Subject: Policy Document on New Republic/Remnant Peace Talks.

The New Republic wishes:

Form a de-militarised zone to be formed between the Remnant and New Republic.
To form a tribunal composed of 4 members (2 from each side) to rule only on breaches of the treaty (or DMZ if its formed).
Further progress towards abolition of slavery/abuse of aliens.
Guarantees for refugees who might return home to the Remnant that they will not be prosecuted for crimes during the war (unless they are simple criminal matters).

The New Republic is prepared to:
Allow the opening of an Imperial Embassy on Coruscant.
De-militarise worlds and regions of space, on a reciprocal basis with the Remnant.
Cut fleet numbers, on a reciprocal basis from the Remnant.
Allow Imperial cases to be prosecuted in NR Courts (on a reciprocal basis).
Allow observers in eachothers shipyards, again on a reciprocal basis.

Chief of State Gavrisom,

I thank you for providing me with the points that will be focused on at the peace talks. I would like to ask you, however, how much leeway we are allowing ourselves to give the Remnant? Sentient right violations might have diminished but are still rampant... The humanocentric views of the Empire still prevail in some of the diverse factions within that Remnant and it is clear that although some do want change, others are happy to perpetuate slavery and abuse.

Also, I would like clarification as to the “simple criminal matters” you refer for refugees. What is to be recognized as a simple matter?

As for the reciprocal points, how argumentative do you want us to be should they agree to some terms on the condition that their numbers be higher than ours? Should we push for equal numbers or drop the points entirely?

I would also like to enquire as to procedures for the talks. Is the New Republic providing us with transport and security or should I make arrangement for my own ship to be prepped? Are we aware of any possible disturbances that could hinder our progress?

I thank you for your time,

Adoven Ryner

Mr Ryner.

In all matters I urge you to use good judgement and discretion in order that you are able to determine what is in the best interests of the New Republic, be conciliatory, but do not roll over. Note that we wish to see progress towards the Empire becoming more egalitarian and expecting it immediately (while desirable) is unrealistic.

Reciprocity is defined as a reduction of 1 for 1.

The New Republic will provide you with escort and transport to the meeting.

Regards,

Ponc Gavrisom
Chief of State
