Fowlkes Alive? INN Story Not Credible

Column Commons, Coruscant — The Imperial News Network's article on the presumed death of Telosian senator Tremaine Fowlkes, based on second-hand reporting and a single, anonymous source, is not a reliable telling of the facts. New information uncovered by The Coruscant Journal calls into question the INN's version of events and whether the Senator is truly dead, as reported.

The INN article reported on the testimony of a witness who claimed to see a drunken Senator Fowlkes on a balcony of the Telosian embassy in a verbal spar with a Thakwaash prostitute when she and the Senator fell from the building to their presumed deaths. This witness is never identified, nor his or her credibility attested to. (Moreover, what reason is there to assume the Thakwaash a prostitute?) And despite the event supposedly occurring on an open balcony on Imperial Center, no other credible witnesses have come forward—and no calls to police about two beings falling hundreds of floors, past thousands of windows.

The Coruscant Journal interviewed Ms. Jalaila Kelrune, the Senator's fiancee, who cast doubts on INN's reporting. Asked if the Senator had made use of prostitutes in the past, Kelrune said "absolutely not. Tremaine Fowlkes would have never visited a prostitute." And moreover, "I never saw him drink aside from socially, and even then it was only one." None of the Senator's friends or colleagues that The Coruscant Journal spoke to recalled the Senator ever drinking in excess.

Senator Fowlkes is, at least, missing. Neither Ms. Kelrune nor the Senator's colleagues on Coruscant or Telos IV know where he is. There have been a number of unconfirmed sightings, however. One witness account places Senator Fowlkes on Chandrila on the night of his supposed death, while another has reported a man resembling Fowlkes as far as the Outer Rim world of Dantooine. While these witness accounts aren't reliable, they are reason enough to question the INN's reporting on the Senator's death. That, and the fact that neither the Senator's body nor the Thakwaash prostitute's were ever recovered.

The Coruscant Journal, in the spirit of seeking and speaking the truth, calls for more scrutiny of the Imperial News Network's account of this alleged event and a renewed search for Senator Tremaine Fowlkes.
