| Beings of the Senate, The Planet Dantooine has two pieces of Galactic History on its soil, the Jedi Enclave and the Rebel Alliance base. Both are currently lying in ruins, and while they are visited by many tourists, they lack the facilities that many elements of Galactic History have at their places of location. As such, I propose funding a visitor center at the Jedi Enclave, to include exhibits detailing the history of the Jedi of the Old Republic, and their place in Galactic History. On the site already is a monument bearing the names of the individuals from Dantooine who died in the Rebellion. Also, I propose re-constructing the Rebel Alliance base, and also opening a museum within its confines detailing those who died in the service of the Alliance. I also propose that both become added to the New Republic register of Federal Monuments, as they form an important part of our history.

| I thank the Administration for seeking to support my planets tourism sector, and also for paying respect to the heroes from Dantooine who fought in the cause of freedom. I vote in favour.

| Before I vote for this, shouldn't we consult with the Jedi on Yavin Four about this? Shouldn't it be their decision on what to do with the Jedi Enclave on Dantooine? What if they do decide to reopen it and have it become training grounds for the Jedi once again? I really do think we should give Master Skywalker a chance to speak on this matter. | Its my land. I don't see why the Jedi should have any say here.

| It may be your land, but the Jedi Enclave was part of the Old Jedi Order. The current Jedi may differ from the old ones, but they still are Jedi. The Enclave shouldn't be in jurisdiction of the New Republic, but rather the New Jedi Order. I am in favor of the Rebel Alliance base and the museum dedicated to the Alliance heroes, but I believe we should wait on the Jedi Enclave until the Jedi have a say on this. | This is not the Academy's land, and just because it was once owned (4,000 years ago) by a Jedi Order that resembled them and had a similar name does not give the Jedi, today, any consideration here whatsoever. The New Republic does not disregard its property laws, or any laws, whenever Mr. Skywakler asks it to, or whenever Mr. Skywalker's minions brandish their deathsabers at us in a manner both ominous and sanctimonious. This land, and the ruins of the Jedi Enclave, are the property of Mr. Tiure and he may do with it as he pleases. That is his right. I would point out, also, that Dantooine has been gracious to the Jedi for a decade now, inviting them, along with archeologists and historians, to study the ruins and the artifacts within. Most, if not all of these artifacts have been removed and are now in the Academy's possession. Now it's time to put this land to good use, for the benefit of the public. I vote in favor, Jedi be damned.

| It's brash to say that the Jedi do not deserve "any consideration here whatsoever." The Jedi Enclave is an artifact of a culture that today's Jedi consider themselves a part of. They do deserve some consideration, which I'm sure the Jedi are grateful has been shown to them by Dantooine for many years. I do vote in favor of the bill, however, as I believe declaring the site a Republic monument would indeed be beneficial to the public and, at the same time, does not preclude further study of the site especially now that it would become under the jurisdiction of the New Republic.

| As I'm aware, the Jedi at this time have no legal authority on a claim to the land, as they have not had a presence that I am aware of for over 3,700 years. My fine colleague, Senator Cambrist, makes a fine point along that line, despite its aggressiveness. I vote in favor.

| The Committee on Monuments Preservation and Promotion has studied the proposal and are in overwhelming support for it. The Committee endorses this legislation. On a personal level... I vote In Favor, and thank Senator Kruus for this fine motion.
