| Once again I find myself in agreement with Senator volFyr.
Senator Goodchild, the Senate and its members have as much a right to free speech as you or Robeir. Free speech means you're free to say what you want; it doesn't mean anyone has to listen to it or like it. And we Senators are as entitled to speak out against you as you and Robeir are against us. So let's drop this tiresome pretense about the freedom of speech—it's not being taken away from you or Robeir, Senator. Free speech has consequences, that's all there is to it.
In this case, the consequence for Robeir's shamefully opportunistic remarks is the condemnation of the very Senate he has derided. I find it incredible that you or Robeir shouldn't see this coming, unless you assumed the Senate is so weakened by "corruption" that it would simply wither like a flower at the mighty wind of Robeir's criticism. Don't let's be silly, Senator.
There's also something sad and rather petulant about Robeir's comments. He might have considered, for instance, that the Mandate's failure to persuade the Senate is the fault of the Mandate's Senator, not the fault of the entire Senate. And it is a small man indeed who lashes out at the vast majority of opinion that is against him rather than endeavor to correct what it is about him or his policies that the vast majority finds so objectionable; Robeir could have acted more diplomatically to protect the ethnic Cronese of Caluula by enlisting the Senate as his ally and marshaling from among us a coalition of the willing. To denounce the Senate for Robeir's and his Senator's failure to do so is willfully irrational to the point of denial and further reinforces the complete lack of any statesmanship among the intemperate leaders of the Cronese Mandate.
Finally, let's dispense with this nonsense about the Senate being a relic of the Old Republic. First of all, it's ironic to hear this from a Senator, who is under no obligation to be here if he thinks this institution is a "relic." Second, it is an institution that the Emperor has deliberately chosen in his New Order reforms to remain a part of the Empire. Presumably, Senator, he sees some value in it or he'd not have done so, nor assigned his Grand Vizier to be the Chair of the Senate. So unless you're going to pursue your argument to its logical conclusion and resign from the Senate in protest, let's drop it, shall we?

| In Favor. While Deralia's remarks are offensive merely in principle, it is Robeir who I find to be the true criminal of this outburst; here, here to Senators volFyr and Cambrist for their fine arguments made today.

| On behalf of my husband, I wish to relay his apologies to the Senate for his remarks, which were inappropriate and inaccurate, and are formally retracted. In Favor.

| I'm happy to amend the resolution to omit the King of Deralia, having retracted his remarks. I ask that the chair amend the title of the resolution accordingly, for the Senate record.
