*a tall, well built man with brown hair and brown eyes enters the Senate Rotunda from a visitor's hovercraft, there are gray streaks in his brown hair, and an aged, worn expression in his eyes as he surveys the now Imperial Senate, his thoughts are already filled with the futility of this diplomatic mission, Commenor was never conquered outright by the Empire, but, through economic warfare and diplomatic pressures, Commenor's former robust ship-building industry and trade guilds were brought to their knees by the Imperial conquests all around them in the Colonies. It was a painful realization for his Prime Minister and ruling council that it had come to this. He swallowed his pride and moved to address the once great and powerful Senate*

Speaker Pestage, Senators, I come to you on behalf of the federation of Commenor and its Prime Minister,

Firstly, I would formally beseech this Body to forgive any past transgressions Commenor inflicted upon the truly Galactic Empire. We fully admit we were in the wrong during our open rebellion against Emperor Palpatine. We approve his legitimate claim as first Emperor of the Galactic Empire.

Given these facts, Commenor comes to this Body with open arms and in a spirit of reconciliation. We formally request representation in this august Body and full Imperial rights and priviledges for the Commenor people.

*he sits down then, inwardly disgusted with his mewling, but knowing it is the only choice he has to keep his people from starving from the boycotts and embargoes by the Imperial Navy, he knew if he did not proclaim the Emperor as the rightful ruler of the Galaxy, he would be the victim of an assassin's laser and an even weaker pawn of the Empire would be installed in his place, he awaits the debate by bracing his hands against the hovercraft's plush armrests*

Ronsard Entrente
Head of Commenor Delegation

Ronsard Entrente

Senator of Commenor
Ranking Member, Commerce Committee

Glad to see the Senators from Garos IV and Volus offering their traditional rhetorical flare in their explanation of their reasoning before voting.

Tell me, Mr Entrente, what is the status of your world's rebellion against its lawful master?

I would vote in favor of accepting Commenor into the Senate, providing Commenor offers something to the Empire as a show of good faith and its willingness to help the good people within the Empire.

I agree with Senator Ryuun and indeed, Senator Ordan's questions. Perhaps if Commenor were willing to immediately adopt the Capital Vessel's Act and accept, say, a 5% tax on its goods for the next three years? I believe this is a fair gesture of willingness to join the Empire.

I am also not as incurious about Mr. Entrente and the Commenor delegation as are some of my colleagues. Among these, however, I do not include Senator Ordan, Senator Ryuun, and Senator Domon, who have raised good questions. I, too, will be interested to hear Mr. Entrente's answer to these, however I have another question to ask of him on a subject that has long been important to me; namely, the Jedi. I'm sure Mr. Entrente agrees with me that the Jedi are (let us say were, and good riddance) an unscrupulous order of malevolent, murderous monks, as ambitious as they are arrogant. Will Mr. Entrente agree with me, however, that the Jedi are a repugnant, yes, but also an inevitable result of surrounding a simple, scientific phenomena with religious symbols and superstitions? And would he agree with me that the Empire's official policy of state atheism is the surest remedy for this?

What is to say we should not just round up the Commenor government have them all executed for treason? It would fix the issue of distrust and allow actual loyal citizens to rise to prominence rather than opportunists. That would also be irrational, as I also believe realizing the error of your ways should be rewarded, not punished, where it can be helped at least. I do believe however, following this intense questioning that is about to occur for you, that all members of your government, including yourself, should be subject to screening by the ISB and required to take courses from COMPNOR's education assets, to begin with. I would also agree with Senator Domon's stipulation.

For my opening question, I'd like to ask you... what can Commenor, in its current standing, contribute to the Empire? What do you believe Commenor can do to make up for its treason? As an aside, you bear a striking resemblance to recently ousted former Representative Crion. I am curious on this peculiar matter, and believe that we may need to do a thorough screening of you to ensure this isn't an attempt by Crion to illegally re-enter the Senate.

*stands slowly, his worn-out and weathered eyes barely hiding the inner fatigue and weariness he felt with this whole process, he was getting too old for this charade..*

After consulting with my Prime Minister and ruling council, we would gladly impose the 5% tariff on our exports and adopt the Capital Vessels Act, and all Imperial legislation for that matter, as part of our transition into the Empire. As a token of our gratitude, we will also open up our ship-building capacity for Imperial Navy orders and our extensive R&D base for new technologies for capital ships and fighters alike.

As for our official stance on the Jedi, Commenor renounces the Jedi as a legitimate religious sect and conforms with the Emperor's religious accords and edicts on the issue of unsanctioned religions.

Rest assured, Senator Ordan, our anti-imperalist faction is thoroughly cowed and its leaders are on their way to the spice mines of Kessel for a lifetime of manual labor.

*eyes the Senator of Deralia warily, already knowing this one will be a thorn in his side*

And does the Senator of Deralia fear Commenor's competition for Imperial Naval shipbuilding contracts? Commenor engineers and technicians developed key turbolaser technologies that were used in the first star destroyer prototypes. They have also produced designs for a new and improved deflector shield to ensure safe passage of capital ships through high-density asteroid fields. We bring many potential technological improvements and an entire system's worth of shipbuilding capacity ready and willing to be used for the construction of the new series of Imperial class star destroyers. This potential gain for the Empire should not be taken lightly. *gives Senator Veritas a withering glare*

Commenor's delegation is ready and willing to take any tests the Senate requires to prove our loyalty to Emperor Palpatine and his mighty Empire.

*stands down in deference to the questioning senators, he fully realizes now that this is not his father's Senate anymore*

I have a question for Mr. Entrente...

What has your government set up in place in the event that another uprising should take place, causing your planet to take up arms against the Empire?

Senator Ray, thank you for asking that most important question that goes to the heart of the renewed stability and security of Commenor following its lengthy civil war. Our security police has been at the forefront of promoting pro-Imperial sentiments with the people. Since most of the unrest came from our universities, each state university is now equipped with a guard of propaganda police to correct any wayward sentiments towards the Emperor and his great Empire. On a larger scale, we have reformed our state media outlets to increase collaboration with our state security wings to improve and streamline information going to our general populace. In addition, the penalties for civil infractions against the Prime Minister's Union party have been increased dramatically to come up to code with comparable punishments for treason and sedition at the Imperial level. Indeed, Senator, our acts of sedition and espionage now rank in the top twenty across the Empire for their strictness and potency. I come before you with a unified Commenor government behind me, one that will not be hobbled with the limp of insurrection and rebellion.

If there are no further questions, I will now administer the oath of office. Mr. Entrente, if you will repeat after me, please.

"I, (state your name), do solemnly swear, under penalty of treason, that I will represent the people of (state your constituency) to the best of my ability, that I will bear true allegiance to the Empire, its Emperor, and its policies, that I will uphold and abide the Imperial Charter, that I will preserve and protect the principles of the New Order, and that I will defend all of these from all enemies of the Empire, both foreign and domestic. So help me."
