Background:
Malachi Stern was born to a wealthy and influential noble family on Anaxes whose family owned the GasWorld Corporation. During the course of the Clone Wars, Stern attended prestigious command schools and entered the Republic Army as a Lieutenant in the infantry. Working alongside clone troopers and normal humans, Stern's ingenuity and tactical prowess, not to mention what some saw as an insane wish to lead from the front, earned him a number of battlefield promotions, halting finally at major. Though offered the chance to advance to colonel, Stern turned it down in favor of remaining with his men. When the Clone Wars ended, a majority of survivors of his unit returned with him to Anaxes to work within a small private security company Stern founded. When his father passed on, he inherited the family wealth and title, continuing the business.
