Background

Trent began his life as an only child on Corellia with both his mother and father. His father, an ambitious entrepreneur running a shipping contracting company he built from the ground up, and his mother, the banker, who assisted in the financial organization and expansion of the aforementioned company were more often away on work than home and, as such, Trent became self sufficient at a very early age. Though he had no remarkable skills in the early stages of his life, he showed much ambition—like his father—and quickly followed in his parents footsteps with the company, working as a stocker at the docks for several years. It did not take him long to graduate to the rank of pilot in one of the company's numerous transport vessels.

Around the age of 26, whilst Trent was settling in to the role of Captain aboard his own freighter designated AS-0049—a freighter used and fitted (or, rather, armed) exclusively for high priority cargo, namely weaponry—he began to take a liking to firearms, specifically those of the blaster pistol varient. Trent was never much for violence; he was, first and foremost, a logical and diplomatic man but, as it turned out, he seemed to harbor an aptitude for it. He spent many a night shooting empty canisters and various other miscellanea off crates in the stock hold with his crew and, of course, there were the occasions where they encountered pirates and thieves.

He quickly became popular among the company’s fleet for being adroit with his pistol, and numerous inter-ship contests were held, of which Trent was always the victor. Whenever they landed on a planet for loading, unloading, stocking or even refueling, Trent took the opportunity to try and attend any competitions—whether back alley type situations or more formal, public events—he could find. He saw relative success, and were he not to inherit the company from his father would probably have gone on to join the military or perhaps roamed the galaxy testing his skills against others; but alas, his father was nearing the age of retirement and he could not abandon his responsibility. And besides, he rather enjoyed piloting and was excited to take over the operation.

And that age came for his father; Trent, now 30, gladly inherited the role of President. While his mother and father still had ties to the company, it was entirely under his control. His parents took their life savings and left him to run the company while they lived their days out exploring the galaxy. Though they remain in touch, contact is only established in necessity, as for guidance and opinions on business. He is still getting acclimated to the role, but the company is thriving and perhaps doing better in his hands than his parents’.

Likely one of the biggest contributing factors to the modern success of the company is the fact that Trent takes almost no profit for himself; instead, he funnels all of his would-be revenue back in to the company to increase the size of their fleet, provide upgrades, cover the cost of repairs, etc. In fact, Trent tries to supports himself by attending the occasional marksmanship tournament and by every so often transporting some “legally delicate” items.

Despite its successes, the company is seeing some hardships; between the corrupt officials controlling trade and the Imperials constantly infringing on his shipping and taking or doing what they please, Arenholdt Shipping Inc. and co. are finding it to difficult to maintain their neutrality in the galaxy. Trent has no intention—presently—to sacrifice his livelihood and passion in the name of rebellion, but he is beginning to see the tides shifting and is contemplating on what his and his company’s position will be when the proverbial bantha crap hits the fan.
