WAREHOUSE//GRIMOIRE DISTRICT // DANTOOINE // RAIBALLO SECTOR

Glancing haphazardly to his left, Zeril carefully placed the cigarette between his lips, inhaling a generous amount and contemplating on the proposal. Since the Hutt had taken over most of Dantooine, ending the longstanding feud that had embroiled itself between Tank and the Hutts, the Therixi Syndicate had little to no stake within Dantooine’s every diminishing market. The fact that the slimey Hutt happened to operate most of the spice lanes around the planet and controlled most of the security within the planet did little to help the Syndicate, and Zeril had long since abandoned any illegal activities on the planet. Still, it made for a unique place to discuss business, considering the planet was as downtrodden as could be found anywhere in the galaxy—except perhaps Leirooine.

“So you understand the proposal then?” Zeril asked, sliding the piece of paper across the table to his informant. It was a simple deal, meant to distract some of the lower Coruscanti customs officers from the latest shipment of materials to arrive in system. With the swoop gangs and problems in the Lower City of Coruscant, bribing officers was almost an everyday occurrence.

It had been nine years now, that the Aduban Pirates had expanded, grown, and becoming their own power. With three planets, and the protection of the Hutts, Zeril’s empire had flourished, matching the might of most other criminal elements in operation during this age. Snapping back to attention, he took another puff from his cigarette, allowing the pilot to review the contents of the supposed shipment, and where the exchange was supposed to take place. A grin spread over the Pirates face, mentally reviewing what the pilot would be reading:

The Basics is this:
Product is to be picked up in system around Tatooine, coordinates xxx-xxx-xx-xxx-xx has been provided, but you’ll move to coordinates xx-xxx-xxxxx-xxx-x when in system. Once the materials are transferred, it’s a short jump to Andooweel where you’ll be transferring to a new ship, and half the cargo will be deposited. You don’t need to know the specifics about where that cargo is going, but the next destination is coordinates xx-xxx-xxxxx-xx-xx-x in the Vusza System for refuel and the next ship. New cargo will already be waiting for you in the ship, and then you’re off to coordinates xxx-xxxx-xx-xxx-x-x-x-xx in the Aleen System then it’s Coruscant.

You know the bay, and the landing strip, and the clearance cards will be on the second ship. If found, the cargo is time sensitive, and a detonator and escape pod are provided on the second ship should you need to make an escape. I recommend using this as a last resort, but the material must not fall into competitor hands. This holopad will erase in 5......4.......3......2.......1

“Don’t worry, the navicomputer already has the locations preprogrammed, you just need to remember which system goes first. I heard you were one of the best, that’s why you’ve been selected for this assignment.”

“Well, it’s certainly well written, though I must admit that I’m more a boy used to lace and liquorice than being told I have four different dates with girls that want nothing to do with me. Last I checked Tatooine and Andooweel were tramps that didn’t deserve a second glance. It’s a big project you have going, especially if I’m distributing to at least three other middlemen, and taking a large portion of the cargo to Coruscant still. My oh my, your operation has grown quite a bit since the good old days hasn’t it Zeril?” With a wave of his hand, Jonus led the empty datapad fall back unto the table, dismissing any angry looks that the Piratelord would have mad. “No worries, I’ll happily accept the shipment, for the usual fee. Oh, and I want a hat... a really big one.”

Chuckling to himself, Jonus leaned back in his chair, feet up on the table, and hands rested behind his head. “It’s the usual fee as well, I won’t have none of this pitter-patter over the fee. It’s a standard 500,000 credits for each point, and 1.5 should just about cover all the expenses.”

CRYSTAL MOON//MOS ETHNA//TATOOINE//TATOO SYSTEM//ARKANIS SECTOR//OUTERRIM

“You have a knack for wanting to be shot,” Zeril commented, extinguishing the cigarette with his thumb and forefinger; squeezing it into the ashtray. His eyes lingered on the smouldering cigarette, thinking how easy it would be to have some of his thugs rough up the good pilot and make him more agreeable. Such a thing was not appreciated though, and Zeril doubted that there would be little love left for his organization if such a catastrophy were to occur. Instead, a simple game of haggling would lower the price, and keep Mr. Quin succeptible to delivering the goods. “It’ll be 25,000 per stop, that’s what I’m making.”

He had little time to argue with the man, but he wanted to get the negotiations out of the way, and get on with his business.

“Not good enough for so many stops. I’ll do it for 1 mil, final offer, but you’ll pay he an incentive bonus per ship, 250,000 should cover it.”

Jonus knew the offer wouldn’t stand, since the Piratelord was looking at an extra 250,000 charged to his account simply because he chose three ships. Still, even with the bonus scrapped, Jonus was looking at making some good money on this venture—provided he got through customs (the easy part) and survived the micro jumps in the Outer Rim. It wasn’t the jumps that bothered him, but whatever interdiction fields would be lying about from pirates, thieves, and of course—the law.

“1 Million, that’s it.” Zeril wasn’t pleased to be giving so much away, but the goods had to be delivered, and the money he made from their sale would be almost quadruple the cost per point. Still, he didn’t like losing so much money. Feeling anxiety overwhelm him momentarily, the good crimlord reached into his breastpocket and pulled out another cigarette. Carefully placing the butt to his lips, he lit it and inhaled, enjoying the fresh taste of tobacco and mellowing out.

“But if I find out the shipment disappeared, I’m going to be one angry man. You know there’s nowhere in the Outer Rim you can hide from me, and you just try and still in the Expansion or Inner territories.”

“You don’t have to tell me twice,” Jonus admitted, raising his hands defensively. “I’ll take 1 million, no questions.”

“Done.” Zeril shook the pilots hand, then bid him farewell, leaving through the reardoor and down the backalley, where four of his thugs awaited for him. Clothed in black pants, shirt, and jacket, they looked like the stereotypical goons—save that they lacked the sunglasses or rude faces. Instead, this batch were smiles and suspicion, like a copious looking group of people who were trying to go unnoticed, but away that they were failing.

Once back at the landing strip, Zeril glanced at his ship, a frown creasing his face. “See to it that a room is made available for me at the Hotel we passed, and see if you can find me some Twi’lek girls.” Smiling, two of the men left, the other two crowding in around Zeril as it issued another set of orders. “You two check out the city, meet the usual contacts and report back to me with what you’ve found. I haven’t been here in awhile, but I doubt this planets fallen asleep since I’ve been gone. Find out which of the others are in control of what districts of Mos Eisley, then come back.” Zeril dismissed his other men to board his ship, signalling the additional six men to grab the equipment and head to the hotel.
