Description: Günther Lang is the Imperial commander of the so called "Task Force Gamma," a small fleet of warships dispatched by the Remnant to Companion Besh, an unexplored satellite galaxy, in search of aurodium deposits. When the task force hadn't returned several months past due, however, it was assumed lost with all hands, including Lang. In fact, Lang and his ships had become lost in a treacherous star cluster and return only now, in 20 ABY, to a galaxy that has immensely changed.
Personality: Lang is an intelligent man with an analytical mind, but is also impulsive. In battle, he will typically identify a broad range of options and strategies and instinctively undertake the one with the largest potential reward, with little or no regard for the dangers involved to him and his crew. He is fond of the maxim "Nothing ventured, nothing gained." In person, he comes across as self confident to the point of arrogance, and possesses a sharp, but often scathing wit. He distrusts most of his peers, but enjoys close relationships with the few he does trust and respect. Lang suspects, correctly, that he has been passed up for promotion because of personality conflicts with his superiors, and this has exacerbated what is likely a burgeoning persecution complex.
