Background
Every youngling remembers the kid in school who was always sickly. Runners of snot, a hacking cough that bespoke serious sickness and failing health. Such children were ostracized and often made fun of; unable to play sports and enjoy the life of a normal youngling. This was Voss' childhood growing up. A DNA defect 'gifted' him with a nearly non-0existant immune system and it seemed every sickness that came along struck Voss rather harshly. A strain of Dantari flu cost him the health of his lungs at the age of eight, resulting in the use of a permanent respirator mask for the rest of what seemed as if it would be a short, painful and rather unnatural life.
It isn't quite clear when Voss began manifesting an unconscious control of the Force, but at the age of twelve, Voss contracted Plyridian fever, which should have killed him. Instead, the doctors on Toprawa were greatly surprised when his body not only absorbed the virus, but kept it in its active stage, alive and well within his body yet not affecting him. It was chalked up as a miracle of sorts. Not long after this event, a passing Gray Jedi, wandering on his way to Wild Space, stopped on Toprawa. He was drawn to Voss and, after testing him, found him to be strong in the Force. Whether predetermined or by chance, Voss opted to go with the Jedi, learning philosophy and the ways of the Force. The philosophy was perhaps the more important, for it would take him to his later position in life.
From thirteen to nineteen, Voss stayed with the Gray Jedi. During this time, every sickness he fell ill with was absorbed by his body. It was during these years that Voss learned two things. The first was that beyond his own body, he could not project the Force. Techniques such as Force lightning, push and choke he could not even master. Indeed, if it was not directly affecting himself, he could not get it to work. Instead, it seemed that, using the Force, Voss could project the illnesses out of his body, effectively being a living biological weapon. It was this ability that, when in a fit of adolescent anger, caused him to have the means to strike down his master.
Wandering the galaxy, studying and learning as much as he could, Voss ran across Atropos and it seemed as if they were kindred spirits. Both radicals and idealists, they were nearly the perfect match; less apprentice and master than good friends. This brought Voss where he is today, acting as the hand of Atropos behind the scenes.
