Lim Hejin was not a forgiving man. Nor was Atropos for that matter, and he'd not easily forgotten the dismissal Njon had given to him. The Hutt was quite unreasonable and, as such, Atropos intended to make him more compliant for their next meeting. To this end, as his forces were concentrated elsewhere, a lone man had been sent. Nal Hutta was far too obvious a place to go, and Atropos only wanted Njon's fringe holdings injured.

Sriluur, long a site of crime, especially among Black Sun and the Hutt Cartel, was the appointed place, especially as it had a station in orbit that the Hutts often used. It was a simple job to become a maintenance worker, one of likely dozens, who spent their lives for a pittance keeping the station fit and workable for the greedy slugs.

"Hey, you!" a Trandoshan foreman said to the spy, who had been laboring at the port at Sriluur for about a week now. So far, so good—although the Trandoshan's brusque tone of voice was enough to put anyone on edge. The spy probably wouldn't have seen this particular Trandoshan before, but this was not unusual; it was a large complex. In any case, he wore the badge of command that signified him as an officer of the Cartel although, as usual, the rank of this and other such beings wasn't quite clear. "Grab that crate, there, and come with me," the foreman told him, in Huttese. As soon as the spy leaned down to pick up the crate, however, the Trandoshan put a vibroblade into his spine. A few of the other laborers glanced in the direction of the commotion. "Back to work!" the foreman said, and it was so.

They didn't know, of course, that the man had been a spy for Drasek Cale. But Drasek Cale did not concern Njon. Malum the Hutt, his subordinate, did concern him. Make no mistake, he admired Malum's cunning and his ruthlessness, but he recognized, also, that these were traits that could potentially be used against Njon. He allowed Malum a fair amount of latitude to run the Periphery as he saw fit, but he could not risk a mutiny at the shipyard at Sriluur, and so he instructed his minions to keep an eye on all the new laborers at the port. No one seemed to know who this new man was, and no one was willing to vouch for him. And so, he was killed. Problem solved. Well, potential problem solved.

And so Drasek Cale would receive another lesson that politics in Hutt Space were considerably different from those on Baltimn.

where one man failed, a pair was likely to do better. when the lone spy did not report in, the worst was assumed. instead, a pair of mediocre bounty hunters were assigned there, though the request came through so many proxies that it would be impossible to track it back to atropos. the job was simple: keep an eye out for lucian alliance vessels while continuing their normal hunting jobs and they'd be paid well.

of course, any jobs that came from the hutts would be considered priority if offered, and the men came and went, usually only stopping over to fuel their ships, an ugly that was a pairing of an x-wing body to the trio of lambda shuttle wings, and a modified z-95. they paid the required tributes as well. it also helped that they mingled with the crowds.
