Dantooine stands firmly against such a motion on investigating worlds. A planet's past is no reason to start pointing fingers and attempt to run investigations. If that is the case, we might as well target Sluis Van because the Senator is not only an alien species, but because their planet's primary race is not human.

I fail to see the basis for your comments, Senator Ray.

I won't use the word 'target' in my response, as you chose to do, because it conveys the misguided idea that I'm attempting to victimise, which I'm not. No, the reason Vjun has been selected as the focus of this proposal has nothing to do with race or culture, but of potential threat. How many times must I outline the very real possibility that enemies of the Empire may be hiding beneath the notice of those on Vjun, and that those subjected to the planet's temperement may have been effected by an illness which is beyond their control or ability to recognise?

Damn me for trying to protect our good Empire, Senator Ray, but don't try and twist my words into some scheme of victimisation and subjugation.

Furthermore, owing to the sensitive nature of this motion, I ask that we defer to the chair to determine whether, in his qualified opinion, he thinks it wise to allow Senator Oriel or Senator Ordan to vote or comment upon this issue? I ask only because if they have, indeed, been compromised by forces beyond their recognition or control, then their points here may be invalid or misleading. And before I am assailed with comments of segregation or further accusations of victimisation, I once again do this in the name of security.

As I'm sure the Senate will understand, I am limited in what I may disclose about Imperial military and, if you will, "extra-military" operations on Vjun. Suffice to say, Senator Oriel is correct that Lord Vader and certain officials of Imperial Intelligence have a personal interest on the planet, and these individuals, I'm sure we can agree, would be quite able to ascertain whether anything was amiss there of the sort that Senator Lohden is right to fear. I can assure her that as of now, to my knowledge, they have indeed not ascertained anything of this sort. Vjun, I am reliably told, is an uncommonly safe and secure world as far as the possibility of a Jedi or "Force" insurgency is concerned. I'm afraid I am not at liberty to say much more than this, but I hope this is enough to reassure Senator Lohden.

With the infinite wisdom of the Grand Vizier behind this vote, I am now officially closing this discussion.

I formally apologise to Senator Oriel for theoretical allegations made. Rest assured I will be keeping personal vigil over any and all systems that bring reason to believe they may be harbouring illicit individuals, or dangerous elements, though in future I shall not deign to interfere with Imperial Intelligence's affairs on the matter.
