Droid Revolt Crushed

IMPERIAL CENTER, IMPERIAL SECTOR - During a time that should be focused on celebration, terror reigned; yesterday, the droid populace of Imperial Center revolted against the Empire. In the early morning hours, several Coruscant Security Forces droid officers and police cruisers went rogue and began indiscriminately attacking biological beings. Following this, several EVS Construction Droids, in use to complete repairs to Imperial City from the Clone Wars, went rogue as well, and began to demolish the city.

Targets appeared to be primarily focused on the Senate, government buildings, spaceports and military-industrial facilities. Coordination of military forces in response to the crisis was complicated by a virus which effected military communication channels and civilian communication channels becoming overwhelmed by comm traffic. The challenges involved in deployment were eventually overcome by the Imperial Center Sector Army and Imperial Sector Army, who provided defensive operations across the city. Most of the offensive movements were conducted by several legions of Stormtroopers on the capital and, in a surprisingly public deployment, the Imperial Army's 1st Special Forces Group. Also in deployment was the Imperial Army's experimental D Company of the 1st Battalion, 5th Special Forces Group.

It was the Army's experimental unit that stole the spotlight of the Military's heroic defense of the capital. Led by Captain Orion Karath, the unit was able to storm the Senate Building and rescue the surviving delegates and their staff of those that remained in the Senate Building, Ilanah Thanatos (S-Chandrila) and Lomen Ryuun (S-Druckenwell and the Doldur Sector). En route to evacuating the Senators and their staff to the fortified Senate Apartment Complex, their transport was shot down, being forced to fight their way to the complex. On their way, Captain Karath, unbelievably, single-handedly took down an EVS Construction Droid, and delivered the Senators relatively safely. Regrettably, many Senators, Representatives, and Ambassadors who were on world lost their lives, although ultimately the lost were of a very small portion of the Senate. Most notably among the deceased was Ronsard Entrente (S-Commenor), a rising star in galactic politics and member of the Commerce Committee; he was 42.

Captain Karath later led the Army's assault on Archa Sabis' skyhook. The Imperial Navy, conducting war games behind Centax-1, and led by General Daxier Horrace and Captain Augustus Valerian, responded by surrounding the skyhook as Imperial Commandos stormed the veritable fortress. Following a three hour long firefight, Archa Sabis, the crazed cyborg terrorist behind this atrocity, laid dead at the feet of Imperial Commandos. Reports say that Imperial forces gathered intel on how Sabis achieved this feat, and any support he may have received, before the Imperial Navy destroyed the skyhook.

The crisis as a whole lasted only fifteen hours, but it is estimated 5,000 - 10,000 lives were lost in the crisis, however the death toll is currently an early estimate and not officially certified. On the eve of the ninth anniversary of the formation of the Galactic Empire, it is perhaps, ultimately, fitting that we are presented with a reminder of why the Empire is need. The menace of uncontrolled droids and cyborgs is obvious to even the most simple of beings, and new restrictions are most likely to come with the next Senate session, following the longest session recorded since before the Ruusan Reforms. There has been no word yet from the Imperial government on recent events, but Empire Day celebrations are expected to occur on schedule.

The Imperial News Network will continue to follow this story as it develops.
