Name: Vespasian Boldt, Sr.
Born: 66 BBY (Age 57, as of 9 BBY)
Species: Human
Homeworld: Alderaan

Affiliation: The Galactic Empire
Title/Rank: Governor of the Yminis Sector

Background: Vespasian Boldt was a pariah from birth. His mother, a member of the Alde family—the oldest noble house of the planet Alderaan, obsessed with maintaining the purity of its noble blood—married outside of the family, for love. Neither her husband nor her son, Vespasian, were respected as "true" members of the Alde family, though Vespasian was raised as an Alderaanian noble and inherited his family's notorious pride and, some would say, pomposity.

But with no place for him in his house and nothing handed to him in life, Vespasian cultivated a strong work ethic and excelled in his studies. With few opportunities on his homeworld, he resolved at a young age to make his career in the Republic Navy. By the time of the Clone Wars, Vespasian, then 40, held the rank of Commodore and was one of the most experienced Human officers in the starfleet, having served commendably in counter-piracy and antebellum counter-separatist actions in the Videnda and Trans-Nebular Sectors and the Periphery. However, the Navy in those days was not as respected an institution as it would later become in the Clone Wars, and Boldt's success garnered little or no attention from the public or from his Core-centric superiors, though it did win him the admiration of junior officers throughout the Navy.

Boldt had suspected that war was on the way, and the Battle of Geonosis proved his suspicions correct (though his prediction of a swift and successful campaign against the Separatists proved incorrect, as neither he nor anyone else had anticipated the strength of the Separatist forces or the dramatic ways that clones would change how the Republic waged war).

He also hadn't anticipated the savagery of the Clone Wars, on both sides. Though he emerged from the conflict renowned for the victories he'd won, he was also a changed man, tired of war. This led him, like many, to be a fervent supporter of the Empire and its promises of peace. Boldt was rewarded for his support with appointments as the Military Governor of several re-captured Separatist worlds—his talent for getting the right people (and ships) to the right places at the right moments proved useful as an administrator.

But while he was able in war and considered an able administrator too, he was inept at politics. His inpolitic remarks about his superiors—and clumsy remarks in 18 BBY praising certain alien species, namely Wookiees, for their combat prowess—stalled his career. When he was promoted to Moff in 17 BBY, it was not to the Alderaan Sector as he'd hoped, but the distant, strategically insignificant, and Hutt-infested Yminis Sector. He has remained there ever since, a moderate Moff who says nothing about his growing dismay at the Empire's acts of genocide.

He is married to an heiress from Rendili who lives on her homeworld, though he's carried on a secret, years-long affair with a Morganian woman named Sena. He has a son who is a traveling painter of landscapes and resides with his father on Hrill, the capital world of the Yminis Sector. Boldt has a passion for music and is an unapologetic patron of alien composers whose work are considered "repugnant" in the Core Worlds.
