A year after the death of his beloved wife, Lucinda, gray Farris gave Daneira to the care of the Jedi Order. Lucinda and Gray had noticed a certain talent in their daughter, but Lucinda had insisted the girl not be sent to learn the Jedi way. Daneira was her only child, and she wanted to keep her close.
Lucinda's health declined, rapidly, and eventually led to her death only a few short years later, their time cut short. At that time, Gray Farris made the decision that Dani (who was starting to look exactly like her beautiful Hapan mother), would be better off training with the Jedi.
After he left the temple, Gray was never heard from again. Years later, however, Dani found his name on a list of men who had died during the clone wars. He had no family listed, and no one to claim him, so his body was cremated.
36 BBY- Karth
A thunk, followed by the clattering of a datapad to permacrete floor echoed through the corridor of the Jedi academy. Despite the training that the younglings and padawans were receiving there, kids were still cruel, and especially so to a new girl. For the second time that day, Dani pulled herself from the floor and dusted her robes off before she reached to retrieve her datapad. This time, she was tripped. Last time, she had been pushed. It varied from day to day the short time she had been there.
As she leaned down to get the datapad, she noticed a hand was already wrapped around it. Karth. They were fast friends and he was always there for her through everything, and vice versa, until they were separated and started training with their masters.
28 BBY- Atrya
Daneira was assigned to Master Atrya Mariani and departed with her for further training on the outer rim. Atrya was hard on her, but fair. Dani learned quickly and Atrya praised that, but Dani still felt that her best was not quite good enough. She always desired to be the best that she could.
She excelled in her ability to manipulate the Force, and her use of a lightsaber. She was generally very levelheaded and could anticipate much in advance, but every so often her emotions would spike and her hold on the Force could easily spiral out of control. Atrya worked on this with her tirelessly through meditation and other exercises.

It was an ambush.
There were too many droids, Atrya and Dani had no choice but to give up and relinquish their weapons. The two of them had no chance, and no chance of escape, it seemed. Once in captivity, the Chancellor Gratus revealed himself and the only thing the pair overheard was that he had something planned for the Jedi. They had no idea what. At that point, Atrya created a distraction in attempt to escape and Dani was able to get her lightsaber in her grasp.
"Daneira, go!"
"I am not leaving you here!"
"I am telling you, as your Master and friend, GO!"
23 BBY- 2 months later
It had been reported to the Jedi Order that Daneira was killed by mistake in a firefight. In truth, Atrya was forced to send the holo, since Dani had escaped, so that no one would come looking for them.
Dani hadn't, since that day, been able to pinpoint where Atrya was because they kept moving her, but she could find Gratus. He was a public official, and therefore an easy target. She stowed away on a cargo ship and onto his homeworld. The afternoon of one of his public speeches, Dani attempted to assassinate him (with a blaster from a distance), but her shot was blocked by the humming azure blade of a Jedi lightsaber.
Karth.
She was shocked only for a moment when she immediately recognized the man she had not seen in five years. Being the kind of man he was, Karth started in pursuit of the would-be assassin. Dani ran and went into hiding for a little over two weeks until he caught up with her on Belassa.
