I fail to see the basis for your comments, Senator Ray. I won't use the word 'target' in my response, as you chose to do, because it conveys the misguided idea that I'm attempting to victimise, which I'm not. No, the reason Vjun has been selected as the focus of this proposal has nothing to do with race or culture, but of potential threat. How many times must I outline the very real possibility that enemies of the Empire may be hiding beneath the notice of those on Vjun, and that those subjected to the planet's temperement may have been effected by an illness which is beyond their control or ability to recognise?
Damn me for trying to protect our good Empire, Senator Ray, but don't try and twist my words into some scheme of victimisation and subjugation.
Furthermore, owing to the sensitive nature of this motion, I ask that we defer to the chair to determine whether, in his qualified opinion, he thinks it wise to allow Senator Oriel or Senator Ordan to vote or comment upon this issue? I ask only because if they have, indeed, been compromised by forces beyond their recognition or control, then their points here may be invalid or misleading. And before I am assailed with comments of segregation or further accusations of victimisation, I once again do this in the name of security.
