanah, gesturing for them to walk for the door. "I didn't forget the reservation," he said, "I'm just late for everything now that I don't have a full time staff anymore to keep me on schedule. In retrospect, it's scary that I used to run the Republic. Shall we go?"

| Ilanah Thanatos looked at him thoughtfully and then smiled. "Oh I am sure that I am disliked, not as much as you." She got hate mail just like he did, she just chose to ignore it for the most part. Lana took a shallow breath as she listened to him. Once his jacket was on, she slipped her arm into his idly, as she had many times before. "Eli...I might be a little biased, but I still think that you were a fantastic chief of state, and the galaxy was better with you in that position. Especially now. You know my feelings on that though." She said. "Full time staff or not. Maybe a better assistant is in order?" "And you weren't late. I was. Aris' school called and apparently she was being a little too argumentative in her Principals of Democracy class." Lana worried that her and Tremaine's child was a little too much like her parents. "Again." Lana offered a small smile. "Anyway, other than all of that, how are you? It's been too long since we've done this." Silently, she was just a little concerned about him.

| The Senate Hall... a place Havoc had visited before. Except the only time he visited it, was when he was ordered to retake it from the Imperials, but he was injured during the battle and left the raising of the flag to the true heroes of the fighters. However this was the place of Havoc's new mission; dropping off the latest addition to of the Coruscant Journal to a very special person. As Havoc's speeder bike approached it, he begun to slow down until he came to a full stop. Sitting on it was Havoc, in his robe, tunic, black cargo pants, and his boots. He was technically still a Jedi... except one lost to the cause. However people were people... they wouldn't really notice a difference. He removed his body from the bike and reached for the paper. The paper was highlighted with several parts, and not to mentioned underline (This was due to Havoc's highlighter going dead). He would ensure his friend was remembered somehow... even if his name did get dirty for a little. But a name after death is worth it;s weight in gold. Havoc started his approach towards the Senate Hall when his ear piece went off. "The X-wing is ready" came GP on the other end. In the last 9 years, the robotic friend of Havoc was rebuilt with new parts, compliments of several company trashcans. They may have been thrown away, but Havoc's technical skills improved their faults, and now the Rogue Jedi had a better friend and much more mission capible battle droid. Nodding some, Havoc continued his way up the steps. "Perfect... now it will only be a matter of time before our guest greets us." He said cautiously as he entered. He stopped towards the signs and looked. "This is where I need to be." The General Reception area, where he could drop off his paper, and it would get to the designated office in no time. Better yet... Havoc didn;t have to forge a name. He proceeded towards the elevator and stepped in. He stood in the middle of everyone as it went up. As it came to a stop, Havoc took his step off. As he begun to walk, he could hear the echo of his boots as he proceeded down the hallway. This time around, his robe covered his lightsaber and his other goodies that he had. Entering a small room, he stood in line for the reception window. As it was his turn, he approached the window. "Greetings Master Jedi... how may I assist the Order today?" Asked the droid, causing Havoc to smirk. "I have urgant documents for Senator Fitzgerald... it is something that he needs asap..." Havoc lied, but handed the paper to the droid. The droid briefly looked at the paper, then back at Havoc. "Are you aware the Senator already has the latest issue?" The Rogue Jedi grinned. "He requested it to be hid in the paper..." He thought to himself, "robotic twit." The Droid placed the paper in a shoot that would put the paper in direct range with the office. It then turned around and bowed. "Of course, Master Jedi. I do apologize... have a nice day." Havoc turned and walked away while muttering, "You too" It didn't take Havoc much to get back outside. As he got to his speeder bike, he tapped his ear piece. "I'm on approach." GP shot back, "Roger." Kicking on his bike, Havoc sped off, leaving a loud roar in his disapearance.

| "I'm good," he lied, even though the politics of peace had taken more of a toll on him than he was willing to admit. He didn't mind so much that people no longer asked him for advice, or greeted him as warmly in the Senate corridors as they used to. But the impact on his personal life had been difficult. When he stepped down as Chief of State, he was relieved to be able to make up for lost time with his daughter and, perhaps, to renew his relationship with Sena, his ex-wife. But she had always been as political and as stubborn as he was; her aristocratic parents started to wonder (aloud) why he was on the holonet every day making an ass of himself, and whether that was the best example to set for a child. Eventually, she wondered the same. The two of them argued anew—about that (Eli, of course, thought he was setting a fine example), about peace, about many things—and once again they went their separate ways. But this is why he enjoyed his time with Lana, infrequent though it was. She was one of few politicians he knew who was candid in her opinions, and even disagreeing with her on the Senate floor, as he did occasionally, was fun. It was refreshing, since politics lately had become so acrimonious. But above all, Illanah was one of few people he knew, certainly on Coruscant (where he spent most of his time, these days), who was willing to talk about something other than politics. Something else, to take his mind off of the speeches, the hate mail, Ponc and, yes, a certain slug. In any case, he definitely understood what Tremaine saw in her. "Thank you," he said at Illanah's compliment, smiling with some embarassment as he looked idly at the carpeted floor a few paces ahead of them down the corridor while they walked. He didn't handle compliments well, because like most politicians he secretly enjoyed the approval of others and, also like most politicians, did not admit this even to himself. "Sorry to hear about Aris," he changed the subject, "Tell her to keep at it! I think I'm usually the one who gets Jena in trouble at school, because I'm always encouraging her to ask obnoxious questions. It's because I never had the chance to where I grew up, Sena says." He trailed off for a moment, glancing out a couple of passing viewports as they went on their way. That sentence brought up more bad memories than he'd intended. "But how are you doing?" he asked, turning his attention back to her, "And how's Tremaine? I don't see much of him on the floor these days."

| "Tremaine has been attending to business on the Outer Rim, or else he would be dealing with Aris' school instead of me. I tend to disagree with the principal in the way that her education is handled." She smiled a little. "Other than that, we are doing well. I miss him, of course, but I don't want to leave Coruscant with Aris still in school. Maybe when she is on break. But he should be home soon anyway....I hope." "I hear that Caden is doing very well at the Jedi Academy though." Lana thought it over for a moment, not saying anything more than that. Not many aside from Eli knew that she had a son in the Academy. And the only reason he was in Academy was because of his real father. Tremaine had just adopted him. "How old is your daughter now, anyway?" She asked. "Aris is nine, Caden is fourteen, almost fifteen...next month." Lana had forgotten since it had been so long since she had seen Eli's daughter anyway. Lana stopped walking once they had reached the landing platform that her sleek black speeder was sitting on. It was a shiny black with dark tinted windows, blasterproof, as Tremaine had insisted. The driver stepped out of the speeder, opening the doors for the two senators, and Lana slid in and settled herself against the smooth leather seat. "Still the Sky Room, Ms. Thanatos?" She nodded briefly and glanced out the open door and saw a droid waddling out onto the platform with a paper in hand.

| "She'll be sixteen on Restoration Day," he said as he followed her into the speeder, having first waved the driver aside and held the door for Lana himself (chivalry, yes, but he also never liked the idea of a door being held open for him, even as Chief of State). "There's a birthday party I'm not looking forward to," he smiled as the door was closed behind them, and the speeder soon got underway—the poor droid from Fitzgerald's office would have to wait until he got back. Insisting on holding his own door was, in fact, one of many aggravations he'd caused his poor staff (and his security detail) when he was Chief of State. For instance, he also wasn't used to traveling in a blastproof speeder; against the advice of everyone, he'd always declined all but the slightest security. His term was still remembered largely for the risks that he took, including multiple flights into Imperial Remnant space—and even speeches hastily delivered there—when the war was still on. This, and other little things (such as refusing to live in the Imperial Palace, as other Chiefs of State had and still did) he considered important symbols. Not that he didn't mind a little privacy, however. It was nice to have a speeder that was more discreet for a change, to keep the cameras away. He relaxed on the speeder's upholstery, unbuttoning his jacket so that he could stretch his arm over the empty seat beside him, as he sat opposite of Lana. "I'm glad your children are doing well, especially Caden," he said, and then added honestly, "It's a hard time to be a Jedi. Most of the Senate hates them, and many of the people do too. Perhaps this is why we need them now more than ever." "Speaking of the Senate," he said with a wry grin, stealing a glance at his wrist chrono, "Do you suppose the Sky Room serves drinks this early? I could sure use one after having to watch Senator Kruus, of all people, be appointed Poet Laureate." In fact, this was saying a lot for Fitzgerald who, as it was well known, drank rarely and, when he did, lightly. He had always boasted that his first official act as Chief of State was to remove the last Chief of State's liquor cabinet from his office and replace it with, no surprise, a small coffee bar. The office had smelled like caffeine ever since and, he was told, it still did. But even though he'd never been one to drink alcohol therapeutically, he had found himself resorting to it more often lately. The peace treaty really did bother him as much as he said it did, and in honesty, Cambrist was probably half right about his motivations. That and no politician (despite what they say) could ignore their approval ratings, or feel warm inside to see them plummet. His advisors on Ralltiir were telling him that if he loses his election, it will be because he didn't campaign hard enough; the he didn't want it enough. Perhaps they were right. He smiled at Lana, somewhat randomly as far as she would know, but he was glad simply not to think about all of that. Not now, at least.

| Lana took a brief moment to look at a small hand held datapad that she had. She turned the notifications to silent and laid it on the seat next to her. "He is better being a Jedi than what his father was, despite some of the close mindedness that runs rampant in the senate. It's like a disease, isn't it? The inability for some senators to see other sides of things. Sad." Lana realized she was rambling, but it was her way at times. He should have been used to it by now. She felt a little lucky, however, that Caden was turning out nothing like his father. And she was more lucky that Tremaine had helped her find him. The senator snapped out of it a moment later. "Drinks? Uhm..." She checked her delicate silver wrist chrono for a moment. "Yes...I don't see why not. It is lunchtime, after all. It's not like we're drinking at 9am or anything." Lana smiled a little. It wasn't long before the speeder landed on one of the private landing pads. "So how long do you think we can go without talking about work, Eli? Lets try to not...ok?"

| "Alright," he said, leaning back in his chair and considering for a moment with something like a mischievious grin on his face. "Speaking of 16th birthdays, how well do you remember yours?" he asked, "And I promise I'm not asking to make you feel old, since I'm the oldest one in this speeder," he laughed. He asked because it occurred to him that his daughter lived in a galaxy that, although flawed, was far better than the one he'd grown up in. His earliest memories were of stormtroopers, and TIE Bombers, and well, other unpleasantness that he was glad Jena didn't have to experience. Still, he felt guilty that he wasn't spending as much time on Ralltiir as he'd prefer. His parents never had a choice in the matter (the Empire ultimately decided how much time they would spend with Eli), but now he did. He tried to remind himself of this often, but politics seemed so demanding on his time that whenever he took a break from it, as he did now with Lana, he was reminded moreover. The driver interrupted them, as the speeder pulled into an enclosed and lavishly decorated landing pad. "The Sky Room, Ms. Thanatos," he announced over the comm. Once again, Fitzgerald had him beat—opening the door long before he could, stepping out and holding the door for Lana. "Let's hope the media don't see us," he said, jokingly (and presciently, he would find out later), "They might get the wrong idea."

| She looked thoughtful for a moment as a smile spread across her face. "My sixteenth birthday. Well...." Her cheeks flushed a rather rosy color before she looked to him again. "My parents threw a huge cotillion on Chandrila. Complete with the huge white dress and all of my girlfriends in fancy dresses. A ball...with an orchestra. There had to have been at least 500 people there. And boys. My father thought that he would marry me off to the rich son of a General or an Aristocrat. So really, while it was my party, it was really a party for him to find a match for me." She trailed off for a moment, remembering meeting Kal at that very party. Everything her father wanted for her, or so they had thought. Lana snapped out of it. "My friends at university threw a kegger when I went back from Chandrila. That party I don't remember so much." She smirked at him as the car pulled to a stop. Ilanah didn't seem the type to party like that, but she did, and it was much more fun than the party her parents threw. "What do you remember of yours?" "Since when does the paparazzi bother you, Eli? Besides what interest are two senators to them?" She smiled as she stepped out of the opened door and smoothed her fingertips over her gown absently. And with that, she started inside. There was already a table prepared with a white linen table cloth, crystal glasses and silverware. "Martinis." She murmured to the waiter droid that was standing there dutifully with a towel over his mechanical arm. "Two of them."

| A Theta-class T-2c shuttle had emerged out of hyperspace, along with a couple of Y-Wings as escorts. It was standard procedure for Mowgle government. Mowgle did not have a large military force, but simply a militia. However, Senator Fowlkes was someone important enough for them to lend a small escort that was to travel with him at all the time. In addition to that, there was a team of bodyguards inside the shuttle. Tremaine was the one flying the shuttle, much to the bodyguards' objection. The Senator likes to fly, because otherwise he would just be sitting on a chair, having nothing to do. He has been this way since he was a teenager. When he flies a ship, he would be able to stay relaxed. This is where his best thinking comes. Anyway, Coruscant was in sight. Yes, he had left his work in the Outer Rim because he had found out about the alleged affair between his wife and a good friend of his. However, he wasn't going to jump to any conclusions. That was simply because it came from the tabloids. Since he was a member of the Senate, the landing clearance was already transmitted so he can just get right to the landing. After a while of flying into the atmosphere, the Theta was being landed into a hangar bay specifically reserved for Mowgle government. The Y-Wings had landed left and right near the shuttle, just as the landing ramp clashed with the ground. The Senator, along with the team of bodyguards, walked down the ramp. They went ahead and got out of the hangar bay, getting on a couple of speeders. All of them, including the pilots, would set off for Tremaine's apartment where they would be waiting for Ilanah to come.

| "I'll have mine dry, with lemon," Fitzgerald hastened to add. True, he drank on occasion, but never much and, moreover, didn't much care for martinis (a fact that he wouldn't mention to Illanah, although the reluct expression on his face when he drank it might give him away). He smiled as he listened to her recount her birthday, and then as he remembered his own. Those were the good times—that is, as good as times could be under the Empire—before the subjugation of Ralltiir. "I don't remember, really," he confessed, "I was in school so, of course, I must have put down a whole bottle of Corellian whiskey; ended up in jail the next day, and my parents didn't even bail me out. Rightfully so, I think. It taught me not to take the brake off of the Dean's speeder ever again. Well, only once again, but they didn't catch us the second time." "As for the press," he said dismissively, "I don't mind them so much. I'm used to them writing silly things, although it's funny how circumstances change, isn't it? A few years ago, they were saying I was 'the most eligible bachelor in the galaxy.' Now it's stubborn this, and warmonger that. At least it's always entertaining. Thank you," he said to the droid as it returned with the drinks. The service was fast. He raised his glass, opened his mouth to speak but then closed it again, hesitating. "There isn't a lot to toast to these days, is there?" he asked, in a rare moment of realism from the Senator known usually as an optimist.

| "You were the most eligible bachelor...and you were always stubborn. People just never saw it until recently. Actually, it's not stubborn. You just are very vocal about what you believe in and there is absolutely nothing wrong with that. That is your job, after all, isn't it?" Ilanah mused as she toyed with the stem of the glass between her polished fingertips. She nodded her head in agreement with him regarding the toast. "I hate feeling so negative about it, but peace seems to be coming at a very odd price." She murmured before she took a sip of the beverage. "And I wish my sons did not have to see this, but at least Caden is in a good place and will be untouched by politics for the most part." She wasn't very sure of her statement regarding the academy, but she could hope at least. "Anyway...enough of this sullen and worry riddled talk." She paused, looking over the thin plasticiene menu. "I will have the ah...star fruit salad with poppy dressing...on the side." She glanced to Eli for a moment. Ilanah used to be all about bantha burgers with fries, ribs, and other such things, but these days anything green was her favorite.

| After a while of waiting at their place, the Senator had decided to take a trip to the apparent restaurant where both his wife and the former Chief of State was at for lunch. A couple of bodyguards would rush with Tremaine to his speeder outside the apartment, but the Senator waved them off. "This is personal. Don't worry, I'll be fine." He had told his bodyguards, as the speeder were already revved up by a third bodyguard bringing the speeder by when it was needed. He would get in the speeder and drove it off, away from his apartment. After some time of passing by other speeders in the traffic...and avoiding some paparazzi, he finally got to the supposedly restaurant. He hopped out of the speeder, and had tipped a valet to take his speeder to the nearby parking lot. The Senator walked into the restaurant and approached a man working in the restaurant about whether Senator Fitzgerald and his wife was inside the restaurant.

| He felt a rumbling in his stomach as he glanced over the menu. He'd forgotten to eat this morning, as usual. He might not have had lunch, either, if Ilanah hadn't pleasantly pulled him away from his schedule. He was busy, most of the time, and when he wasn't in the afternoons he usually jogged the Column Commons (without bodyguards, of course) which, he jested, was merely an attempt to escape reporters. Today, however, he was keenly aware of his hunger; the bantha burger with fries sounded fantastic. He ordered it. A moment of silence fell upon their table, as Fitzgerald glanced momentarily out the viewport at the stunning view of Coruscant outside. It occurred to him, then, that his current stay on the planet might be his last, depending on the election on Ralltiir—the last time he would see the glint of the sun on this austere skyline, the bustle of traffic, and the way everything seemed to shimmer at night (because of exhaust, mostly, but never mind that; it was beautiful). He glanced back to Lana and sighed, contently. He opened his mouth to speak, but was interrupted when the waiter returned to the table a moment later and told him there was an urgent call waiting for him. "Who is it?" he asked. "A Mr. Barnum, Senator," the droid answered in its characteristic monotone. Fitzgerald pressed his chair out from the table. "My campaign manager," he said to Ilanah, apologetically, "I don't want to answer, but he'll be mad if I don't. Will you excuse me for just a moment?" He stood, bowed his head respectfully to her, and straightened his suit jacket as he followed the droid toward the reception area. Lost in thought, he almost didn't notice Tremaine as he walked past, but placed his arm cordially on the man's shoulder as he did. "Hey, Tremaine," he said warmly, "haven't seen you since Morishim, old friend. Welcome back to Coruscant. I have to take a call, but Lana's just through there—I'll rejoin you in a moment." He nodded to him and hurried out of the room.
