No need to mock her, Senator Oriel. I distinctly heard her clear her throat for a moment. It could well be that bug that's going around. Either way, her speech is not anything to concern this Senate and I digress. Druckenwell, like Vjun, does not hold religious holidays, a belief that is well-put.

Representative, Monor II (10 BBY - 9 BBY)
Representative, Geridard
Representative, Boranall
Representative, Therenor Prime
Vice-chairman, Defense Committee (Temporarily suspended)

Quite right, Senator Ryuun. With all due respect to Senator Cerra, though, Senator Oriel is also quite right that an unwillingness to change one's opinion, much less one's vote, despite whatever facts may change or be brought to one's attention, is not something to be proud of. It is fortunate, I think, that the philosophy of "my vote is wrong, but it is my vote" is not a common one in this chamber. I can only say what I have said before, and what Senator Ryuun and Senator Oriel have reinforced, that there are few worlds that celebrate religious holidays. The fact that there are few, if any, religious holidays in the Core Worlds—the longest populated region of the galaxy, hearkening back to the days when religions were more common—is evidence of this.

But in any event, it does not have a bearing on the arguments that I have made which, I feel, speak for themselves (and, in some cases, speak for the Empire and its policies).

Chandrila will also vote in favor based on the aforementioned reasons listed by Senator Cambrist. There are, I am sure, other causes and needs to any funding that the Empire might put towards the support of this religious holiday. Separation of religion and state activities should be held true, across the board.

Senator of Chandrila

I am not saying I will not change my vote if the evidence or arguement is good enough. But no one has yet to have a valid argument that would sway my conscious to change my vote.

If the chair will permit, Senator Cerra, may I ask you a question simply to satisfy my own curiosity?

In case Senator Cerra was waiting for clarification from the chair, no, I do not oppose this.

Can the Senator imagine an argument that would convince her?

Oh I can imagine quite a few arguments that would convince me, but by now you must know that I am a strong supporter of planet's rights.

Thank you, Senator. I will not press the point any further. I do ask that the chair close the vote, however.
