It is a rarity to find a Force-adept in most younglings, even in this day and age. It was be even more rare to find parents who are willing to give their children over to the Jedi Order for training. In the case of the Riallo family, born and raised on Coruscant for six generations, it was a match made in heaven, at least for the Order. Born on the same day and hardly ten minutes apart, Phaedra and Jonas were meant to be together from the very beginning. Both exhibited the potential to be apt Jedi and both were selected for testing by the Order at a young age. Having parents who believed in the Republic and its tenets of justice and freedom helped, of course. As young converts to the Jedi, the twins finally disagreed on something: the path of a Jedi. Jonas was far more headstrong and quicker to jump into battle than his sister. The choice of a Jedi Guardian was his path and to it he devoted himself. Oddly enough, bladed weapons drew his attention more than the lightsaber, something that exasperated his teachers but a liking he could not be weaned of. A gifted bladesman, Jonas was an oddity who preferred a sword to a lightsaber, but was quite proficient with both.
Unlike Jonas, Phaedra chose the Force over the standard tools of a Jedi. Proficient in public speaking and debate, a consular was the path she chose. To her though, the lightsaber was a barbaric tool, only useful when all else had failed. This, many speculated, was what changed her mind when it came time to pick a weapon of choice. The modified blaster rifle she carries is no simple weapon. Through the Force, Phaedra demonstrated an ability to have uncanny accuracy, proven on one mission to surgically remove the hand of an assailant with accurate fire. Some said that the blade on the end is for bloodthirsty aims, but the blade has saved her life on occasion. It is her gift with words and command of the Force that keep her safe in times of trouble more than anything.
Part of the few Jedi who managed to escape with a small group intact, their trained persisted for some years after the Purge and the end of the Clone Wars, allowing them to become fully-fledged Jedi Knights in a world where training was often more on-the-job and far less allowing for mistakes than the Jedi Temple had been. When their group finally fractured and dispersed, both from deaths and Jedi wishing to simply hide, Jonas and Phaedra stood together to continue the work they'd been raised to perform.
