Considering Senator Ryuun's Highly Destructive Ordnance Act, I believe that we should continue to push forward with the restriction of highly dangerous weapons such as

Prow Heavy Turbolasers are hugely dangerous weapons with no purpose other than to slaughter massive numbers of people on static positions (their fixed placement making them almost useless against small ships and almost all Capital vessels). Indeed the advertising material of the Munificent-class states "A twin Prow heavy turbolaser cannon on the star frigate is powerful enough to melt an ice moon measuring 1,000 km in diameter, or pierce the shields of a 10km wide Grade III battle station."

Furthermore these weapons are only placed on ex-separatist ships by shipyards we would not wish to encourage the use of as they were so implicated with the treachery of the Separatists..

Thus we propose a new "Clause 6"

Clause 6 would read:

"6. No hyperspace capable vessel possessed by Members of the Empire (all worlds, mandates, alignments, etc) may mount Prow Heavy Turbolasers or weapons of a similar yield."

I vote in favour, its a good idea to remove the threat of dangerous weapons and this does it without restricting ships more generally.

I vote against this measure actually. Such weapons could be useful if mounted on ships that had removed hyperdrives. This way it would likely take less vessels to defend a world while still having enough firepower to ensure that any attackers would be easily overwhelmed.

Senator Ryuun,

I have changed the bill to incorporate your idea regarding ships with hyperdrives removed.

I agree the weapons might have some utility in defense and that Planetary Turbolasers are already of this yield so to allow defense monitors similar firepower seems only equitable.

With your alteration, Senator Oriel, I find this to be a good compromise.

Druckenwell is now in favor.

I was more supportive of this measure prior to its amendment. Senator Oriel, you concede these weapons are of similar yield to a planetary turbolaser, and the possession of planetary turbolasers is subject to regulation and to a Senate approval process. These weapons would escape these regulations simply because they're mounted on a ship that happens to have its hyperdrive disabled (for the time being). I think you were right the first time, Senator—ban them completely. No world needs this kind of firepower, even for defense. I even question the use of them for this purpose; I don't imagine it would be difficult for a belligerent fleet to outmaneuver one of these cannons, which doesn't have the advantage of a surface-based position as a planetary turbolaser does.

I would also caution against being accommodating with Senator Ryuun's insatiable and unending desire to bolster the lethality of Druckenwell's fleet.

Insatiable desire to bolster the lethality of Druckenwell's fleet. That's a loaded statement, Representative Vanden. I do not seek to install such weapons on any of Druckenwell's vessels; we prefer mobility over firepower. Incidentally, I would note that there are far more lethal fleets than that fielded by Druckenwell.

You have very little faith, Representative. Surely you can understand the importance of Druckenwell to the Doldur Sector, especially now that we have entered into an alliance with Monor II.
