Anobis's request to join the senate

| -A rather young man, whom was well dressed for the occasion was sitting in a hovercraft, inside the senate's Rotunda. His hair pulled back into a pony-tail, he didn't want his hair, which would look more like an explosion had happened near him. He had messy hair, when it wasn't under control. But thankfully for the occasion it was. He fixed his glasses, brushed off his black tuxedo and examined it. He had no intention on getting involved with politics, but with his father deathly Ill, it was up to him to take control of the planet, and it's inhabitants, so he moved on to address the senate..- "Good day Speaker Pestage, other members of the body. I am Fabio Riada, Son of King Raynar Riada, King of Anobis. I know our planet hasn't been heard of in some time, I am here to explain why, and try to get my planet into the body. My father has fallen deathly Ill, the best medical mind's on Anobis are working hard on a cure for what ail's him, but to no avail. My father's adviser was to take up the position I am about to ask for, but during an inspection of a new medical facility, the building collapsed, his body was never found." - He would pause briefly before tugging at his tie, and shrugging his shoulders.- "With my father ill, his adviser dead. It falls upon me to take care of the planet. The planet Anobis pledges it's allegiance to the senate, and everything else it stand's for... Sorry I'm a bit new at this but I've watched my father for over 25 years, I promise to be exactly as my father was. I invite all senator's, and you, speaker Pestage to come view our lovely planet, coincidentally located in the mid rim, you will be welcomed with kind faces, and treated like king and queens. And perhaps meet my revered father, before his untimely end." -He then sat down, placing his face within his hands, rubbing his eyes.-

| I believe you mean "Anobis pledges its allegiance to the Empire, and everything else it stands for" rather than the Senate. The Senate is merely the Empire's organ of legislation, and not the Empire itself.

| "Volus would like to welcome another person into the Senate and hope that you may represent the will of your people. I vote in favor of allowing him into the senate and would like to see him allowed in without stipulation as it should be.

| It is unfortunate to hear of your father, and of the untimely accident which prevented that aide from coming before us, sending you in his stead, Mr Riada. However, as your Father wished to bring Anobis into the folds of the Empire, I see little reason why you doing the same should cast any doubts. I am wondering though, whether Anobis's medical facilities could augment our own, perhaps allowing both to benefit from previously unknown practices. Just a thought. No, my only question to you remains the same as Senator Ray's; what can you provide the Galactic Empire, what can the Galactic Empire provide you, and how will both benefit from your appointment here?

| I apologize, Senator Ordan.... Speaking of my father gets to me. And as for your question, Senator Ray, And Senator Lohden. My planet is a mining planet, I've spent a couple of years in the mines my self, under my fathers wishes that I learn some work ethic. So I know how hard it is for the simplest man to make simple credits. I will also bring the knowledge that my father has shared with me, years of making the best decisions for billions of people. And I-I know I may seem a bit... different to everyone here. But don't let my appearance discourage you all, I promised my father I will see our planet into the senate, and I am willing to do what it takes, and as for your question, Senator Cambrist, this is how my planet's male inhabitants look. As stated before, do not let the look discourage you.

| I have a question for you Prince. I know very little of Anobis, especially aobut its social structure and gender roles. Do females have same the rights as males? Are they seen as inferior or equals? What is the earnings gap between males and females?

| There is no difference between male or females within our society. My mother, The queen ruled along side with my father until she died of cancer. So the answer would be yes. The Females on Anobis have the same rights as the males, this was established over 5,000 years ago. Actually, the dean of medicine for our planet is female, and my fathers adviser was female, whom as you know was to take up the Senator job.

| In that case, I do not oppose your admission to the Senate, Mr. Riada. However, not to belabor this point, but I suspect you'll find that you will be better received on Imperial Center if you adopt a Core Worlds manner of dress and presentation. Something to consider, I hope. With that said, I wish you success here and I bid you welcome.

I love make-overs and it will give us the perfect opportunity to get to better know each other. It will be fabulous, since many in this body feel that women are only good for gossip and shopping.

| In my own defense as well as in Mr. Riada's, I feel it must be said that there is nothing wrong with beards. However, I agree it wouldn't hurt to follow, say, the venerable Senator Ray's or my own example and cultivate yours a bit. At any rate, Mr. Riada, I welcome you to the Senate and I wish your father a swift recovery.

| I completely understand that my hair may be of some concern... so here's what I'll do. I'll trim the beard, and slick back the hair. I take after my father, and besides I cannot cut it off It's a family thing, all males in my family have had such facial hair. They make a coin with the princes face on it. It's a special currency given to the less fortunate. Grant's them food for an entire year, free of charge. Would you fine senator's be okay with that?
