Beings of the Imperial Senate,
I bid you greetings on behalf of the Independent Hapan Nation. I am K'so Da'shune, Presidium. It is my wish and the wish of my people that we make ourselves known to the Galactic Empire. We are refugees from the Hapan Consortium, now settled on the unaligned world of Parein II. I would be honored to answer any questions you have at this time.

| Good day to you, Mr. Da'shune. I myself have a couple of questions for you:
1. What has caused you and your people to assume the title of 'refugees'? Is this by will or have you and your people violated some Hapan laws that would brand you as such?
2. Do you share the same views as the Hapan Consortium, the biggest belief being isolationism?

| Presidium Da'shune, if you'd be so willing, Senator., and I would be pleased to answer your questions.
The ideals and thoughts; the wish for freedom from a matriarchal society were what drove the people who are now the Independent Hapan Nation to separate from the Consortium. Under the Consortium's laws, one might see it as a violation of their laws. The manner of our leaving and the people who chose to depart were no small number, Senator, even smaller now for the blood price we paid to depart the Consortium. One might consider us political refugees, but the Independent Hapan Nation sees itself as a people starting anew, discarding as we can the old constricting views in favor of a brighter future.
As for sharing the beliefs of the Consortium, we do not. Our borders will be open to all people; there is no need for isolationism. If those who elected me choose to do so, they are free to leave at any time; back to the Consortium if they are brave enough or out into the galaxy to make their own fortunes.

| Senator, we hardly know the Emperor, other than that he is an Emperor and that it is due to him that the Jedi were removed from the galaxy. Be that as it may, we know little of the Emperor's form of ruling, of his methods or of those who govern in his name. While it may be dangerous for us to take the time to learn, we would only look all the more foolish if we dove in headfirst without checking the depth of the pool.
We have passed through many trials, Senator Ordan. I owe it to those who survived the journey to make a fair and well-judged decision before I take any further action. It is for this reason that I contacted the Senate, and for the same reason that I invite all Senators to Parein II, that I may meet them.

| I urge the Chair to cut the line from this seditious individual. The Emperor is not "an Emperor" but the Emperor, the Galactic Sovereign and the Master of all beings, including him. Once the communication is cut I would like to convene a sitting of the Senate to discuss how best to deal with the rapscallions!

| Senator Ordan, perhaps I do not understand, seeing as I am from the Consortium and they certainly do not acknowledge Emperor Palpatine as their lord and master. I simply refer to the Emperor as 'an Emperor,' because he is a living man, is he not? From Naboo, if I am correct? If I am, he is a man and, like all living beings, will one day fall victim to old age. He will have an heir, like as not, so it is hardly sedition to state he is an Emperor and not the Emperor.

He saved us from the hands of the Pederast Monks of the Jedi, he saved us from the alien ravages of the Clone Wars. | I appreciate and share Senator Ordan's enthusiasm for our Emperor but I would urge restraint at the present time with regard to a potential declaration of war on Mr. Da'shune's refugee colony (the Ruling Council is convening on this subject presently, and Senator Oriel's mission to this colony could well provide us information that is germane to the subject also). But be advised, Mr. Da'shune, that the Empire is the governing authority of the galaxy, and Palpatine is its Emperor. This is true whether or not your colony is "independent" of the Empire, and Palpatine will be referred to before this Senate as the Emperor, not an Emperor. Definite articles, Sir. Not indefinite.
Speaking of which, I will have a more definite statement of Imperial policy on this issue once the Ruling Council has convened. In the meantime I welcome the Senate to resume its questioning of Mr. Da'shune, who will continue to be recognized on the floor only for as long as he observes proper decorum.

| I must correct you, Senator Youngblood. 'Hapan' refers to the entire Consortium. The Hapes Cluster is made up of a number of planets. Is there a specific one you would know about?
