To Ishii - A problem.

A close friend of a family member died during the psychopathic and downright evil experiments of Dr Shiro Ishii during world war II, experiments which make gas chambers look like a nice way to go, after he'd first been dissected alive.

Just as I don't think it's okay to create a roleplaying character who specializes in killing people with experiments called Dr Mengele, or a Dictator called Furher Hitler, I don't think it's tasteful or appropriate you're playing a character named after Shiro Ishii who is in exactly the same field.

Not meaning to bitch, but can you please change it? My stomach turns each time I see the name. Maybe you should examine some of the photographic evidence amassed for his complete disregard for human decency and utter lack of compassion for his fellow creatures, then perhaps you'd not think it was a funny name to play around with.

Sorry again. I sound like a dick but I find the name distresses me and I'd really like to see it changed, even just respelled.

And maybe you should have the simple respect to not immediately assume that I have no idea who Dr. Ishii was or what he and his unit did. I have done my fair share of research on him and I know full well what he did. I can understand how someone claiming to have "a close friend of a family member" that died etc etc is going to feel, but dont immediately assume that I know nothing of the man whom this character is based upon, or what he did. If you wanted to claim it "distresses" you each time you see the name, then fine. I'll change the name if only to keep you off of my back so I might be able to enjoy my time here.

I sincerely appreciate it, and I don't mean any offense or bad blood to you in my statement and request, and I mean that. I also didn't assume you lacked knowledge of that thing's experiments - just thought you might have a little misplaced enthusiasm or be making a joke which tasted a bit bitter to me - and I don't think it was malicious or with malice aforethought.

I'm all in favour of mad scientists or even evil ones - I just think basing a character too closely on a real life man who was not a merchant of death, but a merchant of unspeakable suffering and real human misery as well as death is perhaps not quite the best course of action.

That said it is good to see more scientists in the roleplay - developing innovative new technologies and weapons! That said biological weapons (aside from maybe poisoned bullets or something) probably are going to be difficult for you to get approved by management (the policy has usually been in the past to prohibit them), that said I am convinced you can develop innovations that will be interesting, fun and get approved.
